Love Blart Helen. Wanted to see the sequal but never got around to it. Was the first one Christmas related? I can't remember.

I did watch some of the Christmas Gift with john Denver. His daughter and him go to Colorado for his job to find some land to build condos, this for his boss. When he falls in love with the town he has second thoughts about it, he pushed back against his boss, after realizing what it will do to all the families there. Lots of snow in this one with some nice scenery.

It wasn't very Christmassy but it is that time with all the decorations up in the mall.

my double post is odd. Ive seen them as immediately back to back posts but this time they are 2 hours apart with a post in between. Can anybody explain this. I submit that I cannot.

How about those familiar mob holiday films Angels with Filthy Souls and Angels with Even Filthier Souls? ("Keep the change, ya filthy animal.")

In all seriousness, I might recommend Nicholas Cage's Trapped in Paradise with Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey; while a bit uneven and not quite sure at times exactly what kind of film it wants to be, when it is good, it's pretty good indeed ("Alvin, if we're going in circles, I'm going to break your neck." "Hey, I just did what the map said: I made four lefts." "FOUR LEFTS IS A CIRCLE, YOU IDIOT!!!!")

Magic. Not the fake junk - the real kind. The stuff that David Copperfield uses.

Boooom! I love this movie and was totally going to post about it. Definitely a hot mess of a movie. I think I saw this in the theatre when it came out. I hadn't seen it since then and thought I really liked it. I then watched it with my wife a few years ago and felt disappointed. I watched it again the following year and really started to enjoy it. Now it's in the regular Christmas rotation! It's worth a shot...but you might need to watch it twice to appreciate it.

Trapped in Paradise actually has a few big laughs though it isn't great overall--which is surprising since it was written and directed by the guy who wrote Midnight Run, which is an underrated masterpiece. By far, the funniest scene in Trapped in Paradise is when John Lovitz is trying to BS the parole board and tells them that he "will fly high above his problems, like the mighty pterodactyl...AWK!!! AWK!!!" Lovitz, an underrated talent, never fails to make me laugh when he does the pterodactyl impression. LOL

Bad Santa - Wasn't really into this years ago but this time around I found it touching and very funny. I see they're making a sequel [Smile] 7/10

 -

The Terminal - Yeah, so it's only Christmas for the last 2 minutes [Razz] Bit overlong but enjoyable. 7/10

Bad Santa is a good choice. I remember being in tears at the cinema.

Posted by Crash (Member # 7484) on :

"Santa, Santa, what's wrong with your beard?" "You see, Santa loved a woman who was unclean..." ROFLMAO Bad Santa is so very wrong, but so hilarious, one of the funniest movies I've seen in the past few years. Billy Bob Thornton was perfect in the part.

I was at a thrift store earlier and saw this VHS tape for sale. I could not bring myself to buy it.

It doesn't get any cheesier than this:

The Christmas Takeover:

The cheese really starts flowing after the 1 minute mark.

I still can't believe that John Grisham wrote the original book that was the basis for this lame movie.

Christmas Evil - A pretty crappy comedy horror but is entertaining in parts. 5/10

 -

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

Oranges And Sunshine - Just 2 fleeting Christmases in this sad little child deportation film. 7/10

 -

Trapped In Paradise - This was enjoyable, some funny moments. Although Cage was a bit too restrained for my liking haha. I could of just watched it on mute all day tho as it was just so bloody gorgeous! 7/10

Trapped in Paradise was filmed in one of my favorite places, voted Prettiest Town in Canada, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

Watched Trapped In Paradise and Jingle All The Way last night. How's that for cheesy Christmas. First time watching Jingle in it's entirety. Lots of cheese, but not bad. I know I touched on Trapped in Paradise, but I have to say it again, super underrated. It has so many great Christmas/Winter scenes.

Devolution here,

I stand by Jingle All the Way as a better movie than I remember. I would totally let my kids watch it.

Had this 2004 Christmas comedy - surviving christmas come through on rental yesterday and sat down and watched it last night and overall i'd say it was pretty decent and nowhere near as bad as I'd imagined it being especially after reading about the critical slating it received upon its original release.

Seriously daft in tone (but no more so than many other christmas comedies) it's also pretty funny in places and while it' might not be up there with the likes of - Christmas vacation,Scrooged etc it's definitely nowhere near the bottom of the barrel either!

A fun 90 minutes or so - 7/10.

Young Warrior - I too kind of like this movie. Ben is a little too over the top at times. This year I was trying to figure out what the heck he was going for with his character..... still can't figure it out. Anyway, the movie gets better as it goes and I don't mind watching it at all. Solid middle of the road.

I like Scrooged. Never heard of Surviving Christmas. It Loox interesting.

I am currently watching Better Off Dead.

Watched Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) yesterday.

"After his parents are murdered, a young tormented teenager goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa,
due to his stay at an orphanage where he was abused by the Mother Superior." (IMDb)

This was much better than i thought! I remember seeing SN,DN once back in the day but it was probably from cut vhs tape.
This is cool mid 80s horror without any silly jokes. Lots of skin and bloody murder scenes on offer here.
It takes long before Billy finally snaps but i think that it was only a good thing.
Billy gets a job at Iraīs Toys and i loved to see all those retro toys like Muppets, Masters of the Universe boxes, Krull board game and Star Wars stuff.
I need to watch the sequel next.

Billy and Pamela checking out the Jabba the Hutt figure boxes.

A Snow Globe Christmas - Corn on the cob. 7/10

 -

Christmas With The Coopers - This wasn't the outright comedy that teasers had led me to believe. It was nice though. 7/10

 -

A Christmas Promise - Ugh at the American title, A Horse Tail. This was alright. 6/10

 -

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

Krampus - It was nowhere near the greatness of Trick 'R Treat. But it was just a really fun comedy horror. The ending was swell [Big Grin] 7/10

 -

Santa Who? - 6/10

 -

Home Alone - 8/10

Watched - Christmas vacation late on Christmas eve, holds up amazingly well this movie, full of some really great laughs I find this one to be as funny now, actually probably more so than when I first originally watched it back in 1989.

Terrific fun!

Saw this one at the cinema. Watched it Christmas day. Classic!

Posted by the young warrior (Member # 9554) on :

Yeah Bernie I definitely regard - Christmas vacation as essential Christmas viewing as I do the original - gremlins and - Scrooged.

I think there all great Christmas classics,I love the vacation movies the only one I thought fell short a bit was - Vegas vacation,it just didn't quite do it for me!

I'd like to see krampus Helen, the only thing that puts me off slightly is the fact it got awarded a pg-13 rating over in the states,I know this doesn't make it a bad film or anything just that I do tend to like my horror to be a bit more hardcore.

I did really like - trick r treat (i own the blu ray),I thought that was pretty awesome!

Watched Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987).

What can i say, this is one of the worst films iīve seen [Big Grin]
Originally, the filmmakers were told to re-edit the first movie and pass it off as a sequel but they wanted to film new material. The only problem was that they didnīt have much money.
So, what you get is over 30 mins old footage from the first film and the rest is newly filmed material.
Itīs a disaster and i donīt know why they even made the whole thing. Also, the lead actor Eric Freeman is so OTT you canīt help but laugh.
Pretty Elizabeth Kaitan is one of the high points and i also liked the instrumental theme tune. Avoid! [Big Grin]
