I went mad today and bought Some Kind of Wonderful.....Space Camp..(oh yeah) and a film called High School USA....which I had never heard of but had to buy coz not only was it cheap (bonus)...but it has a very young looking Michael J Fox in it.

I noticed later that 2 of them have Lorraine McFly in and the other has Marty.....actually a serendipity.

Anyone ever heard of High School USA?
I'll be sure to share my verdict with y'all [Big Grin]

I vaguely remember it as a made for TV movie. I checked it out on IMDB and sure enough it was a TV movie from 1983. It has alot of 80's TV stars in it like Nancy McKeon (Facts Of Life), Todd Bridges & Dana Plato (Different Strokes), Laurie Hendler (Gimme A Break).

yes ive had high school usa on video for years and it also stars anthony edwards ( DR mark green from ER ) he plays beau middleton a rich kid, it has some cool comedy moments.....

A young looking Michael J. Fox??

That guy still looks 17.

ok so I'd forgot i's bought this dvd it was $1. and it just had a paper sleeve so it got lost in my closet.........so at the moment i'm watching it........it's pretty cool and cheesy........So Earth Angel what did you end up thinking of it???

Why did people think Nancy Mckeon was a knockout?

Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :

I wouldn't say she was a knockout, but she was attractive in her own sort of way.

i love nancy mckeon!
and i have wanted to buy this movie on amazon. i had never seen it or heard of it until i went looking for poison ivy and the site suggested high school USA.

i have it and as i recall from watching it, it's chock full of other 80's celebs like Michael Zorek, Dana Plato & perhaps Crispin Glover. It was cool...campy cool.

Nancy McKeon, IMO, was just naturally pretty. Even with a ponytail, no makeup and jeans, she looked cute, on the Facts of Life that is.

Posted by Muffy Tepperman (Member # 1551) on :

yeah I think she's pretty a natural beauty.......especially as Joe on facts of life..........but in this movie she's kindof "mousey" and her expression never changes except maybe the ferris wheel scene haaha and she seem to even look years older.......maybe cause fox looked so young hehe so why was she the knockout........even in the scene with her parents no expression change, watch it lol

Thread # 1 called 'High School USA'.

Two have Lorraine, and one has Marty and George! Nice!

Angel: What did you think of the film in the end?

Have you seen 'Poison Ivy'? It features MJF and Nancy McKeown (same actress as 'High School USA' - they dated for a while).

Posted by Earth Angel (Member # 3301) on :

I liked it [Smile] It's got MJF running and skidding a lot...PLUS he beats the school jock/popular crew....what's not to love [Smile]

Just bought and watched High School USA (1983).
I loved everything in it! Non-stop jokes and great characters.

The cast is one of the greatest ever.
Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon had great chemistry
just like in Poison Ivy two years later.
(and obviously also in real life)

Anthony Edwards was awesome as the rich SOB.
Crispin Glover and Michael Zorek were ultra cool geeks.

Chuckie: "We´re couple great looking hip dudes, right?"
Archie: "Yeah, we´re cool"
Chuckie: " Ok, i´ll stop by after the Flintstones"

"You eat all the fries?"

Arcade scene, a cheesy robot, some rollerskating and a car race.
That´s 80s magic!

Atomik, I always loved this one. One of the great little feelgood TV movies of the 80's. 'Poison Ivy' is great too!

It seems that this was called "The Race" in Sweden.
Ok, that´s original...

Nancy McKeon is absolute dog vomit in my opinion especially in this movie.

Nancy McKeon is a BABE!

I guess she did have the ability to look good and I have seen her look quite attractive in certain things but in High School USA she is barfarama.

Zigy - it is worth a watch for sure. Classic 80's feel.

What's with them using a photo from BTTF on the cover?

Definitely recommended! My brother and I still quote this movie occasionally. It's a pivotal 80s teen cheese movie. Got lots of recognisable people in it too.

Love it to bits. So cheap but does everything a teen movie should. Always makes me feel good.

They were gonna use the movie as the introduction to a series, but it never happened.

I'm not making fun of it by any means but it is a goof and goofs are part of this great site. I love that kind of stuff.

Sounds to me like they've got palm trees all over the us,because they also pop up in Chicago as well in the 1988 Arnold schwarzenegger movie - red heat [Big Grin]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095963/goofs?ref_=tt_ql_trv_2 - goofs for - red heat.

Didn't they attempt a TV show off it?

Some of the items discussed are just like the ones from Grease 2. Overall, it's a good, not great, movie.
