I collect movies!!!!! I really love the 80s stuff, but I collect all kinds. I have over 300 on DVD (majority) and then I just sold 80 of my 100 VHS collection recently. I also am always looking for books that have interesting 80s info in them. I have a few. I also seem to collect romance novels but not on purpose. I really like Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, and Joan Elliott Pickart.

I collect movies too-I have over 400 on vhs, and over 40 dvds, and growing. I have alot of 80's memoribilia. I did buy an old atari at a yardsale, but then I didn't realize you need an old tv for it to work. The cool thing, is that my son's Gamecube-the game Animal Crossings, has Donkey Kong within that game, and it is the same as the original.
I collect stuff from different tv shows, and the shows themselves, The Bionic Woman, and Six Million Dollar Man, Dukes of Hazzard, Charlie's Angels,Grizzly Adams, Wonder Woman, Emergency!,The Incredible Hulk-I just got 2 super mag- magazines at a flea market-I would love to get the old Dynamite magazines, I use to suscribe to that one. Also Great Grape Ape, Magilla Gorilla, Underdog, Hong Kong Phooey, The Banana Splits, The Land of the Lost, and all the Kroft shows, I collect anything I can find of that stuff. Thanks for Ebay.

Devo memorabilia, movies, music, music, music.

I had a lot of games, nintendo. I didn't need to collect a lot when I had most of the stuff already. I was a good age I guess, that and I didn't throw anything out.

Hey Devo, I'm right there with you. My life is
consumed with music and movies! I obvioulsy collect 80's movies but the big thing for me is finding the soundtracks or music that go with them. If there is a song in the movie that isn't on the soundtrack, I look for it. It's like a quest! I also collect purses and the original little Strawberry Shortcake dolls. They're so damn cute [Razz] .

Cindy I collect purses too!!! [Big Grin] I have 23 right now that I would consider interesting enough to collect then there are several boring more everyday purses that I have in black and browns and what not. I also collect unsharpened pencils weird aye??? When I was younger I did the coin collecting thing. Right now I have about 200 records from the 60's to the 80's. I am working on movies now but my collection isn't very big yet... it is about 100.

I didnt know whether to leave this message or not, as i dont actually collect them now .. but reading about collections brought this back ...

I was a kid in the eighties, and the craze in our school was to collect rubbers (erasers) .. they came in all different sizes and shapes .. you could get little washimg powder boxes and in the boxes was a t-shirt rubber that actually smelt of washing powder .. there was fruit that smelt of fruit ?!?! (obviously . [Roll Eyes] . lol)
you could get figures, cars, all sorts ... i had hundreds of them, and we would sit at break times and compare, show our new ones etc ..

Then there was the garbage pail kids stickers .. we would collect them and trade doubles etc ... our books and files were covered in them!!!

Wow you have really brought some memories flooding back with this post .. lol

I collect 80s movies (of course [Smile] ), mostly looking for the obscure titles that aren't on DVD yet, plus cartoons and handheld games that are mostly from the 80s:

http://linux.tc3net.com/darwin/kult/ - cartoon VHSs (needs updating)
http://62.188.32.182:1453/~rid/handheld.html - handheld electronic games (also needs updating with my growing collection of Nintendo game&watches)

Smayt that's wonderful! I've been collecting Spiderman stuff since I was 4 years old! I am consumed by all things Spiderman! I have a great old comic signed by Stan Lee, and I have a pair of suede Spiderman shoes that I wore when I was 4 years old. So they're like over 20 years old now.

I have tons of Spidey comics and unopened action figures, t-shirts and posters. It's nice to know that another person here is in to Spidey too! [Big Grin]

Oh my....my son's room is done in Spiderman, the wall are blue the curtains are red, the area rug is red, the comforter/sheets are spiderman, he has wall decals spiderman,a border that looks like a comic strip, pictures, and for the other part of his birthday besides the 80's stuff, we did a spiderman cake, I used fake spider webbing from Halloween and under a canopy in our yard, I put webs all over it, and I made these spiderman heads, out of red paper lanterns and felt, and crepe paper-they were cool. I put fake spiders all around the food bowls, and plates.

I remember collecting beer cans in 6th grade, that we found all over the place. We collected stickers- especially the scratch and sniff kind. I collected the Grease trading cards. Hardy Boys stuff- I was in their fan club. Also, King Kong stuff.
I collected stamps too.

I don't "collect" anything but I still have a few things stored away that I never really threw away. Most notable would be those WWF wrestling figures made around 1985. I have Hulk Hogan, King Kong Bundy, Brutus Beefcake, Big John Sud, The Iron Sheik, and Andre the Giant. I also think I still have a few Garbage Pail Kids.

I've been collectiing Framed Movie Reel cells from 80s movies just lately, recent purchases have been of: Ghostbusters, Cocktail, Gremlins and Dirty Dancing. They look nice on the wall with a little brass plaque a mini poster and the actual film cells.

They look like this... [Razz]

Wow,I cant believe I found my niche finally. Well, I dont know if I collect it, but I love listening to 80's music. Mostly new wave, new romantic and punk. I love the 80's movies as well and have probably seen almost all of them listed here..sheesh..this is a great collection too by the way. Does anyone remember a live action/animated movie by the name of Waterbabies? It starred James Mason. Great movie, a lot of singing though..that may put some people off.

Only a little. [Wink] On average we'll add 1 or 2 per week.Mainly DVDs occasionally a VHS but only if theres no DVD for it. Lately Ive been adding more than she has. I blame you guys for it now... [Big Grin] Someone will mention a movie and then I just have to seek it out and make it part of the collection. [Roll Eyes]

I personally used to collect Transformers comics (UK editions). I was a total TF nut, as much for the comics as for the toys. Eventually by the end of '88 I decided to stop. A bad decision, as it turned out; all the plotlines for the previous hundred issues were about to converge, and I deprived myself of the payoff [Mad] ('Time Wars' anyone????)

Had to wait another 12 years before I would start purchasing again [GOD BLESS EBAY!!], and it's taken me a further 3 to complete my collection, at about quadruple the original price... [Roll Eyes]

Still it was a great, great comic tho. The majority of issues between c.#65-150 ('86 thru '88) were/are sheer quality IMO.

Cheers [Smile]

I am building my 80's DVD collection. Also, I was a huge Duran Duran fan and still have my stickers of them. Geez, I've been holding on to these things for like 20 years! Yikes!

The past year I started collecting pins of Music groups. I have some like the Cure and Adam Ant from the 80's. Today I found a Breakfast Club pin in a store. It's also a less expensive hobby for me which is good.

I've collected movies and CDs forever, then books, magazines, anything and everything at one point. Got to a point a number of years ago that I was feeling smothered with "crap" and it was literally causing me anxiety...loads and loads of stuff in boxes which likely never would have seen the light of day. Big turning point was becoming a Dad four years ago, and priorities have changed drastically. Started getting rid of tons of stuff which was emotioanlly hard to do, but felt so good afterwards (OK...are people thingking I'm a freak right now?) Still love myself and like to buy things for me too...Now, I mostly collect DVDs...primarily 80's...very rarely, if ever, buy any newer movies. Also will pick up odds and ends of anything that captures the innocence and my childhood) of the 80's. So...no plans anytime soon to get rid of my: vintage ghetto blaster, 80's record albums, ATARI and games (though this remains in a box untouched...I can't seem to part with it), also still have some old comic books, hockey cards, mad magazines, and a few toys. I think I'll love the 80's til I die....though wonder what I might think of Michael Jackson or Gremlins when I'm 75ish...hoping the kid in me lasts til the end!

I guess I only collect 80's movies. Man I have seen way too many and seen those way too many times.

My mate collects Smurf figurines but only the ones from the 80's. The original company Schleich still makes them but they all have the years on the bottom of the smurfs feet. My friend will only allow the 70's and 80's ones into his display cabinet. He is 39 and I have heard his 16 year old niece ridiculing him about it.

Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :

Oh forgot to mention. I built an arcade cabinet and has many video games on there so yeah I guess I collect video games too. Mainly the old ones. 1942 is my favourite.

He's a collector, people who don't collect seldom understand *any* form of collecting because they have no passion / connection to the objects being collected.

You know those vintage white clamshell DISNEY vhs boxes that you could not remove the paper label from the top of the box, the label was sealed into the box, those are collected by myself along with some PACMAN stuff, Popeye, MISSOURI Tigers stuff, AUTOGRAPHS(would like a Chevy Chase piece some day), old coins, ODD SERIAL#s ON PAPER MONEY and basically anything that takes me back to my childhood(70's/80's).
