Tis the season to be merry.....well that's my name.

No Sh$%.

Good stuff Helen. I've been watching Christmas movies as well! I go full in after watching Planes Trains and Automobiles on Thanksgiving.

Hahaha [Big Grin]

Spirited (2022) - You've been Christmas Caroled bitch!!

This was lovely with plenty of chuckles. My only real criticisms and why it doesn't get a higher score is cos you did feel its length and there was a part in the middle when it forgot it was a musical. Although it did make up for it when it remembered with the best number, Good Afternoon. Glad a little twist wasn't spoiled for me. Really feel good, very enjoyable. 7/10

I watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles last night. It was still funny.

Hoff, I need to watch that this year. I missed it last year and it bothered me. I'm also excited to get Die Hard 1 and 2 in.

As for 80's movies, I've watched Christmas Vacation a few times along with Gremlins and A Christmas Story.

Haven't seen Trading Places in forever!!

lol at you watching Vacation a few times gordon.

While You Were Sleeping (1995) - This is my favourite soppy film and has been since it's release when I was a teen. Despite my friend and I having to move seats after some spotty lads wouldn't leave us alone I fell in love with it utterly and knew it would take some beating for another to give me the feels the way this one does. Things have come close (You've Got Mail, The Holiday) but this will most probably always win out. It was in cinemas here in August so although it's set from just before Christmas to some days after New Year I never really classed it as a Christmas film or watched it around then till the last few times. It's just a gorgeous film that just happens to be set then for me still though.

I used to only cry at the very end, buckets of it. But I tear up quite a bit through it now. The music everytime Lucy is talking about her loneliness and the pain in Jack's face when he can't say what she wants to hear is just, ughh it sets me off thinking about it haha. The cast here is fantastic, Sandra Bullock has never been better and the chemistry between her and Bill Pullman is immense. Peter Gallagher makes a wonderful dope, Michael Rispoli is fun as the pervy landlord and the whole family are all spot on and hilarious. The comedy is super cute and the way they mix the humour and the sentiment particularly in the wedding scene is brilliant. Just one of the greatest feelgood films of ever. Gosh I adore it - 10/10

Violent Night (2022) - I think I might like it a bit more next time now I know what it's like as I was a bit taken aback at how sentimental it is and in my head at one point was like "GIVE ME THE VIOLENCE." It was heading for a 6 but that last half an hour was grand!! I was tapping my toes to the Christmas tunes while Father Christmas took those suckers out!!! [Big Grin] 7/10

I just updated my list in first post. As you can see I've mostly been watching a bunch of Hallmark/esque TV crap haha. All the classics will be coming out soon tho [Big Grin]

There was a Christmas horrorfest online the other day that I watched, was fun [Smile]

The 3 main films:

The Christmas Tapes - I liked the wraparound and some of the tales were very deranged and cool. I just think they needed to be a bit shorter and snappier. 6/10

Breathing Happy - This was really good but apart from a couple of bits I wouldn't put this as horror at all. It was a depressing Christmas addiction film. 7/10

Amityville Christmas Vacation - Started off funny and ended funny. It was the inbetween that wasn't too great and made the 50 minute running time feel a lot longer. 5/10

Shorts rank:

Gnomes - 8 Not Christmas but a must watch [Big Grin]
The Woodsman - 6
The Last Christmas - 6
Cookies By The Fire - 6
Downs Of The Dead - 6
Under The Ice - 5 Again not Christmas but wintery.

I´ve also been watching few christmas films:

 -

Just Friends (2005)

Surprisingly good christmas comedy this one and i just like Ryan Reynolds but the whole cast did great. 7/10

 -

Elf (2003)

First time i saw this one and it was good. Gotta love Ferrell wondering around the city in his elf costume. 7/10

 -

Surviving Christmas (2004)

Not all christmas comedies succeed and this was repulsive. Affleck was so irritating [Smile] 3/10

 -

Santa Claus (1985)

This was a Salkind (Superman) production so the settings are huge. I really enjoyed the first half but the second half with John Lithgow cartoon character just doesn´t work. David Huddleston was a great Santa! 6/10

Elf is one of the best! [Big Grin]

Nice to see a man liking Ryan Reynolds. All I see is men bitching about him lately. Pure envy [Razz]

I have watched a portion of ELF and what i saw was pretty funny. The way Farrell played his character cracked me up

"And WHYYY is the carpet all wet ,. Todd!"

Few more:

 -

Tokyo Godfathers (2003)

This was ok anime from Perfect Blue director Satoshi Kon. Three homeless people living on the streets of Tokyo discover a newborn baby among the trash and all kinds of crazy things follow. 6/10

 -

Last Christmas (2019)

Last Christmas was a quite lovely UK romantic comedy with a twist. The cast did good and George Michael is all over the place. 7/10

 -

The Polar Express (2004)

This Robert Zemeckis/Tom Hanks collaboration doesn´s quite work as it should. The message feels a bit off and the main character is dull as dishwater. Few nice moments though. 5/10

Hmmmm, i never really thought about it but now that you mentioned it I am very jealous of the crossed eyes or whatever it is he's got going on there. Lazy eye fake eye. Ive always been more of a Columbo Peter Falk bad eye guy.

I rest my case [Razz] Yay Peter Falk [Smile]

You need to watch Elf proper!

Hope you all have a lovely time tomorrow [Big Grin]

More films:

 -

Krampus (2015)

Good premise but the comedy/horror balance doesn´t quite work the best way in this one. Nice Weta Workshop effects though and all in all, not bad. 6/10

 -

National Lampoon´s Christmas Vacation (1989)

What can you say, a classic. 8/10

 -

Friday After Next (2002)

Watched all three Friday films featuring Ice Cube and co. and this one was set during christmas. Not bad at all. 6/10

Just updated my list with a whole bunch of stuff but a couple of comments.

Await Further Instructions - Just the whole idea of this is a lot more scary than the film itself, waking up with a bunch of awful family members at Christmas and not being able to get out of the house. I'm a bit of a claustrophobe and it made me quite uncomfortable at times, so if you suffer majorly you might wanna avoid. The older I get the more Christmas lights, especially tree ones, become more and more spooky. Bring on all the Christmas horrors! I might give this a higher score next time but I've settled on this as I was really unsure of whether or not I liked the direction it ultimately went in. 6/10

Love Actually - I fall in love with this a little more every watch. But it will never get a perfect score as that scene with the signs is one of the single most pathetic cringeworthy things ever! 9/10

It's a great film but your right that wedding video and card scene was creepy, they could have toned down that storyline considerably.

Mmm hmm! Have a great new year! Just edited the rest of my December watches in. I usually go quite far into Jan but I'm a bit fed up now so will probably just be a few more in the next week and then I'm done [Razz]
