First of all, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time out to read my modest little post -- I'm new here but I've visited the main site now and then.

I'm trying to remember a certain film I believe might've been made in the late 80's... it took place in either New York or someplace back east and it was about a run-down high school that was going to be closed before the year was out, or in a short amount of time. The students of this film were talented and imaginative; they decided to save the school by putting on either a concert or they wanted to put on a play/theatre project, or even a dance. Something of that sort.

A memorable part was either one or two people in the film had this awesome dance scene that was slowed down for practicing the night before their project was going to be open to the public, with a song that was very Bon Jovi-ish called "Something to Believe in," which might've been by Richie Sambora. I think I remember it listing him in the credits. If not, it was a similar sounding guy.

If anyone can remember this movie, would they be so kind to send a reply? Thank you so much for reading my first post, in any case. All feedback is appreciated. [Smile]

Wasn't that song released in like 1995? [Wink]

The only thing I can think of is this : POISON had a song called Something To Believe In

Maybe you can do an IMDB search on POISON (or Brett Michaels) to see which of their songs were used in movies

I tried searching Poison, but no dice.

It wasn't Poison, it was Richie Sambora if I remember right. The song was very Bon Jovi with the sound and words, almost like Livin' On A Prayer, except not. So this movie really is obscure. Thanks anyway!

Sounds interesting but nothing comes to mind... could it be, "Nerds." Theres a scene where the nerds put on a concert with crazy effects using Harold Faltermeyer's music. No? Guess not. Good luck.

Its got to be this. The premise that you described seems very close. Its got the dance and it has the school. Check out the link.
The movie, "Dream to Believe." POW!
