Taking a jump to another genre this week, with the classic musical comedy.

Rules as always. Watch the movie before the weekend, I'll unlock this on Saturday, when it becomes the discussion thread.

And try not to talk about the movie before the thread gets unlocked.

I watched The Blues Brothers once again, i love it.
Itīs a classic musical action comedy.

John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd have a great chemistry
and the movie is full of great lines:

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

So many classic scenes:

The penguin scene in the beginning, The church scene with James Brown,
Car chase insine the mall, Bobīs Country Bunker gig,
the Palace concert and finally the massive car chase.

Oh and i love John Candy in this one. Not a big role but heīs awesome as always.

This was a huge hit and and deservingly so.
Budget $30 million, gross revenue $115,229,890

Great music, great characters, great movie.
If you still havenīt seen it, itīs about time.

Always a favourite of mine, John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd are perfectly cast as Jake and Elwood, and the whole supporting cast are excellent.

One scene that always cracks me up is when Carrie Fisher is about to pull the trigger, and John looks up with his doe eyes.... Such a great trick to pull by the master of scams and schemes.

As well as the scenes mentioned above, Frank Oz (yes, of Fozzie Bear fame) is brilliant reading the list of personal effects at the start....

Yeah, Carrie was cute and deadly but she didnīt have a chance
because the boys were on a mission from God [Smile]

Oz was great:

"One Timex digital watch, broken. One unused prophylactic... one soiled.
One black suit jacket, one pair black suit pants. One hat.... black. One pair of sunglasses. $23.07. Sign here."

Anyone have a favorite crash? If I had to pick just one, it would be Car 55 slamming into the side of the truck (although the secondary cruiser in the mall chase flipping over and sliding upside-down all the way down the mall with the troopers inside screaming at the top of their lungs comes in a close second).
