Good day 80's freaks,

What 80's movie character would you want to be for 1 week. You would live that characters life for 1 whole week as they would and return to yours as you left it bringing nothing back with you, not even the memory of it. Oh yeah, leave money out of it, after all it's just a week. An explanation of your choice would be great if time allows. Heck, do a top 5 if you want. I'm easy.

Cindy Mancini, of course [Wink] .

After that, I'd go with Baby Houseman. I wanna go to Kellerman's and dirty dance with Johnny Castle for week in the summer!

This is an excellent topic gotta go back! Nice!!

That Mickey Rourke thing, huh? [Smile]

"Sometimes you just have to roll the potato..." (Working on my Mickey Rourke impression from "A Prayer for the Dying": "Fadda, we ere fundamentally a-loon.")

I would be Chris Knight from "Real Genius." Oh wait, I already played that part in the 80s, except for the fuzzy bunny slippers. [Smile]

Posted by gotta go back (Member # 9818) on :

Nice choice Crash(and everyone else). I have Chris Knight in my top 3 of my long list along with Roy Hobbs cause I love baseball and he did freaky stuff on the field and Maverick from Top Gun

Ferris. [Big Grin]

Since the character is from One Crazy Summer, the most recent '80s movie I've watched, I'll go with Egg Stork. I'm up for dressing in a Godzilla costume and crashing a fancy party!

Sorry - for some reason I just had to quote this...... [Big Grin]

I guess most of us would pick the character for the stuff that happens in the movie.

Naturally for me, Keith Nelson is a given, as long as it's THAT week, and not, for example, a week where he spends all of his time up to his armpits in sump oil from a Chevy.

Other suggestions:

Del Griffith - the week AFTER the events in PT&A.
Walter Gibson. Actually with Gib, just about ANY week would be cool.
Ferris of coourse - always did appreciate the role Mia Sara had in his life...

Pee Wees Playhouse? Is that a real house someone lives in today or just a front or something to that effect built for the movie. And any idea where it is located if it is a real home.

Louden Swain in "Vision Quest" (1985)

I'll go with..

1. Randy from Valley Girl

 -

2. Del from The In Crowd

(A week of wicked dance moves that start at a quarter to three!)

This would be way higher on my list if the criteria had been (1) night and I could combine the characters played by the same actor. ha

ha great choices.. and Buddy from "Just One of the Guys" is a legend! [Cool]

The first thing that popped in to my mind was Clark W Griswold in Christmas Vacation. Despite everything that goes wrong for him that week/weekend, he still is able to see the good in Christmas and family. Pure excitement and enjoyment in his mind....well until the breakdown at the end.

Runners up.....

Marty McFly - Back to the Future
Gordon Gecko - Wall Street - before he gets busted (had to do it)
Chet Ripley - The Great Outdoors

Posted by Earl Keese (Member # 7986) on :

Man! I should have thought harder...Buddy would be at the top of the list wouldn't he?! Awesome...

"Mad" Max Rockatansky.

I could help out the settlers of an oil refinery, take part in a gladiator fight in an arena and be saviour to a tribe of children.

That is who I would pick.

Posted by gotta go back (Member # 9818) on :

Gordongecko-I like the Marty McFly choice. Not only the timetravel but going back and living in the 50's would be outfreakinstanding.

Also, no Badger Meyer wannabes here?

Posted by John Kreese (Member # 9369) on :

I'd have to go with Alex Rogan.

 -

Posted by Poppy (Member # 9909) on :

1) John Bender (Judd Nelson) in Breakfast Club

 -

2) Kim Basinger in 9 1/2 Weeks

 -

3) Brantley Foster (Michael J Fox) in The Secret of My Success

 -

4) Sally (Meg Ryan) in When Harry Met Sally

 -

5) Gordie Lachance (Will Wheaton) in Stand By Me

 -

6) Marty Mcfly (all Back to the Futures)

 -

7) All Molly Ringwald productions for John Hughes

I find A View to A Kill gets a bad rap but I always enjoyed it.

Some trivia: In the credits for Octopussy it says James Bond will return in "From A View To a Kill".

I think Bond is a great choice!

Well, if I could be any character, I'd be Sloane from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
