Just watched this quite rare John Candy classic.
Directed by David Steinberg, written by Dana Olsen (Wacko, the Burbs)
and starring John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Alley Mills and Pat Hingle.
Ernie Hudson also has unforgettable supporting role as Muhammed.

Candy is great as chauffeur, part-time drummer John Bourgignon.
(some great scenes where he´s the driver for spanish Beatles cover band "Los Beatles"
and he´s playing drums in a chippendales backup band)

Levy is also very funny as the sleazy movie maker Sal DiPasquale.
A funny scene when he´s showing his movie "Kung Fu U",
a very badly dubbed Kung-Fu flick starring Candy and Flaherty [Smile]

Here´s a nice Leave It to Beaver spoof from the movie:
(The bad guys are trying to brainwash Candy to think that all dad´s are evil)

Check this raunchy, crazy movie out if you´ve missed it!

Truthfully this is one of the big guy's weaker films, but it's through no fault of his; he signed up for an earlier, better script (then titled Drums Over Malta) that was then rewritten without any input from him. But he makes the best of it as usual and emerges fairly unscathed. You mentioned most of the best parts (Kung Fu U. is my personal favorite, particularly the "fight" with the obvious mannequins); also like the running gag with the dead guy and the other guy going on and on with him unaware of it.
