Has anyone gotten a recent release date for the DVDs??? I have been watching Amazon, Suncoast, Tower et al, and Amazon used to have a release date of 4-1-03 and Suncoast says that their computers are saying they should be out anytime....Help???

I can't see paying major prices for ebay if they are going to be re-released anytime soon.... [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Looks like the release company has set the date back for some unknown reason, I checked half a dozen DVD sites and they all say "out of stock" or "TBA".

Except this place: http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=46499 but somehow I don't fancy waiting 23 years for it to be released [Big Grin]

I got a $30 gift certificate from the store FYE. I promptly went to the mall and to see what 80s movies I could get. I was shocked at there dvd prices. But I found on vhs some good deals. I purchased Weird Science, Sixteen Candles, One Crazy Summer, Mr. Mom and High School U.S.A. on dvd. I had to chip in an extram 3 dollars or so but it was worth it.

As everyone else I would rather have the DVDs of the movies but for now. I can settle mostly when it was basically free. [Big Grin]

Universal has delayed the DVD re-issues of Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science to an unknown date. They were supposed to be released in April, I believe, but I wouldn't expect them now till at least September, as Universal has announced many summer releases, and these titles are nowhere to be found. As of right now, I wouldn't bother buying the overpriced dvds off eBay, as the re-issues are expected to be Special Editions. (I know a Weird Science commentary track has been recorded, Bill Paxton said so in an interview, and I heard John Hughes did a Breakfast Club commentary...) and speaking of Breakfast Club, I'd expect lots of deleted scenes on the new TBC DVD. Hughes said awhile back in an interview, that the original TBC cut was like 4 hours or so, and he said it would be nice for the unused footage to be available to the public someday. Hopefully it'll be on the new DVD.

Don't get too excited about these reissues. They're practically bare-bones releases. I read recently on DVD File that The Breakfast Club and Weird Science DVDs will only include theatrical trailers, and the movies will be presented in anamorphic widescreen. As for Sixteen Candles, it will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, but it doesn't even get a trailer. That's just pathetic. I read on The John Hughes Files site awhile back that a Weird Science commentary was recorded, but that must be false, as its not on the new DVD. No commentaries, no deleted scenes, no behiend the scenes stuff...nothing. I don't even know if i'm gonna bother buying these. (and this is coming from an avid John Hughes fan...)
