There was once a time when men in Armani suits, convertible sports cars, fast women and illicit deals ruled the silver screen. This was when classic film noir met the vibrant pastel days and neon nights of the 1980s, when desperate men drove to the edge on rain-soaked streets as the pulsating tones of sleazy synth-rock rocked on the soundtrack. This isn’t Neo Noir -- this is Neon Noir. The Cinefamily presents eight distinct flashy and electrifying boilers from the Reagan era; from the surreal mansions in the Hollywood Hills to the lit-up mean streets of Chicago, you’ll be dazzled by the sights and sounds of an unforgettable era, when excess was king, when greed was good, and when men fought their enemies (and personal demons) in totally awesome style.

Stop making me wish that I'd followed my buddy to LA years ago.

Incredible line-up and brilliant touch adding the neon. My 80's Quiksliver shirt always looked so awesome in neon lighting!

Most of these flicks leave you with an uncomfortable feeling while watching.. so a whole month of them could be quite dangerous to your health.

Valley!

Sorry dude.....half of me always cringes a little when I do these postings for people who aren't in California!

I remember hearing about screenings and other ridiculous, obscure events in Cali when I lived back in Boston years ago and literally wanting to CRY as I read each word.

Wow! That's almost a dream line-up of films that I'd put together myself. McBride's "Breathless" and Hill's "The Driver" are so underrated. I quote both movies all the time: Gere in "Breathless" shouting, "Me and Monica...goin' ta Mexico!" and the bit from "The Driver" where Bruce Dern explains why he reads the sports page first every morning--"Winners. Losers. How it happened. Score."
