It's an utterly laughable concept that somehow manages to be appealing. And believe me, there were far worse TV shows in the decade than this one (Mr. Smith from the same largerly failed NBC fall lineup, anyone?). For sheer escapism, it does its job well enough, and in many ways, that's what counts.

I would love to see the 8 episodes that were made!
It stars lovely Melody Anderson and i remember Simon MacCorkindale from the fun adventure film Falconīs Gold aka Robbers of the Sacred Mountain (1982)

"Manimal was scheduled opposite CBS's popular soap opera Dallas" - someone wanted to bury this show from the start.

I think all the episodes may be up on YouTube; I remember watching a few of them there a while back, so check them out at your convenience.

Saw at least one episode of "Manimal" back in the '80's; as the name implies, the show was about a guy who could magically transform into various animals. Interesting concept, though the effects probably wouldn't hold up these days.

Don't remember much about the series, and not sure if it's on DVD.

Manimal with Simon McCorkindale was truly terrible. It's like they filmed one transformation scene for each animal and then reused the footage throughout the series for every transformation. There were a lot of short-lived fantasy and science fiction shows in the 80s.

OH YES. MANIMAL. I remember this. Oh wow, yes no wonder it was so short lived.
