Haim is a legend and they should have had an ultimate memorial for him. Just goes to show that once you have hit rock bottom people will just turn their backs on you. The Oscars are pathetic anyway IMO.

The oscars do it all the time so its no surprise. There has been loads of talented actors and actresses who have had drug problems and never got a mention like Brad Renfro

Corey Feldman was very upset that Haim wasn't mentioned during the Screen Actors Guild Awards last month (before the Oscars). I do not know yet what Feldman's reaction was during the recent Oscar snub, but I'm pretty he would be ticked off!

It is sad, but true, that generally the scale and warmth of the tribute is in reverse proportion to the amount of column inches the deceased star generated that cast either themselves and/or the industry in a poor light.
Haim didn't do very well in that regard, sadly, and his on-screen success was somewhat diminished by his off-screen success. Unfair, probably. True (at least in the eyes of the Hollywood establishment)? Most certainly.
In the same light - don't expect any heartfelt tributes to OJ Simpson or Charlie Sheen when the time comes.....

True, but I think OJ is in a whole different ball park. I think most people would be angry if there was a memorial to him. I would be anyway.

Charlie Sheen will be remembered by the Academy. He's part of a Hollywood dynasty, and the start of his career ('Platoon' / 'Wall Street') was very critically acclaimed.

Oh, Charlie will be remembered - but most people (certainly the kids for whom Wall Street and Platoon are 'movies my parents talk about') will remember him for his personal life rather than for his acting success.

Do you think there would ever be a chance that certain people were ommitted by accident. I guess I'd like to think that someone at a table didn't say "what about Corey Haim"...and the group went...nahhhh....not important enough". Versus....the persons responsible for the segment made a silly blunder? Was there ever a time after an ommission that the Academy commented on or apoligized later? Just wondering, and hoping, they wouldn't intentionally be so crude....
