In the time I've been here I haven't seen anyone mention these films but after watching them for the first time over the past couple of days I was impressed, better than your average b-movie horrors for sure and a great way to kill 3+ hours [Big Grin]

Waxwork (1988) & Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992), both are available on a single region 1 DVD for as little as $11. Waxwork is available on it's own on R2 or R4 DVD.

Zach Galligan (Gremlins) is in both and the 2nd continues where the 1st left off (in some ways I thought it was better). Not giving anything specific away they have plenty of people getting killed in various ways, great sets, plots that don't lose momentum, lots of good special effects that don't across as too cheesy and lookout for these recognisable actors dotted about in them; John Rhys-Davies, Patrick Macnee, Joe Baker, Marina Sirtis, David Carradine, Bruce Campbell, Martin Kemp & Alexander Godunov.

Anyone else have a film (preferably 80s) that isn't well known they can reccomend?

Devolution here,

It is probably better known than I am giving it credit for but Hollywood Shuffle the first of Robert Townsend's movie's. A classic from beginning to end a movie that describes the stereo types that african americans have to go through in movies in the 80's due to type casting. It is a spoof, but the is a lot of seriousness in what Townsend is trying to say.

While you are at it go try to find North Shore with Matt Adler from White Water Summer and Peebles or "Girlfriend" fame. It was probably the inspiration for Blue Crush. Surfing, fighting and hawaii.

I mentioned Waxworks on my favorite horror movie post before, I love that movie!!! It has 2 of my favorite people in it. Zach Galligan and Deborah Foreman, and I like Michelle Johnson too. It is pretty scary. The whole werewolf guy is creepy-very scary, oh and the Dracula scene, where the guy is laying on the table with his legs eaten! That is freaky. It is a total 80's horror movie.

I haven't seen Waxworks 2 yet, but I heard it's nothing like the first.

Oh I have so many to reccomend....that I love that I have mentioned before, and I think these are all excellent movies:

Rich Girl-Jill Schoelen..totally an 80's movie she falls for a singer-who isn't that great, but I like the people in it, and the music is ok, but I think it is an over all good movie...Jill Schoelen has done alot of movies I really liked, my favorite is Curse 2-The Bite, her and J. Eddie peck are in it, he gets bit on the hand by this mutant snake that was exposed to a chemical plant, and his hand turns in to the head of a snake, and it kills people, and then it takes over his whole body, and the effects in that movie are so scary, and done really well, Jill Schoelen has a scene where she is trying to get away from the snake after it has taken over his whole body and she is in this pit of mud, like the pool scene in Poltergeist, it is pretty good.

I also love Hot Moves that she is in, I love the clothes, it is like Hardbodies/Porky's, but totally 80's teen fun stuff.

Some more I like:
Liar's Moon
Touched by Love
Tomboy
Out of Control-Betsy Russell, these kids are flying to an island after the prom, and it crashes, and they are stranded.

Happy Birthday to Me-Melissa Sue Anderson-this is so good, it has one of the best endings in a scary movie ever, and one of the creepiest scenes, where she is in a car on a draw bridge with her mother, and it goes up, the car falls in, and her mother is trapped, and dies, and that scene in that movie is so creepy.

Here's some more good scary movies:
Grotesque
Schizoid
Blood Song
New Year's Evil
Piranha

I can think up lots to these, but check them out.
Oh...and everyone should try and see My Bloody Valentine, before Valentine's Day. I love that movie, it is really different, and I love all the Valentine's decorations in the town. Oh..Silent Scream and He Knows Your Alone-very scary!!!

Did anyone ever watch Impulse (1984)? There were some good moments, but I found the ending very poor.

"Hollywood Shuffle" is great...it paved the way for "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" and the like, but it also had a really down-to-earth message. Damn funny, too.

I'm gonna get ya sucka! is my husband's all time favorite movie. I only ever watched it once. The Wayans brothers are so funny, I used to love In Living Color.

Did any of you ever see Ski School??, that's another low budget, but cool 80's movie. It is a great winter movie. I love watching movies that take place in whatever month it is now, or which ever season. Like I watch winter movies in the winter. Another great winter movie is:
The Other Side of the Mountain.

I asked this before, but does anyone else love the Wilderness Family movies?

Another great family movie is: Savannah Smiles

Has anyone seen Ragtime? I love this movie. It is a 2 tape set. I should watch it now. That will kill some hours..I might just go do that.

Also, another good movie is Raggedy Man, with Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard, and Eric Roberts, anyone see it?
