This coming Sunday. First season was great but this season will have double the episodes! AMC may be the savior of modern tv.

Motley .. below is what I posted in the Zombie thread .. so you can definitely count me in!! Thanks for the reminder.. I'm glad to hear that they doubled the episode count for this season.

 -

This isn't a movie and definitely not from the 80's... but who else is excited about season 2 of the AMC tv series "The Walking Dead"?

Actually .. ha.. to no surprise.. Ronnie reminded me to put the Sunday October 16th season 2 premiere on the calendar.

 -

For anyone who is still in the dark .. "The Walking Dead" is based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman. And while I've never read them, I have to think that the AMC tv series is doing a decent job of showing the novels due justice. I say this because the tv series is surprising shocking and quite suspenseful in my opinion. The first episode is just so good and sets the tone.

If you have Directv and missed out on this show on the first run.. now is your chance to catch up with it being available on demand at the moment. If you enjoy gory zombie flicks in the style of "Night of the Living Dead" .. you definitely should check this show out! [Cool]

Just noticed that season 1 is now available on Netflix instant watch .. get on it zombie fans! [Smile]

The first season is only 6 episodes .. so you can catch up quick and still enjoy the season 2 premiere with us on Sunday night October 16th.

I like The Walking Dead not just for the zombies but the story and characters too. I'll be watching too.

I'm in! I've seen all of season one and love this show. I don't believe I have this channel, so I'm typically late seeing each episode....but I see it nonetheless!

First season here locally has been on the on-demand channel on cable which =no commercials.

Watching "The Walking Dead" season 2 premiere right now!

What did everyone think?

Posted by Dexter Motley Morgan (Member # 3598) on :

I was a little let down. Will continue watching but you can tell that Frank Darabont is missing this season already.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Motley, why were you let down? I thought it was a decent start, but if I were in that situation, I would have left. That woman can go help find her child.

I haven't seen the season two premiere yet, but I'm probably in the minority: I think that "The Walking Dead" is good, but not as rapturously great as a lot of folks claim that it is. It is tremendously well done--very cinematic and stylish--but it is like putting old wine in new bottles. There isn't a whole lot here that wasn't covered first and better by Romero in his zombie films or Zack Snyder's "Dawn" remake and the "28 Days/Weeks Later" films, which themselves were also old wine in new bottles. The fundamental problem is that it's all been pretty much done with zombies--they attack, you run/get bitten/shoot them in the head, repeat... Romero's films took that concept the whole way from simple survival to a new class structure in society. What else is there? "The Walking Dead" is a lot of fun, and the KNB f/x are especially excellent, but it's hardly a groundbreaking series, except, perhaps, to those who haven't seen the classic progentitors.

Yup that lady would have been on her own. It's amazing that alot of the forums on other sites were bashing people for saying that too lol. But the kid was 12 not 5 or 6! I was let down pitt cause I think the premiere focused too much on the lost kid. Good ending though.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Yes, they did focus too much on the lost kid.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

I am really liking how the show is focusing on the way the characters are reacting to one another, ..becoming more tolerant of each other in their survival as a group. So to me, them looking for the little girl, was a challenge in their personalities... it's what makes the show good, IMO.. it makes you question 'what would you do?'
I would absolutely have gone looking for the little girl, as I would hope those traveling with me, would help me as well... maybe it's because I am a mom? haha... difference is, if it were my kid, I would have been out there looking, not waiting around, blaming someone else.

Love the show!

Posted by Dexter Motley Morgan (Member # 3598) on :

It suprised me how Rick responded more quickly than the child's own mother. Last night's episode was much better than the season premiere IMO.

Enjoying season 2 of The Walking Dead this Halloween weekend..

The ending to tonight's episode was wicked!!

Happy Halloween everyone

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Wow, lots of tough stuff happening on the show. But it keeps me interested. I agree, Val.. another good episode.

Posted by Bamersy (Member # 8808) on :

Love it also-just got plugged in about a week ago when I saw S1 on Netflix/watched all 6 in a couple days. Have only seen ep 1 so far for this season-plus the "webisodes" which were very good. Daryl is my fave character-wondering about the bro and Morgan/son alot-hope to catch up soon [Smile]

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Bamersy, I love Daryl too. I love how he is so accurate with that crossbow! He is not afraid to kick some butt to protect the others.
Last night's episode was wild. But it was not unexpected, to me anyway.

Finally got to see the first three episodes...watched them all in one shot. Episode one, when all the zombies were walking past the cars....gotta say....that really creeped me out!

Really enjoyable so far, though I too find the pace a bit slow. If I rememeber correctly, only 12 episodes for this season....gotta get things going a bit faster.

I agree with Bamersy and Pitts re Daryl's character developing nicely...cetainly a different Daryl than we seen in Season 1....man's got a heart and a conscience in Season 2!

* And....my wife just enlightened me....I actually have this channel (which I didn't know), so aim to watch the next episodes as they air.....Sundays is it?

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

kevdug, it is on tonight at 9:00 PM eastern time in the States. I'm not sure what time it airs in Canada. Glad you are enjoying the show too.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Thanks Pitts...hoping to catch it tonight!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Last week's episode was boring [Roll Eyes] . But supposedly tonight's should pick up.

I agree that it tends to move at a slow pace, but it also does a good job during those real intense moments. It does focus on a lot of character development, (like Daryl)..which I feel is a good thing. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't matter if any of them died?

Hope you all tune in. [Smile]

I don't think Daryl could get any better after the ear necklace and squirrel tasting. [Razz] He's the best character.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Yes, Daryl was awesome again. I just wish they would move on from that farm.

Those are some great points you've made, and it's true that zombies can only do so much. But I feel that the great zombie movies are great because they aren't necessarily about the zombies. For example, the Romero films have a lot to say about the society at the time, and even the new Romero films like Diary of the Dead had it's own thing to say about people living their lives on camera.

I'm enjoying the Walking Dead because I want to get to know these people and how they react to the situations they are placed in. Right now, it seems to me that Herschel is likely a lot more dangerous to them than the Walkers themselves. It's the humanity that brings life to a story of the dead.

I hope that made sense!!

Devolution here,

I tend to agree on many relevant points made about this show. In no order...

1) More Zombie Death- in the last three shows there were maybe five total zombies. Zzz xxxxx.

2) Forget the girl, we have waited 5 episodes for a doll?!?!?!?she's dead. She's screwed. (Did I leave the iron on?)

3) Tie up loose ends from Season One, come on now!

We are DEVO

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Oh but Devo, what deaths they were! The zombie from the well that tore in two in glorious technicolor! Totally worth risking Glenn's life.

I also loved the shot on the zombie that Daryl shot through the face. I haven't read the comics but I can easily imagine that coming directly from the comic.

But yeah, Sophia's a goner. The sooner they get away from Herschel the better.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Some great character development, and again....pick up the pace.....they even showed excessive footage of Daryl climbing up the mountain....get up or stay down already!!!

I like Glenn's new girlfriend Maggie.....she's cute!

Gotta disagree with DEVO and Stitch....that girl is still alive you two!

Nice to see Merle Dixon re-appear Sunday night.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

As Jim Carrey put it (in Once Bitten).. "Okay.... now I'm angry!!" [Big Grin]

Let's ditch the farm, arleady.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

I agree Ronnie.....with episode six, that means the season is half over already?! The show seems to have all the necessary ingredients....just not mixing them properly!

The lady that plays Maggie was in a full season of another show I watch...Vampire Diaries. She's wayyy cuter on Walking Dead... more natural looking,..love her haircut on the show!

The show is going on it's winter break, right?

*spoiler*
Do you guys think what happened with Otis, will eventually come out?

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

I think there is one more episode, then a break util January I believe....they better speed things up!

*spoiler*

I think so Ronnie...I'm guessing Shane first tells Lori in a plight to magnify his love for her and Carl....wild guess....we'll see.

Also, *spoiler* at the end of the last episode when Lori tells Rick about her and Shane, it has him semi understanding, and seemingly cool with it all.....as if.....I think he's paraphrasing what she said and processing...then he'll blow his top at the beginning of the next episode!! [Eek!]

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

They need to leave Hershel's farm like right now! He does not want them there-
and the
**spoiler** creatures in the barn would scare me enough to want to get the heck out of there!
Ronnie, the girl who plays Maggie is really pretty and I love that haircut too. Makes me want to have straight hair even more [Frown]

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Go for it Pitts, go out and buy yourself a hair straightener!
I've had one for a few years now, for when I want that "just got out of bed look" - it takes a lot of hard work to look natural!!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Well? What did you all think of the midseason finale? I know some rewinders haven't seen all the episodes yet so beware of the

***spoilers***

They sure did wait til the very last 5 minutes to show us something! The group fighting at the beginning was intense. Everyone had a valid point, I thought.

Not suprised on finale Ronnie! Prob best episode of season so far IMO.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Even though I was accidently spoiled of the mid season finale, I was still heartbroken by that final scene.

Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :

Great episode....great ending. Probably should have figured the ending out, but somehow didn't...which was good, as it led to a great surprise at the end. Can't wait to see where they take us next....

I have one- I just don't use it all the time, and when my hair is shorter, it is really super curly. I like it longer cuz it's easier for me to style.

I really was not suprised by the mid-season finale. I just hope they get moving off of the farm now.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Agree with Pitts and Ronnie .. it is time to leave that freakin' farm in the dust! Great beginning episode of season 2 and mid-season finale ending was excellent... however, most of the stuff besides Daryl has been boring for me.

Just to keep everyone updated .. new episodes start up again on Sunday Feb. 12th at 9pm EST!

For anyone who might be interested...

AMC will be airing The Walking Dead marathon, beginning from the pilot episode, all of season one, through to the midseason finale from this season on New Years Eve. Good time to catch up! [Smile]

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

AMC recently announced that The Walking Dead Season 3 will consist of 16 episodes instead of 13 as originally announced. This Season (Season 2) consists of 13 episodes which is a 7 episode improvement over Season One’s 6 episode run. There is no word yet on when Season 3 will premiere or if Season 3 will be seperated into two parts with a mid season hiatus or not.

In other news, Glen Mazzara, Robert Kirkman, and the show’s writers have said that they don’t know what caused the zombie outbreak and they prefer to keep it that way.

Note to writers .. freakin' get Rick & the gang off that farm! Like now [Mad]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Val, you sort of lost me in the first half of that post haha. It's a good thing you put it in writing, otherwise I'd forget everything you said! Ha! [Big Grin]

Haha also in other news.. just watched the Lady Gaga video for "Judas" and saw Norman Reedus (Daryl) in it, as a biker. Exciting stuff! [Wink]

Less than 1 month before it returns!

Posted by Bamersy (Member # 8808) on :

The ending with Sophie didn't happen in the books-according to a friend that's read them. Like him or not, Herschel's reaction to his "people" getting killed was so real-I could feel the pain!

According to IMDB Norman Reedus modeled for Prada, has a son with Helena Christensen, and has a titanium eye socket!

Really enjoyed the first show back .. hope that can keep it going!

David Morrisey is reportedly being cast to play the Governer in Season 3.

I'll finish off this series and then this show can do one.
