I just saw on IMDB that this is coming out, on Blu-Ray too.
I don't have it on DVD. I think I'll have to get it.

I picked up the "Risky Business" Blu-ray today and plan on watching it tonight. Jealous Nick?
The extras are video commentary by Tom Cruise, Paul Brickman, and Jon Avnet. Plus- 25th anniversary retrospective in HD, Original screen tests in HD, and Director's cut of final scene in HD.
Not quite as much fun as 'borrowing' my dad's Porsche, but definitely better than getting chased around town all night by Guido the killer pimp.

I watched the movie last night and tonight I plan on viewing the extras. I was once of the idea that I wouldn't replace most of my 80's movies with Blu-rays because how good could the picture and sound be for an 80's movie? And I must now say if they remaster it correctly, watching and listening to an 80's movie on Blu is almost mesmerizing the first time through.

Ok, I watched the extras last night and the director's original vision for the ending was rather interesting. The screen test with Cruise and De Mornay was cool to watch. Very unique behind the scenes look at the making of the movie. I'm going to wait until a later date go listen to the commentary.
journey, I'm pretty sure the extras are the same for the DVD.

jdoc, the question on if you should go Blu all depends on how must picture and sound enhances your viewing pleasure. For several folks it is minimal or not worth the investment it will require. To truely go HD, you don't only need the Blu-ray player, but the HDTV and surround system. I'm someone that has always invested in the future, it is a costly but still a rewarding hobby for me.
btw, from our previous convos, I believe you already know about everything I just said and even more than me on the subject, but I was just trying to answer your question as a general statement for anyone thinking about making the leap.

Yeah, I've got the HDTV, HD Dish etc. I do however need a Blu-Ray player and a new HD sound system. I'm still using my old (10 yrs) 5.1 surround sound system. It's still really nice, but it's not up to HD standards. I thought I would start off with a Blu-Ray player first. After talking to a few of you (you, Nick, Noms others) here on the rewind I think I'll go with a Sony Playstation because of the obvious benefits and because I've wanted to get back into some cool games again. I haven't played anything since Duke Nukem about 10 years ago and that was on a PC. That being said, I was wondering how much better is the "picture" experience? I have an up-converting DVD player that does a really good job, and, I know that HD is a much finer resolution than a standard DVD 852x480 vs 1920x1080 HD.

The PS3 is an awesome choice for US users that enjoy movies and games, it has a built in wireless card for system updates as well. I must warn though, online gaming is quite addictive. Also, with a plasma tv certain movies almost have a 3D effect in 1080p. I'm hoping to get the 60 inch Pioneer Kuro someday if the price would just drop a little more.

Nevermind, I just looked it up here on the Rewind site. The place where I go see fireworks on the 4th of July every year is about 10 minutes from that house in Wilmette. I wish I would've known that earlier! I doubt that it's a private neighborhood but I can find out for ya.
