"A cameraman and a reporter head into the jungle searching for the missing son of a TV producer
hoping to find a big story. What they get caught up in is a drug war which threatens to take their own lives."
(IMDb)

This was a very good and ultra violent jungle action movie directed by Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust, The Barbarians etc.)
The cast is packed with familiar genre faces:
Lisa Blount (Prince of Darkness, Radioactive Dreams), Leonard Mann, Willie Aames (Paradise, Zapped!),
Richard Lynch (Savage Dawn, The Barbarians, Invasion USA etc.), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, Deadly Blessing etc.),
Valentina Forte, Eriq LaSalle, Karen Black, John Steiner and Richard Bright.

The highly disturbing opening sequence sets the tone and there´s no turning back.
Like Deodato said on the featurette, this movie has pretty high production values.
Cut and Run was originally ment to be a Wes Craven film.

I loved the score composed by Goblin man Claudio Simonetti.
Here´s the fantastic theme tune:

Claudio Simonetti - Cut and Run

Cool locations (Shot in Miami and Venezuela), blood and guts, topless bars, crocodiles and violent jungle people.
Recommended for Deodato fans!

Cool movie indeed !

While still violent to the max, Cut and Run is probably more accessible (or acceptable) to a
wider audience than Deodato's previous films were
(Cannibal Holocaust and House On The Edge Of The Park).

It's fun to see that this time he seems more interested in the adventure-style survival genre
instead of nihilistic horror, which makes Cut and Run easier to watch.

Shortly after Cut and Run, another Italian jungle adventure movie was released : Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985).
This one may be a whole lot cheesier than the Deodato movie (especially when it comes to acting),
but still retains a very high sleaze and violence factor.

Gotta love them Italians ! [Big Grin]
