Hey guys. Just checking in...been close to a year now, though not intentional. Started a new job that has kept me busy, and son # 2 in January...very little time. Gonna try to touch base once in a while again...I've missed chatting with everyone. How's everybody been? Not much has changed with me...I still continue to buy tons of 80's movies....and still....never get to watch them!! Someday...someday. Hope all is well with everyone....and hello to all the. One fun tid bit....I've talked about my 80's room for years, but it never came to light....it is now very close....I have a new passion for vintage stereo gear which will add a nice touch to my retro room. Hope to add pics someday. Cheers everyone!

Hi kev!

80s room? With a vintage stereo system? I´m so jealous.
I hope that you get it someday.

Yeah, tons of movies and no time to watch them. Still the same for me too.

Hi kevdug! I didn't realize it had been so long since you've posted. You have got to put pictures of your 80's room up here when it is done. My husband's stereo is vintage- circa about 1982-83. That would be a great starting point for me. They don't make them like that anymore!

I hope to someday have my parents stereo system, but don't think they will give it up for a long time. I think the reciever is from 80-81 maybe. Not sure how old the turntable is, but it's a great combo....also want their albums, but that could be tough because my brother will want some of them too! Might have to have a draft!

We rented our basement for years, and financially, don't have to anymore, which pretty much doubled our space. A nice play room for the kids, my wife got her own room (meditation/relaxing room), and I get my own little room...which of course will be retro...primarily 80's of course, but a bit of 70's thrown in there as well. My space actually used to be the downstairs kitchen, so out go the fridge and stove, and I will use the cupboards to store some of treasures, whcih makes things really accessible. I have so far....a few vintage stereo systems (due to crazy luck, I was able to find some nice systems at flea markets/yard sales, for next to nothing...have to pick just one though) *FYI...keep your eyes peeled for some of this stuff...a lot of it is worth a fortune and sounds great. 15 of my favorite albums from the 80's framed and ready for the wall, vintage Michael Jackson Thriller poster, a ghetto blaster (or two, or three....long story), older TV with a top loading VHS player and an Atari game system, a chrome table and chair set from the 70's, tons of cassette tapes and albums, and general 80's memoribilia...Gizmo and ET plush doll, Bob and Doug MacKenzie figures, Rolling Stone magazines from the 80's, some MAD magazine, vintage phone, and a little of this, a little of that. Still need to decide on a movie poster or two....Back To The Future? Breakfast Club? Nice to have a room...all about me! May need someone to walk me through posting pics again when I get this thing finished.

Your room sounds great kevdug! How about one of those portable 8 track players too? My brother had one, it seemed as though all of his friends did too. Or maybe you're not into the 8 track scene. But that is what I'd like to find. I wish we had flea markets and yard sales around here where I could actually still find good stuff. They have gone by the wayside since ebay started to get really popular.
