I think this movie is from the 80's. It opens with a young man going up to the 5th floor of an office building and then jumping out the window. He breaks through trees and falls on a car and ends up surviving with some injury to his leg so he has to walk with a cane. He goes to rehab and meets a bunch of guys who all hang out and they like to go to basketball games. He ends up hanging out with one of the players and one point holds his head under water to prove to him that when he struggles to get free it means he has the will to live. One tag line they are always yelling, "Hey Jer-reee!"
