To me it had to be 1993's "Last Action Hero" starring Arnie. What are some more stinkers from the 90s?

at first i thought you said "last boy scout," which was also a real 90s stinkburger. (i think it was the nineties??) i saw that in the theater and in the beginning, they have this football player who freaks out and starts shooting everybody on the opposite team to get a touchdown. it was so STUPID i had to laugh, and then i realized no one else in the theater was laughing. i guess they were taking it seriously?

There are so many. GUMMO.

But I DID see LAST ACTION HERO in a movie theater and I DID walk out on it before it ended!

Time Bomb

REleased in 90 or 91. I saw it at the theater and I cannot even believe it was released. It was so B movie. I don't even remember who starred in it. Absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen.

The Hunt for Red October!!!! I hate that movie. [Mad] It is SO STUPID!!

You know what 90s movie I walked out on that everybody but me loved? (spooka lupa's gonna kill me!) "the nightmare before christmas." everyone I've ever talked to liked that movie but I hated it when I saw it. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a puppet musical that day.

90's poo-fests...?

BATMAN & ROBIN
THE AVENGERS
TITANIC
THE FLINTSTONES
ALIEN 3
JACKIE BROWN
SILENT TRIGGER
TANK GIRL
THE THIN RED LINE
BARB WIRE
SPAWN

... to name a few. my God, I despair I really do. isn't it just a complete waste of brain cells watching crap movies?

Posted by Mr. Tia (Member # 4374) on :

ew! tank girl! ew!

i sorta liked thin red line.

how about that matrix knockoff, the 13th floor? that movie was WEAK.

I don't kill people, it cramps my style AND gives me a bad rep. [Wink]

Seriously, though, the movie came out when I was five and I don't think I saw it in theaters, but we rented it sometime and it scared the PANTS off of me. I hated it. But about a year ago my dad had it downloaded and I watched it again, and it sort of grew on me (course, this was shortly after I started loving Tim Burton stuff). I like The Corpse Bride better as far as plot goes, but the songs in Nightmare are far better. Ah well. To each his own, but just so you know I'm not a big psycho who kills people who don't like Tim Burton movies. 'Sides, everyone knows his best are the ones with Johnny Depp in them. [Wink]

i am, in fact, a big psycho who kills everyone who doesn't like "space:1999." so as you can imagine, i'm quite busy.

oo! i got a good one: armageddon! that movie filled me with rage.

(and i know what you're gonna say, but i actually sorta LIKED deep impact!)

Thanks VERY much Raggedy, for reminding me of The Avengers. Now I'll be thinking about that stinking pile of effluent all day!

Worst film of the 90's for me due to the fact it's the only movie I've ever walked out of, would be "8mm".

yup, 8mm was pretty bad all right.

neat soundtrack though! i actually bought it.

Tia- Armageddon! Ugh, I hated that movie! Good choice.

There were some real clunkers in the 90's, I'll start with two from Bruce Willis. I actually like Bruce Willis, but these two were the pits.

The Bonfire of the Vanities
Hudson Hawk

But if you want really bad:

Showgirls

MotleyRulz, I'm with ya on "The Last Action Hero".

Posted by rocksteadyflamethrower (Member # 1065) on :

Hey, I liked "Last Action Hero" and "The Last Boy Scout".

If you want a really bad 90s movie, go with any Eddie Murphy movie from 1990's "Another 48 HRS" all the way to 1995's "Vampire In Brooklyn".

On the Disney side of things, I thought that "Pocahontas" and "Hercules" were pretty lame, also.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

Oh, I almost forgot. "Lethal Weapon 4" really chomped it also.

I know one movie I absolutely hated beyond anything was "Something about Mary" ...it is so awful.

Movies I have left the theater over were

Disney's "The Kid"- with Bruce Willis

Fast and the Furious- hated it!

More I thought were terrible, but I am not sure what year they were in though...that's the thing anything after 1990...I couldn't tell ya when it happened, even if it was in the last few years.

One Hour Photo
Insomnia
Independance Day
Armageddon
Con Air
Face Off
Eyes Wide Shut
Scary Movie

I am sure if I could actually remember any movies from the 90's...I'd say they stunk.

gotta break with ya there, i thought something about mary was so, so, so funny! but it started a trend in movies that just got downright annoying after a while. the grossout humor gets so old. i thought the clerks guys, for instance, those guys who do the jay and silent bob stuff and dogma and chasing and all that... super overrated crapola.

and then there was me myself and irene... ugh.

was one-hour photo the robin williams movie, with him as the photo developer? if so i loved it -- it was super-creepy but that was the idea -- but the woman i saw it with hated it. insomnia i sorta liked too... although i'm officially tired too of the al pacino-as-cop routine. in fact, let's just stop making cop movies! there's plenty already!

man, this movie depressed me, because i love stanley kubrick and i wanted so much to like it. but it's like he made it unwatchable on purpose! gawd!

hudson hawk is so bad it's good! i caught that on cable a couple times and whenever it's on i HAVE to watch the whole thing. it's like a train wreck, you can't turn away... lol!

showgirls was similar. i thought it was dreadful but i watched it all the way through... what was paul vehoeven thinking!?

fyi, that popmatters link contains a little "late night" language. i was just quoting the movie...

Don't forget Anaconda. They defiantly change the physics of what an actual snake of that size can do (swim up a waterfall!? Especially one that seems to be flowing UPWARDS!?). And then seeing Voight get eaten from a POV inside the snake's mouth? Someone was definitely drunk during this laugher.

a few other crap-fests of the 90's I recall...

STREET FIGHTER
GODZILLA
LOST IN SPACE
THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS
THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU
ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE
JUNIOR
NOWHERE TO RUN
HOME ALONE
AIR AMERICA
THE PHANTOM
CRYING FREEMAN
SLIVER
JOHN CARPENTER'S VAMPIRES
THE FIFTH ELEMENT
A BUG'S LIFE
PROTEUS
MEN IN BLACK

...oh, ISIS? CON AIR & FACE/OFF are cool! along with THE ROCK, it's what I refer to as Cage's 'Ultimate Action Trilogy'

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

I just saw VERY BAD THINGs the other night. Was that 90s?????? Wow, what a bad f****** "comedy". Not a laugh in it!!!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I didn't like The Rock either...all those movies were majorly violent...and it just seemed to be that that's what people started wanting to see...now that is all that is being made.

Mr. Tia- I hate Something about Mary...cause I absolutely hate Ben Stiller...and I can not stand those type of gross out sex movies...that are down right nasty. Like American Pie...UUUGH...I wanna throw up just naming it..bluck.

One Hour Photo had a cool story concept...the whole idea of seeing someone's family in pictures...and longing to be a part of one...thinking they are perfect...and yet they really were not...but when they had him fantasizing about sitting in their bathroom on the toilet...then they lost me right there...

All the movies that have been out in the last 10 years turn my stomach....so I have a hard time remembering them, but I know there were tons.

Posted by Mr. Tia (Member # 4374) on :

I figure I can make room for one grossout movie. (Shakespeare has a little grossout humor!) but it's all way out of hand. American pie certainly didn't do anything for me. I stopped watching that stuff a long time ago, but some pinhead talked me into seeing "team America: world police." They told me no, this isn't grossout humor! It's political satire! So I saw it, and it was grossout humor, and stupid and pointless. (sorry, crappy movie of the 2000s, there...)

I really can't believe nobody has mentioned this one yet....

...gets ready to shudder....

BIODOME

Eeeuuugh...!

Biggest steaming heap of chicken-guano you'll ever see (if you are unlucky enough....)

Posted by Mr. Tia (Member # 4374) on :

biodome. ew. wasn't that pauly shore? ew.

Posted by The ModGod Formerly Known as Paul (Member # 1022) on :

Yup. Pauly Shore, Stephen Baldwin, pile of cack. Guess which of the three won the acting plaudits.

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

oh yeaaaaaaaaaaah. That was terrr--iii-bbble.....and after THE USUAL SUSPECTS I was just about to give Stephen Baldwin some props!!!!

Actually, ANYTHING with Pauley Shore is pretty sure to suck!

Speaking of bad movies.....

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6spdi/id20.html

My personal "favorites". Hahahaha.

Posted by raggedyman (Member # 4065) on :

I agree - ANYTHING with Pauly Shore is utter crap. and with ENCINO MAN we got two wallies for the price of one... Brendan 'what is talent?' Fraser was in it also!

Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :

ENCINO MAN : "More suck for your buck"

Ahahahaha!

(Actually, out of all the Pauley Shore movies I've sat through....probably TWO in total...that was less painful than BIODOME)

yeh, some of the already posted ficks really stunk.
The only saving grace to "the Avengers" was Sean Connery... one has to think that he was really having a ball hamming it up like that.
I also disliked Austin Powers and anything be the Farley Brothers (and the Wyans tOo)
let's go with Anything with Jean Claude van Damme, Steven Segal, Keanu Reeves, or Bruce Willis(save the Die Hard flick's and Pulp Fiction).
HOWEVER I'm thinking the one 90's movie that is the most over the top flick w/ bad acting, boring dialogue and predictable story line... one movie that will make every one cringe when they see it in latter years as they screetch "ewe I can't believe I liked this"
YES I am speaking of TITANIC. That movie made me want to GAG expodentially every time I see it or hear the ickky theme song.
As far as the "Hunt for Red October" I did like it, but the book is far better

OOps! I forgot to exempt "12 Monkeys" for the Bad Bruce Willis movies. one of the BEst sci-fi flicks

Posted by muzzled ox (Member # 1841) on :

The only movie I ever wanted to ask for my money back was "American Beauty" However we got in for free. so no luck.

Hey Right "Lost in Space" really stunk. So did "Godzilla" I'd rather watch the 50's version.

Posted by muzzled ox (Member # 1841) on :

Oh right... one also has to include any movie with these 2 words anywhere in the credits.....

DAVID ARQUETTE

Ehh... I actually like many of the movies you've all mentioned. "Hudson Hawk" was cool, "Face Off" was great! I never saw "Insomnia", even though it was a remake of a Norwegian original.
"American Beauty"... "Lost in Space"...
Guess I'm easily entertained...

But the absolutely, definitely, no doubt about it, worst movie of the 90's is "Naked Lunch" with Peter Weller... Aarrggh!!

Too many!

The patetic sequel of Dream a Little Dream
The Avengers (I actually fell asleep in this one)
Armagedoon (I just like the Aerosmith song)
Lost in Space
Godzilla
The Fantastic 4 (w/Jay Underwood)
8mm
Batman & Robin
Austin Powers
In the Army Now
Jury Duty
Home Alone 3
Trojan War

JACKIE BROWN

Them's fightin' words. [Wink]

The first time I saw Jackie Brown I thought it was just alright, but it's one of those movies that gets better with each viewing. To many people were probably expecting another Pulp Fiction which would be almost impossible to top in my opinion but I still feel it's a very very good movie in its own right.

But then again I'm a big Tarantino fan.

Hey, I quite liked that movie. I thought it was quite different then anything I've ever seen before. I thought it was well acted, well directed, very interesting and very entertaining.
