Which former 80's celebs do you miss the most that have been out of the limelight due to motherhood, hatred of hollywood or just a career change?

1. Phoebe Cates- Kevin Kline must be treating her real good to be out this long. hell, why didn't thy make Private School into a sitcom?

2. Jenny Wright- I fear for her as Near Dark co-star Adrian Pasdar said she got in with a bad crowd.

3. Daphne Zuniga-No idea if it's motherhood or tired of the casting couch.

4. Michael Schoeffling-Ok, a no brainer, total milk carton material, somewhere, someone sits in their comfy Jake Ryan-made furniture..hey, he must be good with his hands, maybe he could revive the MacGyver series, or get the Bob Villa crown.

5. Deborah Foreman-if she only had as many roles as as many fans. Please come back, I'm writing the script of Valley Parents as we speak. Nick Cage's asking price could be a bit of a problem though.

6. Michelle Meyrink-Another canadian cutie valley girl/Real Genius alumni looks like she's in family life lockdown, as long as she is happy.

7. Jonna Lee- Quarterback Princess/Making the Grade cutie hasn't been seen since in anything since 1990, sixteen years people!

8. Amanda peterson-I thought she would be huge after Can't buy me love, she looked poised to ge Heathers-like roles, but the bsuiness isn't for everyone I guess.

9. Daniel Jordano-of Alphabet City/ Playing for Keeps fame, was a fast talking rising star for a while, but just dissapeared. Could have gotten roles Jonathan Silverman did and then some.

10. Heather Thomas-of Zapped fame, should have gotten more Heather Locklear/Morgan Fairchild roles.

11. Cherrie Currie-of Runaways/Foxes fame, I thought for sure she would get more roles in the 80's in action flicks or femme fatales.

My number one has to be Sherri Stoner.

She had a starring role in "Reform School Girls" as Lisa, the psychologically damaged girl with a stuffed bunny. She also had small roles in "Lovelines" and "Casual Sex?".

She changed her career to writer in the 90s, working on "Animaniacs" and "Tiny Toon Adventures" as well as the movie "Casper".

She hasn't appeared on-screen for more than a decade-and-a-half (outside of a few interviews for "Casper" and some awards show appearances in the early 90s). She may have starred in some cheesy movies but she was a genuine talent. She should be in her mid-to-late-40s now but I could easily imagine her coming back on-screen as a wisecracking sidekick or possibly a tough older woman (She could use the raspy Brooklyn Jew voice she used for Slappy Squirrel on "Animaniacs").

FWIW, she was also the model for Ariel in "The Little Mermaid".

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Daphne Zuniga is in some sitcom that returns to ABC in March...I can't think of the name...I think it's Family something or other. I saw the ad in US Magazine. So, she's still around.

Keith Gordon - I wish he would come out from behind the lens long enough to appear in something. He was way creepy in Christine but he also has a funny side.

Billy Jayne- He was very funny in Just one of the Guys. He's kind of a poor man's Patrick Dempsey.

Catherine Bach- Where the heck is Daisy Duke?

Great topic Rip! I would have to say my favorite Michael Schoeffling and probablly Michelle Meyrink. I cannot believe how she totally disappeared from acting all together.

I think that Keith Gordon would scare me now because I think he is bald.

Very funny about Billy Jayne being the poor man's Patrick Dempsey. I bet he winds up getting a gig on TV and becoming as popular as Patrick. He is definitely better looking now, Billy that is!

The sitcom is called "Beautiful People"....I've seen tons of advertisements for it.

Mane 1980, after watching the "100 Greatest Teen Stars" and realizing how cool Joyce Hyser is personality wise, it would be nice to see her get a few more roles. I had no idea she was on LA Law for a couple of years because I never watched it.

Hopefully with what has happened to Patrick Dempsey with "Grey's Anatomy" will open the doors for more 80's actors. Now that would be Awesome!

What Quentin Tarantino did for John Travolta's career...I would like to see happen for Steve Guttenberg!

That guy seriously needs to make a comeback...

I hope nobody minds that I'm reviving this thread.

Regarding Steve Guttenberg...he was one of the contestants on that "Dancing With The Stars". Appearing on that kind of show is a cynical indication that his/her career on its way down. [Smile]

Honestly? Don Johnson.....have the dude drop about 40lbs and have a little touch up work done and he'll look like he's just rolling in his mid 40's.

We need a little more "elder statesmen" in TV and FILM these days, I'm growing weary of the oldest guy in the flick being in his mid 30's [Smile]

First and foremost it would have to be the Chevmeister.  You can kind of tell he feels glum in interviews that he's been pushed aside for younger talent (in his recently released biography, he hints he suspects it stems from an incident in the early 90s where the then head of Warners blew a fuse over who was going to sit where at some fancy dinner in Colorado), and perhaps a hair disappointed he never got to be able to take a dramatic turn as well.  Really he deserves better than what he's being put through now (as any of us brave enough to watch him be utterly humiliated because he's the older guy in last year's apocalyptic Zoom--which he's clearly embarrassed over as well because the biography dismisses it in all of 3 sentences--can attest to).  But then again, it only takes one right role to break it again, and perhaps I personally might be able to help him if my current script ever takes off.  #2 would probably be Bronson Pinchot.  I guess he was understandably concerned about being typecast as the foreigner after his great turns as Serge and Balki, but I for one would like to see more out of the man.

You guys will probably have no idea who I'm talking about - Paula E Sheppherd from ALICE SWEET ALICE and LIQUID SKY. She made maybe one more minor movie after those really weird cult classics and then fell off the face of the Earth. Supposedly she's a Mom now but, man, would us fans of ALICE SWEET ALICE like to see some pics or at least hear an update on her.

And Ralph Macchio - I like him too!

And throw Molly Ringwald on there for good measure.

By the way - what the Hell aver happened to Emilio Estevez???? We never see him anymore!

Cool this thread was revived, as for people coming back, it would be Phoebe Cates, even though it would be unlikely seeing as her comfortable home life and businness keeps her content. Just thinking how nice it would be for some former star to come out of leftfield and back in the spotlight, the actors I'm thinking about weren't really A-list back in their day, but wouldn't mind seeing Parker Lewis can't lose alumni Corin Nemec and Billy Jacoby resurface, I even wonder about what the guy who played Biff in Back to the Future is up to. Alex Winter of Bill and Ted as well. I also wonder why Jenny Wright hasn't resurfaced in almost a decade. She had talent, she could of done Anne Heche-like roles.

Someone mentioned Daphne Zuniga...I'm pretty sure she was Brooke's mom on One Tree Hill this past season.

Excellent posting!

I agree with all of them...

How about Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd in a movie again (think spies like us)?

Bill Murry is trying... He just divorced... Again...

The cast from Ghostbusters... How about another Ghostbusters... Back from the goo... [Smile]

Or, Molly Ringwald and the cast from Sixteen candles in....... 40 candles... Where is Jake Ryan? Did they get married? Long Duk?

Michael J Fox (if he can do it poor Michael) in Back For The Past!!! Are there ant Delorean's to be found? Wait. I found this...

http://www.delorean.com/ It could be cool...

It could be fun... [Big Grin]

Andrew McCarthy.... he was/is a great ****ing character actor, and could/can convey more with a look, than most actors today can with two pages of dialogue!

I know he does a lot of TV work and bit parts, but seriously... why this guy is not an A-lister is beyond me!

And another choice: Joe Pesci, who seems to have dropped off the face of the earth since the dawn of the new milennium. I don't know if he was tired out or couldn't find anything he liked anymore, but he's just got the talent you miss when it's not there to watch, even if it's in large part simply him yelling how he's going to...smash his...opponent's...head out his........well, you get the point.
