Just read that the original Ghostbusters movie will be playing in my local movie theatre for one night only....unfortunately....October 31...Halloween night!! And only at 7 PM. I just don't think I can pull myself away from my regular Halloween routine....trick or treating with my little guy then watching my fav Halloween movies with my wife. Tempting though! Hmmmmm....last year my son, who just turned five, only went to a few houses cause he wanted to go home to pass out treats to the other kids....I may be able to pull this off......hmmmmmm......what should I do???

Just saw it tonight. Awesome! Even though I've seen it a hundred times and can practically recite it word for word, there's still nothing like watching it on the big screen. It's a whole new experience. Great crowd tonight too, even though the theater didn't advertise it.
Now I just wish that they would show classic movies like this every week.

I need to look in to this. I had heard something on the radio awhile back about this happening. When my parents bought our first VCR, my dad bought this movie to go with it! One of my favorites.

I've only seen Ghostbusters once & that was in theaters the first time around...I know, do you believe it?!?!

I am so psyched this is coming back so I can see it again in all its theater glory!!

Gotta love how more & more we're seeing some of our 80's classics revisited on the big screen...You know why? Cause as Christian Slater said in Pump Up The Volume, there are no original ideas left...everything's been done...

So might as well go back to the good stuff...I'm all in favor! Now give me Fast Times or Sixteen Candles back in theaters & I'll lose my mind!! [Smile]

This wasn't going to be playing in my area, so I had all my friends email Malco to request it, and they obliged!

Check these links to see theaters that are showing it. Next showing is this Thursday.

Midwest
South
Northeast
West

"Are you the keymaster?"

Kev .. thanks so much for starting this thread.  I actually attended a screening of the original "Ghostbusters" last Thursday night.

 -

It was such a blast to see "Ghostbusters" on the big screen again.. while the picture quality was about the same, the sound was rather incredible.  I actually took these pics as I watched it.

 -

The crowd was great .. it was so cool to hear people laughing out loud throughout the movie.   I even have a great story about a dad and his two young sons that were behind me in the ticket line before the movie.  ha!

I own "Ghostbusters" on blu-ray and it looks and sounds fabulous, but there is nostalgia to seeing an old 80's fav on the big screen one more time.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Nice shootin', Tex!"

 -

The cast with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, and William Atherton had such great chemistry on screen in this movie.  They truly seemed to be having fun while filming actually at times cracking each other up along the way.

"We've been going about this all wrong. This Mr. Stay Puft's okay! He's a sailor, he's in New York; we get this guy laid, we won't have any trouble! "

So Kev my suggestion is to ask your son to see what he thinks about cutting trick or treat short for a night with a box of Goobers at the theater watching "Ghostbusters" with his dad.. cause back to my story above .. that is what ended up happening to the dad and his two sons in line behind me last Thursday night!

If you live in L.A. you can see the original Ecto-1. It's parked at the Arclight Hollywood for the re-release. Pretty sweet.

Valley....my son cut Halloween short on his own last year...he wanted to go home to pass out treats to the other kids. I'd love to take him to see Ghostbusters at the theatre, however, at five years old.....a little too young....my wife would likely kill me! I suspect he'll want to do the same this year, which will have him home in plenty of time for me to get to the theatre by 7 PM.....although....my wife seems a bit sketchy about staying home alone on Halloween night, and at 7 months pregnant I can't push this issue too far. I officially stand at a 60/40 chance...the 60 percent chance being me staying home......40%....still decent odds! *Very bumbed we only get one night...one showing....I'm writing a letter....to somebody!

Kev .. I hope you get to see "Ghostbusters" at the theater on Halloween night. If not, at least know that you bringing it up gave me an opportunity to go see it .. so thanks again!

It was a no go Valley.....timing just didn't work out. Still had a great Halloween though...trick r treating with my little guy, and my wife watched "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "Fat Albert's Halloween Special" with me! Sadley, the only two Halloween themed movies I got to watch in all of October. I might just pretend that November is October and at least squeeze a few movies in. Glad you got to see Ghostbusters at the theatre...I might just start off with my Ghostbusters Blu ray. On a side note, at a recent yard sale, I bought a box of old toys for $10, knowing that I could re-sell for a decent profit....Slimer was in there and I was gonna keep him.....however, my son has claimed him for himself...I figured fighting over the toy would look really silly......possibly a Ghostbusters fan in the making!

I watched "Ghostbusters" on blu-ray tonight and it was a total blast. [Cool]

I've told the story about HBO showing it as an unannounced sneak peek on Christmas Eve back in the 80's. It was an experience that I will always remember.. same goes for tonight! [Smile] I was smiling throughout and enjoying the amazing chemistry between the cast members.

So much fun and I highly recommend it for a Christmas viewing.
