Anyone remember this wacky, but undeniably sad, kids game show? hosted by grinning mullet-man of the hour Pat Sharp (popular DJ and tragic charity singer; released a so-bad-its-good cover version of ‘I Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet’ with fellow DJ Mick Brown).

I always liked Pat Sharp, because, in many ways, he was the epitome of one type of 80s throwback man. ‘Fun House’ had three teams answering questions, playing mini-games (usually involving gunge---what the hell was that stuff?) completing the grad prix (a very cool go-kart race track) with one pair surviving to brave the elaborate perils of the fun house to win “great prizes”. Sharp was always accompanied by bimbo cheerleaders Melanie and Martina (worthless tarts for their time, but polished pros by today’s standards) its hard to believe this was on for close to decade (1990-99) and whilst the rest of us had moved on, Pat Sharp, Melanie & Martina were still there week in week out: all in all, this (along with Peter Simon’s ‘Double Dare’) was good clean fun...with gunge.

Yes, I have fond memories of this. I enjoyed those little races around the track; they came up with many different variations (my favorite being when one member of the team was dressed as the lion and the other pushed it around in the cage, and they got a bonus or something while they picked up a chicken in a bucket (did Herbert Hoover write this from beyond the grave?) along the track.

The Funhouse itself was a fun little end game. Much like Legends of the Hidden Temple would in the 90s, the rooms varied for a while before becoming standardized. And I still remember most of the rooms:

-Tall and Small Hall (with steam effects)
-the Swamp (with the tage in the rubber alligator's mouth)
-Fundromat
-Balloon Lagoon
-the mountain (complete name unknown, but I like how they put the tage under the fake condor's wing)
-the Dump
-the Fundromat (cute use of cardboard close in spinning plastic cylinder)
-the Bat Cave (sorry Alfred, no admittance for you)
-the Chomping Chompers (my very favorite; loved the fake monster head with crushing teeth on the room's exterior and the fake spaghetti and meatballs inside the kids ran through)
-Wind Chimes
-Showers

and one or two others. They did a Halloween themed version once too.

So it went to 1999? If so, it was yanked from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Philadelphia markets long before then.
