"The Dirtiest Dancing Of Them All!"

"Fatherless barrio Puertorican Rico is a menial car mechanic by day, but lives for the nights,
when he dances and dates hot dancing girls, cockily convinced the title of Salsa king in fancy nightclub La Luna's
upcoming contest is to be his. He encourages his best friend, courteous gentleman Ken,
to date his sister Margarita so he gets a free hand with her flirtatious classmate Lola.
The reigning salsa queen Luna's interest in Ruco as dance-partner threatens his on-off relationship with Vicki.
More jealous trouble follows when Ken and Margarita fall in true love." (IMDb)

This was a decent dance movie from the Golan/Globus, Cannon films.
The film was written and directed by Boaz Davidson (The Last American Virgin, Lemon Popsicle series).
Starring Robby Rosa, Rodney Harvey and the pretty women Angela Alvarado, Magali Alvarado and Moon Orona.

Many people say that the story is stupid and too simple
but lots of 80s films have the same story: Some person or group wants to win a certain contest/tournament.
Yes itīs a typical and simple storyline but itīs enough for me [Cool]

Rosa of course overacts a lot but at the same time itīs fun to watch his performance.
And no one can say the dude canīt dance!

I loved the LaLuna dance club, it sure was a huge place.
Salsa features very nice choreographies and cool dance sequences.
I donīt know much about salsa music or the artists but i kinda liked the soundtrack.
It was nice to see that Michael Sembello had written few tunes
and Laura Branigan sang one song.

Check it out with an open mind guys. You might even enjoy it.

Salsa is available on dvd from MGM.

Sounds like this would make an excellent double-feature with Rooftops (1989).

I feel like dancing [Big Grin]
