Just watched 3:15 again and it´s a very cool movie.
Here´s nice plot summary from IMDb:
"Violent crime is routine. Organized drug trade runs rampant in the face of powerless authority. And a vicious street gang holds dominion with a savage reign of terror. Welcome to Lincoln High! Here "the cobras" rule the school and everyone in it. Everyone except for Jeff Hanna. Once the most feared member of the Cobras, Hanna got sick of fighting and got out of the gang for good. But now The Cobras have brutalized his newfound girlfriend and threatened to kill him for his disloyalty. It's time for one more showdown after the school day ends. Its time for someone to die. Its 3:15"
Directed by Larry Gross, he wrote the classics 48 Hrs. and Streets of Fire, but this was his only directorial effort. Starring Adam Baldwin, Deborah Foreman and Danny De La Paz as the psycho gang leader Cinco.
You can also see many familiar faces among the cast like Ed Lauter, Mario Van Peebles, Gina Gershon and even Wings Hauser makes a 20 second uncredited role as Deb Foreman´s father.
The soundtrack is good. I love the Chris Farren song "No Hesitation" and Ruth Daniels tune "Something´s Gotta Change" which you can hear during the end credits. Unfortunately no soundtrack album was made.

I watched this movie a couple of times years ago..but like so many 80's movies, "3:15" never got the DVD upgrade which is sad.
I've bought a few lost gems on VHS over the years, but I've mostly been disappointed in the quality, so I kind of backed off. You seem to do it all the time.. do you have any tips to help me get VHS tapes that don't have major tracking issues. Do you buy from a certain site or do you invest in specific quality level only? It is frustrating that we can purchase a movie like "Screwballs" (just an example of a less than stellar 80's movie that I won't buy) on Blu-ray and there are movies like "Modern Girls", "RAD", and "Aloha Summer" that are not even available on a legitimate studio released DVD. Sad actually..
Okay..rant over.. back to the movie..
I thought "3:15" did an excellent job of capturing the 'me against the world' angle.

I was lucky enough last year to see a screening of this in Los Angeles. It was a GREAT looking 35mm print too.
3:15 is a bad *** flick!! I've bought a couple VHS versions myself and while the quality wasn't superb, it's about the best you can do.

There´s always a risk that the tape is damaged, but it´s a risk you just have to take.
Some flicks are so rare nowadays that when i see something interesting i´ll buy it right away. Just bought 11 VHS tapes this week and i really can´t know the quality before i watch the flicks.

Excellent post aTomik..and since I'm almost never disappointed by your movie recommendations..chalk this one up on my "to watch" list.

As much of a supporter as I am of Buddy Revell, I gotta do with 3:15. The movie just fires on all accounts. I love the "motley crue" looking bad girls of the school too.

TNUC.. I actually agree with you.. 3 O'Clock High has some great moments and Buddy Revell is a legendary bully, but 3:15 is a gritty under the radar classic. Throw in my admiration for one Deborah Foreman and the choice of 3:15 is rather easy for me.

Well, I wanted to watch this movie again so bad.. I sprung for a used VHS tape of it. I'm watching it right now.. the tape quality is decent to this point.. hopefully it lasts.
The Cobras are some bad dudes!

As always Deborah Foreman gives a brilliant performance.
One of the writers was Sam Bernard who you might know as the writer of a little movie that I love called .. "RAD"

Just watched 3:15 . very awesome. just saw Panchito Gonzalez in Tuff Turf as well. I like how Cinco got it on in the van at the beginning while sorting out his product.
I just learned how to use my EPIX on demand. They have tons of hard to find 80s flicks. I also downloaded GORP to watch next.

That's cool Spreadking! 3:15 definitely has an underground darkness to it. Adam Baldwin is great as the reluctant hero and nice mention of Panchito Gómez from "Tuff Turf"!

Just caught this one today on netflix. I did not know Deb Foreman was in it, she was good!
Uhh.. I thought it was ok. Definitely didn't feel the same about this one, as I do Tuff Turf or Class of 1984 which I found out about through the rewind and LOVED!
This one seemed less gritty than 1984 but not as cheesy as Tuff Turf. After just discovering those 2 movies within the last year here, 3:15 didn't do much for me.
I agree that the music was great.
Cool that I saw it at least once.

After years of a copy eluding me, I watched the entire thing on youtube last year. Right up my alley with those similar "urban" movies like Tenement, Tuff Turf, Alphabet City, Savage Streets and Class of 84. Really liked it, loved Foreman, and even an early Gershon appearance! Hope they have a DVD someday, but have given up hope.

Similar to you.. I actually only thought "3:15 - The Moment of Truth" was decent when I originally saw it in the 80's. And even today, I easily prefer and recommend "Tuff Turf" when it comes to this type of film.
However, I must say that revisiting it years later I see "3:15" totally differently than my original viewing and more like aTomik and Riptide have mentioned. Just that pic above of the bad girls of "3:15" is 80's stylish. And the music is just so unique. But the most fun for me is watching it now and recognizing the cast from other 80's projects.
I wanna revisit "The Class of 1984" because Ronnie's comment.. it has been awhile for me. I remember it being very gritty and actually getting mad while watching because of the darkness of it. Which is actually a sign of a good movie most of the time.

I wasn't very interested in the main character for some reason. Foreman was great though.

Unfortunately it's one of those discs that's only available through certain online retailers (which Scorpion has been doing a lot lately)
Let's hope a general release of the disc through Kino Lorber will follow in the near-future !

Remember 3:15 being a pretty decent watch Roninflix is the site Scorpion are releasing these through along with the entertaining horror Night Visitor the classic Norris pic Lone Wolf Mcquade, Death Warrant and the underatted Cannon Films Vietnam actioner P.O.W The Escape with David Carridine which I revisited for the first time in many years just the other year and had a blast watching! Never used this firm before but I would imagine there shipping costs are probably quite extreme especially if they are anything like Diabolikdvd who's shipping costs to the UK are from experience extortionate!
