Maybe a little bit more cheezy, but how about Melvin from The Toxic Avenger before he turns
in to.. er, well.. the toxic avenger ! [Big Grin]

(okay, so it's probably waaaay more cheezy than what this thread was intended for.. but Melvin
may very well be the best over-the-top stereo-type of all 80's dorks)

My vote is gonna have to go to the character of Louis Tully played Brilliantly by Rick Moranis in both Ghostbusters movies.

I have not seen The Toxic Avenger? Am I missing out?

"Alright, who brought the dog?" Tully is a great choice. You can't get much more pathetic than him. Mind you he does manage to pull a few people to his party. Complete losers as well. Well apart from the blonde.
