Ok, this is not really that strange but it scared me to death:
I was lying in bed and watching Of Unknown Origin(1983) with Peter Weller, battling against a rat living in his apartment.
A couple hours after watching it I went in the kitchen to cook up some bacon and eggs and I saw this mouse scurry (like fast forward mode) from behind the fridge across to the other side of the kitchen and went underneath the stove. I absolutely freaked. I can now understand why women (I know it's a stereotype) jump on chairs when they see one. If there was a chair near by I would have been on it in half a second flat. I have seen the occasional mouse before but due to watching this movie my feelings were dramatically intensified. The mouse is still on the loose (Getting some traps at first light). It's pretty crafty as well.
Does anyone else have a story like this? Just a strange coincidence after watching a particular movie?

That's a great story! I know how you feel. I watched "The House with Windows that Laugh" (not an 80s but a 70s movie) and then walked past a cemetary. The wind started to blow, the leaves rustled, and I put my head down and didn't turn around, lest a dead priest rise from the dead to get me. LOL
I like "Of Unknown Origin." Weller's really good, and the movie is kind of like a sly metaphor for life. You have one thing to do and pesky distractions stop you from completing this one task. Crash, that mouse is still on the loose and I am just about to get in bed. What if it's in the mattress or crawls under my sheets? I am starting to wish I had a bat with nails imbedded in it and deconstructed rat traps drilled to it.
The eeriness of your cemetery story made me quiver. I have not seen the movie but I have a vivid imagination.
Peter Weller was pretty good. He's got a cool voice too. I am never good at picking up metaphors in movies. I knew there was some sort of metaphorical meaning but didn't actually pick up on what it was. I guess it's obvious once someone tells you though. I didn't really think of it like that. You've always got some good insights.
BTW, after some prompting by you on another thread to see And Soon the Darkness (the original), I did. It was a pretty good movie. I couldn't help but feel frustrated though because the movie keeps you in suspense for so long.

Me and this girl was watching Arachnophobia, and both being terrified of spiders, were talking about how glad we were that the spiders here are usually pretty small and all harmless. After she'd fallen asleep, I went to the kitchen to get something to drink, and when I got back, the biggest fattest spider I have ever seen were running across my bedroom floor and in under my dvd shelves So gross.... I had to wait almost half an hour for the spider to come out, and I could finally kill it with a newspaper.
Im sure the movie conjured the spider, and that it was sent from hell to nest in my skull and kill me!!! And no, I wasn't dreaming cuz I woke up the girl, and she saw it too.

Not sure if you'd call this a strange coincidence, but I watched the John Carpenter of The Thing earlier this winter during one of the heaviest snowstorms of the season. It really added the right atmosphere for watching The Thing, even though I couldn't help but check the hallways that night!

TGP, As long as you survive those dreams it's cool but yeah after watching those movies and then having those kinds of dreams I would probably freak too.
JAY LEE: I haven't seen Arachnophobia in years, but I'll probably give it a miss now. I've got enough pest problems at the moment. I had a spider a couple of weeks ago in my bedroom and was too scared too smash it with a shoe so I used up half a can of fly spray and just soaked it with foam. It wasn't happy and arched its back up hardcore as if it was gonna jump at my face. It was on angry spider. Here in Aus we got some nasty ones too.
Zach, the environment when watching a movie is ultra cool. For me if it's raining out side I'll enjoy any movie more, because I know I don't have to try to justify why I am staying indoors and can sit there and watch it guilt free. Did you start shooting at dogs out the front of your house during the movies opening?
I refer to my first post. I can't believe this guys. I am dealing with a Of Unknown Origin mouse. The other day my brother said he was going to the shop so I asked him to get me some mouse traps to get rid of that pesky little piece of vermin. He doesn't listen properly and then comes back with a rat trap which is much bigger. It still looked like it wouldn't be too big to catch the thing so we set it up in the cupboard closest to where I saw it and put some cheese on it. I come back in the morning and the mouse has eaten the cheese clean off it and buggered off some where. Yes, clean off it. Yesterday I am starting to feel like Weller and I go to the harware store to get some mouse traps. I set it up last night with the cheese and everything in the same cupboard. I opened the cupboard this morning expecting it to have its head stuck in the trap and completely lifeless but once again the mouse again prevailed with my tasty matured cheese. I seriously wanna smash this things face in.

Thanks for the advice. At the moment I have gone into overdrive and have 4 traps set up plus the rat trap there too. If I don't get catch the rodent tonight I will go and purchase some peanut butter. I actually don't keep it on hand because I can't stand it. I have only tried it twice in my life. Once when I was 5 and once when I was 26. Both times I ended up spitting it out.
