This is one of my favorite movies growing up and it's been showing frequently on showtime channels lately. I recorded a nice copy of it from Showtime family HD. I had a previous copy of the movie but the screen quality sucked and it wasn't widescreen. I always thought it was better than Rad.

This movie must have played every afternoon on HBO in the 80's. Maybe because it was rated PG and HBO had a rule about not playing R movies until 8pm. Anyway, I thought it was a decent kid's movie. Good Kids vs. Bad Guys....maybe a pre-goonies on wheels take of the 80's. I remember Nicole Kidman well, it's a trip to see her so young.

We do differ in opinion though, I love RAD and rank it much higher, but understand how something you cherished growing up can hold a special place for you.

Devolution here,

Let's never put Rad and BMX bandits in the same sentence again EVER.

We are DEVO

Watched BMX Bandits for the first time on Showtime this afternoon.

Going down the water slide with your bike was cool, and the fat kid pushing the bad guy down it was also sweet.

It's not as "deep" as RAD, but good 80s fun. It would be good for my kids to watch.

I like the chase scene in the warehouse it's a pretty cool scene it's kind of tense to. Also does anyone know the full lyrics to the song that plays at the end? some of the words are really hard to understand

Faust1979, if you type into the search on Google "The-Papers" followed by "Ready-To-Fly-lyrics," then in the first result you shall come across a web page that has the lyrics for that song.

I chanced upon a video on YouTube of BMX Bandits' director Brian Trenchard-Smith talking about the film.

Here it is.

I love it. I have not seen it in years but can remember it like yesterday. We are always chatting about American movies so it's great for us Aussies to have something to contribute. It was one of my favourites as a kid.

Goose was my favourite bandit.

"Kiss the blood of my carburetor."

I didn't actually know that this movie was big outside of OZ. Cool stuff. The Australian film Industry is obviously not as big as The American Film Industry but we do produce some quality films from time to time.

I just read a few comments on here about BMX Bandits compared to RAD. I like both movies but I rate BMX Bandits higher. Will I get reamed on this one?

I also saw this one on HBO back in the day. It was fun and made me want to go to Australia!

Seeing Nicole with her naturally curly red hair is interesting for folks that have only seen her bleached blonde, straightened hair of recent years.

Good stuff!! =)

It's not all Walkie Talkies and water slides here in OZ.

"BMX Bandits" was a great Australian film; I saw this on DVD about 4-5 years ago for the first time. Decent Picture quality, and a good story.

I grew up in the U.S., and do remember riding my bike around town as a kid back in the '80's - just like the characters do in this film.

It was amusing to see Nicole Kidman with that extremely curly red hair - she looks so different here than she did in her later films, and not just because she's a lot younger.

I was only thinking of this for some reason or other the other day Nostalgic, not seen it since it first came out though I do remember the odd bit like when the kids take there bikes down the waterslides plus I do remember the gang pursuing them being more than just a little bit goofy!

I'm bumbed I didn't see this one as a kid because I would have loved it. But us American kids got RAD so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Yeah, but the problem is RAD has never been available in a recent home video format, i.e. DVD/Blu-ray.

I tried to watch a stream of RAD a while back, and the picture quality was so poor I couldn't get through a couple of minutes of this. It looked like it may have been a VHS rip, but the quality was even worse than a VHS tape - if that's possible...
