Just watched Jailbird Rock aka Can't Shake the Beat.
This was interesting young women in a reform school flick with a dance twist.
Flashdance in prison like one dude says on IMBb.

Very low budget stuff but pretty charming at the same time.
The movie was made in ´85 but released straight to video in 1988.

Starring Robin Antin, Valerie Richards, Robin Cleaver, Rhonda Aldrich,
singer Debra Laws and Perry Lang (Spring Break, Jocks etc.)

The soundtrack is nice featuring some good upbeat tunes.
