I remember (actually I dont!) seeing this in the 8os. Dont remember much about it so Im gonna rent and re-visit it.

How was the first movie?

How were its sequels??

I haven't seen any of the sequels in a while. First is just ok.

I love the first one. Second one is actually pretty decent as like an 80's fantasy flick. Third one, which was actually not an official sequel, entitled The Horror Show, with Lance Henriksen and Brion James, is a good piece of horror cheese, and I barely remember the fourth one, which was actually the real part 3, apart from the pizzaguy coming to the door and singing that stupid pizza song.

I own the first three on dvd and the Second Story also on VHS
and basicly second everything JAY LEE said.

Check out the creative force behind the first House flick:

Director: Steve Miner (Friday II & III, Soul Man, Warlock)
Producer: Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th, Spring Break, The New Kids etc.)
Writer: Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps, The Monster Squad, Ricochet etc.)

How could it be bad?

I'm with Ronnie ... the first one is actually fun. The second was okay. Stop there though!

Saw the original on TV aged 7, first time I got how horror & comedy could work in the same film. Entertaining hokum.

Liked the first one. Saw the second one yesterday (gotta love Netflix) and I thought it was really good. Not scary at all...more funny than anything. Didn't see part four...I do think I've seen the Horror Show.

I do think Ive seen THE HORROR SHOW too. That sounds realllllly familiar.

I rented so many horror movies on a daily basis in the 80s that some of them sort of run together in my mind. Add to that there was a lot of beer around at the time so I cant really remember too much. Norm From CHEERS as an exterminator dances through my head...but thats about it. Gotta watch it again: Sober this time!

Take 1 part creepy house-based horror story; another part funny slapstick-y comedy; another part weak Vietnam flashback story - mix them together and you have 'House'. Some of it is really good, some of it is a tad weak. Overall it's a pretty good movie.

House 2 is a comedy, and barely counts as Horror.

I've only seen the first House and House 2 but I'd say House is one of my favorite horror comedies. It's equally scary and funny. The monsters in this one were very well-designed, especially the skeleton soldier, the bloated female monster, and the closet monster. I thought the part where Roger Cobb is trying to get the hand off Sandy's son's back and flush it down the toilet.

House 2 is definitely more of a family-friendly fantasy comedy, but it does have some imaginative creatures like the first movie. I gotta fess up that I thought the caterpillar/puppy hybrid was cute, and even the scene where Charlie says goodbye to his dying Gramps was touching. Royal Dano did a great job in that role as the crazy grandfather. The only thing I don't like about House 2 is the presence of Bill Maher (too obnoxious and smug) but thankfully he's not in it too long.

Fun fact about the first House: Jimmy (Tanya's son) was actually played by twins (Erik and Mark Silver).

How could you deny such an adorable little creature like this?

I'll chime in with my own, very unique opinions here! First one = good. Second = almost as good. Then, I don't remember the others. I know I've seen them, but nothing stuck with me. Hows that for a different point of view? [Smile]

Recently watched "House I" for the very first time - decent horror comedy; not really scary, but worth seeing. Good story, and many of the creatures were quite grotesque; the make-up/prosthetics on them were great - especially the spider-like monster in the closet.

The scenes with the hot, blonde neighbor that lived next door to William Katt were especially funny. She ended up using his pool & flirting with him; so, he thought she was into him, but she was actually just being friendly because she wanted him to babysit her young son while she went out & partied - LOL.

House has one of my favorite lines spoken by Richard Moll: "D***! Come back from the grave and ran out of ammunition!"

Awesome pics atomik and I thought the original had some great lines plus funny moments Crash especially during the Nam flashbacks!

Love House and also it's first sequel,House 3 aka The Horror Show is not too bad either though there's no real connection between that and the previous 2.

House 4 was disappointing I thought and a poor finale to the series, overall the original is my fave and I loved the character of Ben as played by Richard Moll and the look of the actual House itself!
