I watched 'Dead of Winter' by Arthur Penn yesterday. It's a thriller based on a 1945 tv-movie named 'My Name is Julia Ross'.
It's a well-crafted, fun movie that has a lot of Hitchcock elements. Though it is a very traditional movie, it is suspenseful at times.
What I liked a lot about it was the setting: a beautiful classical villa in a snowy, stormy landscape.
Mary Steenburgen plays 3 different roles very well, but the real attraction is Roddy MacDowall as a psychopatic butler.

I agree, B. It is a nice little old-fashioned thriller.

great little thriller this one burnett, love the setting, roddy mcdowalls creepy character, the music ,not long purchased this one on dvd.

i think it's a very underated 80s thriller that to me suprisingly gets very mixed reviews.

Watched Dead of Winter yesterday and liked it a lot.
Very good old school horror thriller, builds up the tension nicely and you gotta love the location.
Good cast, this has to be one of Steenburgen´s best roles.
Jan Rubes proves that a man in a wheelchair can be frightening and Roddy McDowall rocks in his first feature film after Fright Night.

I thought this was a good one, I actually found it through a Google search of films Percy Rodriquez narrated the trailers to. I love the way he did trailers.
