OK, all I remember is that there is an author, who is driving somewhere, I think on a vacation, and has his hand out the window. It hits something, either an oncoming vehicle, or he swerves to miss the oncoming vehicle and hits a fence. Something like that. I thought it was Chris Walken, but I don't see anything similar from him. Any ideas?

Walken has a car accident in The Dead Zone?

It could be The Hand (1981)

Jon Lansdale (Michael Caine) is a comic book artist who loses his right hand in a car accident.

I own the dvd but haven´t watched the movie yet.

Could be "Delirious" with John Candy from '91 (not sure if the hand bit is important).

No, not Delirious.

My immediate thought was Doc Hollywood, with MJ Fox.

aTomiK.. I think you are correct. Michael Caine, not Chris Walken. Long time since I've seen it! For the record, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's not Delirious, Dead Zone or Misery. Or Doc Hollywood! But thanks everyone. I'm sure it's The Hand.

Sorry I haven't replied in so long. Been busy with new baby coming on the 27th!

Thanks aTomiK. He'll be our second, so I think I'll handle this one better! Our first one left me a blubbering fool!

It will be harder on my wife. For the first one, a nurse medicated her, but forgot to tell anyone, or write on her chart, what she had given her. Then, just before the c-section, they dosed her again. Same meds, same dose. She was OUT! No recollection of any of the process. So this one will be like a first for her. For me... the first was a best day/worst day ever! Wife unresponsive, baby not breathing, but then baby is fine, go to nursery, no one can tell me if my wife is ok...... crazy crazy day!

What a wild story!

They did the c-section both times for my wife,
the first time it was too late and she and the baby got infection.
Fortunately both of them recovered.

So anything can happen but usually the second time is easier.

When my first was born, I was going to go into the delivery room to watch the birth. I was standing in the hallway when an orderly came up to me and said, "New Dad, right?" I responded, "How'd you know?" He said, "You've put the surgical cap on your shoe." And I looked down... I had... :-) I remember that it was the scariest and most wonderful day of my life. The second one was much, much easier, a little less scary, but still wonderful! Good luck to you, my friend.
