I love that movie, (1984). The part that Bill Murray played was originally intended for Eddie Murphy but he turned it down. I can see where Dan ackroyd was coming from with that script. Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy played super roles in 'Changing Places,' and it was probably after working togther on that film that Dan Ackroyd decided to do other 'projects' with Eddie. Ghostbusters is a film that you can watch over and over again and it will be a film that will go on being watched by the next generation I am sure!!! Ghostbusters is a classic 80's movie that is full of activity and wit!!!!

It was Trading Places. [Wink] I agree about Ghostbusters, it is a good movie.

Actually Murphy was originally intended to play Winston.  Today he says passing that up was the biggest mistake he's made in his career.  John Belushi would have been the original Venkman (a very tantalyzing what-if, even if the final character is Murray through and through), but at least he got in in a sense as Slimer's inspiration (which also makes you wonder, was Slimer's later appearance in the anti-drug special Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue Belushi's way of attoning himself from beyond the grave?  Just something to think about...).

The funny thing about GhostBusters is that I think its one of those 'defining' movies of the 80's.

But one I simply can't sit through anymore. Its got all the right stuff, but I just can't sit through it. Dunno why [Smile]

Bill Murray in tip top form delivering his one liners however.....

A bigger mistake than making "The Adventures Of Pluto Nash"? A bigger mistake than "Norbit"? A bigger mistake than making "Harlem Nights" by himself? [Razz]

I'd like to know why Murphy turned down "Ghostbusters", especially considering he was probably the #1 box-office star at the time. I am guessing he didn't want to share the spotlight with some former SNL'ers?

Ahh so I got some facts wrong on my 1st post, Well I suppose I was only 1 when the film was relised. Thanks for 'correcting' me guys. Still I wonder why he turned the role down???? Part two is ok I suppose. I managed to find a copy of the Ghostbuster 2 sound track in a record shop a few years back - The cartoons were good aswell.
