This gets slammed too much in my opinion. While there truthfully is no real plot to speak of, apart from the usual round up a bunch of big stars and blow everything up mentality, Spielberg does do the best he can with the material. Perhaps if they'd put more of a focus on one particular character--probably Belushi's--it might have been a bit smoother. Still, some bits still kill me after repeated viewings, including any scene with Eddie Deezen's dummy irritating Murray Hamilton, Ned Beatty wrecking his house trying to get a clean shot at the sub, the Japanese attempting to get the compass back off Slim Pickens the hard way after he swallows it ("...I've been constipated all week and there ain't a dang thing you can do about it."), and Belushi chasing after his plane and blowing up the gas station in his zeal to catch up. Proving once again that sometimes bad is so good.

How would you rate it?

This was one of the first DVDs I got and over 1,000 DVDs later it's still one of my favorites.
