Here's a few I definitely want to check out:

The Firm

Ringer

Grimm

Terra Nova

Possibly:

Revenge

Pan Am

New Girl

What else should I add to the list?

I was reading about the new shows in a magazine. They were introducing the new men of primetime TV! I want to at least give these a chance:

Pan Am
Revenge

With all the other shows I watch, starting back up this month.. I won't have much time for many newer ones. I could always record them, but at some point, they will end up on netflix anyway, right? [Wink]

That sure is a long list above.. so many new shows. Shows get cancelled pretty quickly these days too.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

So very true Ronnie.. so many new shows and most will be cancelled quickly. Plus, like you said .. we already have a rather full line-up of returning shows to work in. But I'll probably DVR at least the ones I mentioned above.

So you based your choices on who the 'new' men of primetime will be? [Big Grin]

Let me know if any other shows catch your eye in the coming weeks. No plans to try "The Firm" ?

Did you hear that one of the networks was developing a tv show on the 80's movie "Romancing the Stone" ?

Thanks for the breakdown you two.......now is there a good site where I can see some visuals???? I'm a visual person.....otherwise i'll forget?

I really want to check out Ringer Valley....thanks for reminding me......Geller really is great in action roles. I love her.

So if you guys have ondemand.....they are already showing the pilot of New Girl.....I was bored and I watched it......it actually wasn't bad......sorta cute. Those Deschanel girls have charisma.....Bones is one of those I love to watch!

oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh and the previews for Once Upon a Time look like they are straight outta of the Henson 80's studios!!! might need to check it out.....have you guys seen them?

I may watch some of these:
Hart of Dixie, Good Christian Belles, Pan Am, Revenge, The Finder, Terra Nova, The Playboy Club and Person of Interest.
That show 2 Broke Girls looks horrible, awful, yuck. Totally stilted poor acting from the previews I've seen. It's like a bad sitcom from the 70's or 80's where no one can act.

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

I am definitely interested in Grimm and Once Upon a Time. There is also a new show coming out in October on the FX channel called American Horror Story that sounds interesting too.

Muffy, I heard from reviews that New Girl is one of the more promising new shows coming out.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Oh, yeah, how could I forget about American Horror Story- I am definitely checking that one out. My husband already said "I am not watching!", lol. He hates scary movies or shows.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Veronica/Pitts..

American Horror Story is going to be crazy almost too over the top in a way possibly .. but with Connie Britton and Jessica Lange in the cast.. I have to give it a chance.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

As a help in figuring out your DVR plans .. here's a few premiere dates on some of the shows we've mentioned of interest:

The Ringer - Tuesday  9/13

The Playboy Club - Monday 9/19

New Girl - Tuesday 9/20

Revenge - Wednesday 9/21

Person of Interest - Thursday 9/22

Pan Am - Sunday 9/25

Terra Nova - Monday 9/26

Hart of Dixie - Monday 9/26

American Horror Story - Wednesday 10/5

Grimm - Friday 10/21

Once Upon A Time - Sunday 10/23

Good Christian Belles  - 2012

The Finder - I could not find the date, but you would think it would have a "Bones" lead in.

I am on the fence with Ringer, since there is sooooo much stuff on Tuesdays that I watch already! Maybe dvr, I'm not sure.

http://www.tvline.com/fall-preview-2011/

Here is a preview of the fall season. If you click on The Schedule, it tells you what dates everything starts. I am guessing The Finder will be late winter/early spring 2012.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Ok .. I'm gonna try "Ringer" first .. one of my DVRs is set to record.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I may watch Last Man Standing and New Girl. Nothing else appeals to me. Plus, I'm tired of getting interested in new shows and then they get cancelled before they're even given a chance.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

I know how you feel, petty.

Hey Val, thanks for listing the dates. I was going through the websites, trying to list everything I want to check out, but remembered that you posted it here, for my convenience ha. [Wink]

Hmmmm.. The Ringer falls on Tuesdays, along with Glee, Raising Hope and New Girl (those three shows on Fox). Dang it, that's 4 shows in one evening.

I'm not a fan of SMG, but I will check out Ringer, it might be good. [Smile]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

I recorded Ringer, just need to watch...

I watched Secret Circle.. it definitely feels like it will be a hit. Plus, it's on right after Vampire Diaries, and I heard it had a big opening night.

Oh and the Prime-time Emmy Awards are on tomorrow night, Sunday on Fox. [Smile]

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I DVRed Secret Circle also but haven't watched it yet. I saw previews for American Horror Story...it looked good.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I watched about 5 minutes of Two Broke Girls last night...couldn't get thru anymore.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I watched the first episode of Ringer. I have the 2nd episode recorded and will watch it later on today. We watched The Playboy Club on Monday. Both shows are okay, will give them a shot, but not spectacular. Tonight I'll be watching Revenge at 10:00.
Petty, did you watch New Girl? We saw a little bit of it- well hubby did while I was doing up the dishes and I heard him laughing. We also watched Raising Hope, which I had only watched once last season. Classic Greg Garcia show- it was hilarious!

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

I've already fallen behind .. but I plan on getting caught up this weekend.

The second episode of "Ringer" was better than the first in my opinion. I'm enjoying it, though it has a few too many soap opera qualities to it. Oh the guy from "Lost" still hasn't aged. [Big Grin]

"The Secret Circle" is currently my sleeper pick. Of course, maybe I should wait to comment after watching the second episode.

I've got "New Girl" and "Revenge" recorded .. should I watch them?

Planning on Pan Am Sunday night ..

And definitely this on Monday night though my Monday nights are crazy already:

Terra Nova

Finally, I want to see "American Horror Story" and "Grimm" when they start.

But like I said, no way to keep up with all the returning shows and movies I already watch.. so let's see how quickly the cancellations come.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I enjoyed the second episode of Ringer more than the first episode. A little suprise in the ending there, and we also have Dexter's ex-girlfriend playing the husband's business partner. She seems quite devious in Ringer too!
Revenge was good- I think it will pick up after the first episode. I think it is like that with alot of pilots to set up the plot and characters. Revenge is being touted as a soap opera. I guess a soap opera for the 2000's? We'll be watching Pan Am too, but I don't have much faith in it. BTW, I thought that Eddie Cibrian's character in The Playboy Club sounded as though he took the Don Draper Diction course (Jon Hamm's character in Mad Men). He sounded just like DD himself- I would have thought it was him if I closed my eyes.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yeah, Pitt, I watched the New Girl. It was really funny! I watched the first ep of Secret Circle. I think it's gonna be just an okay show, but it's already sucked me in, so I've got the DVR set. I have to see what's gonna happen lol!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

I liked the second episode of Ringer as well. It's very suspenseful and intriguing.

I have been trying to remember to record so many things, that I totally forgot to record the premiere of Nikita on Friday grrrr... [Roll Eyes]

I will record Pan Am..and I started watching Playboy club but once I saw Eddie Cibrian.. I was like, blech! Never liked him.

I still haven't watched New Girl, but I recorded it. I saw a few pieces of it when it was on and Zooey looked annoying but I will have to wait and see it.

Raising Hope was great, love that show and Martha Plimpton is awesome... she looked great at the Emmy's..loved her dress!

I saw the preview for American Horror Story, I would like to see it.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

I thought Pan Am was boring. I'll give it another try next Sunday, but if it is still boring, I'll just watch the last two episodes of the season for Breaking Bad.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

I thought New Girl was ok.. like I said, I found Zooey to be annoying? I will continue to watch and see where it goes. But it's on between Glee and Raising Hope, it will be hard to miss.

Revenge was good. I'm waiting patiently (not) for the next episode. [Smile]

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

I have only made it through 5 minutes of Pan Am .. just don't know about it.

Totally enjoying "Ringer" and "The Secret Circle". The second episode of "Ringer" was quite entertaining and far better than the pilot.

"Revenge" was wicked cool. I'm concerned that they are telling us too much too quick, but a great first episode to dangle the carrot in front of us. And Madeleine Stowe was just fantastic in my opinion.

I recorded "Terra Nova" .. but finding a couple of hours to watch it will be tricky.

And "New Girl" was just ok for me.. Liked the "Dirty Dancing" references, but overall I'm not sure yet.

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

I watched the first episode of The Secret Circle, it was okish. Will give the next episode a go. Also watched the first episode of Ringer and really enjoyed that.

I'll definitely give American Horror Story a look if it's shown here.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

It looks as though Playboy Club is probably going to be cancelled really soon. It is not doing well. I gave it a chance, but even after the second episode, I just didn't like it. It feels like it is missing something.
Revenge was great.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Pitts.. Playboy Club needs to go.

Loving Revenge! I almost didn't watch it, because the previews didn't click with me for some reason. The first two episodes have been suspenseful. Love the character of Emily/Amanda.

Secret Circle has been just ok..hope it gets better.

Don't forget people... Walking Dead returns soon!!

person of intrest is a awesome show

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Good Package- I am liking Person of Interest too! I love James Caviezel!

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

American Horror Story is on tonight on F/X. And Ronnie- there is a bonus episode of Raising Hope on Fox tonight.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Prime Suspect is awesome (don't remember if I said that before lol). Anyway, some of you were talking about the inevitable cancellation of Playboy Club...heard today on our local news that it's officially a goner.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

The best new show that I've tried is definitely "Revenge"!

Emily VanCamp is so brilliant as the girl that looks all sweet, but her desire for revenge trumps all else. Seeing Matthew Glave who played Glenn in "The Wedding Singer" still dressed in his best Don Johnson Miami Vice threads was such a surprise.

"Ringer" is my second choice .. not quite as good, but still very entertaining with some nice twists.

"The Secret Circle" had a great pilot episode, but has only been decent since. I did enjoy the ending of the last episode.

I'm gonna dvr "The American Horror Story" with hopes to watch it tomorrow night.

Not loving Revenge.....I saw the 1st two episodes.....I think it's too much drama for me, and not unique enough....just my opinion.

but I did watch American Horror Story and it scared me! it creeped me out to the point I fell asleep and had a nightmare....thanks a lot scary show....and I watch a lot of scary stuff [Smile] it was different and unique.....i'll watch it and have nightmares again.

Posted by Muffy Tepperman (Member # 1551) on :

Did any of you all watch American Horror Story??? I want to talk about it....haha

Ringer is getting pretty bad.....I can barely watch it.....I like Sarah Michelle Geller.....that's all that's keeping me....

I'm really loving Happy Endings.......it's cute and quirky.....

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

Just watched the pilot of American Horror Story, Muffy. That show is just all kinds of creepy but I liked it! I have so many questions though...what is up with the housekeeper and the guy in the black suit?? and then that scene in the basement with Violet too. I'm so confused, haha. Also, bonus points for there being a mention of Morrissey in it!

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

American Horror Story isn't showing here until next month, booo.

I loved the first episode of Ringer but the second wasn't all that good [Frown] 3rd is on here tomorrow.

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

10 minutes into the 3rd episode of The Secret Circle and I've officially given up. Not wasting any more time on such mediocrity [Razz]

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Muffy, don't give up yet on Ringer. The 4th episode was excellent and will keep you guessing after the ending!
I am still liking Revenge. American Horror story was all kinds of scary, creepy and insane! I am assuming they will answer some of our questions further into the series. It seems like a very different show for Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton.
First new episode of Pysch season 6 was last night and did not disappoint with 80's references and lol humor! Darth Vader action figure, an old Chips episode, etc.

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

I loved the 3rd episode of Ringer [Smile]

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

My favorite new show is still "Revenge".. followed by "Ringer" which has gotten more interesting with each episode.

Muffy .. "American Horror Story" is a wild ride and definitely creepy cool. So much to take in and it keeps you on the edge of your seat because you just can't predict what is next.

Same here...

And I look forward to Wednesdays, because of Revenge and American Horror Story. I love AHS because there is something crazy going on in every scene. Love it. Ringer is good, but it's sort of down the list on my favorite shows.

Hell on Wheels in 12 days!

http://www.amctv.com/shows/hell-on-wheels/about

American Horror Story would be a good show with a different cast of actors and actresses. Dylan McDermont is horrid lol. You know it's time for a change when Rubberman is the best actor.

Hi everybody!

So i've given up on Revenge it's just not my cup of tea.

Ringer i'm about to give up on.....it's too soapy.....do know that it takes a lot for new movies and tv shows to make me like them.....

on that note!!! I LOVE AHS....it's creepy scary....original. All day yesterday my buddies at work and I were trying to out guess the other at what it going on.....it really has us all going. That to me......is the sign of a great new show.

Ronnie it's wednesday!!! woo wooo [Smile]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

So uhhh...uhhh... Beavis & Butthead... back on tv! [Big Grin] [Wink] Sorry, but I love it ha.

Motley, Hell On Wheels does look good!

Muffster, *sigh*.. you know I'm happy. [Smile]

Still lovin' AHS. It has just enough scandal going on in it, to satisfy me, ha.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Motley, I agree about American Horror Story! I'm excited about Hell on Wheels. It looks promising.

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

Just watched the first episode of American Horror Story. That was...what was that - Can't wait for the next ep [Razz]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Helen, did you really like AHS? Have you watched another ep? It's on tonight! woo!

My brother and Muffy got me interested in 2 Broke Girls haha, I am currently catching up on the show online. It's super cute. [Smile]

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

Yeah I did Ronnie. I've seen episodes 2 and 3 since. Those ones have been less wacky, but better I think [Smile]

Posted by Dexter Motley Morgan (Member # 3598) on :

Hell on Wheels has not disappointed thus far IMO.

I love love love that Beavis and Butthead are back!! I especially enjoy when they make fun of the Jersey Shore!!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Woo hoo! American Horror Story was nominated for a Golden Globe for best drama show and Jessica Lange was also nominated for her role in the show. [Smile]

I don't recall seeing Walking Dead on the list of noms..
but another new show that was nominated was New Girl, for best comedy of course.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

So what new shows did everyone end up keeping up with?

My list:

Revenge
Ringer
American Horror Story (I'm behind, but enjoying it)

Plus: I'm gonna give 'The Firm' a try

Returning Shows:

Pretty Little Liars
The Walking Dead
American Idol
The Voice
DWTS

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Val, I am with you on PLL, Walking Dead and Idol.
Funny, all the shows we started off watching at the beginning of fall, and we only stuck with a few? Ha.

AHS really got crazy, while Revenge stayed suspenseful and intriguing, yet Walking Dead was somewhat stagnant for it's first half of the season.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Does anyone watch Suburgatory? I've watched a few episodes on Ondemand. I caught the tail end of an episode a few weeks back and thought it looked good. It is a really cute and funny look at living in the 'burbs.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Well, any of us that invest in new tv shows each year realize there is a risk that when we start to enjoy a show .. it might suddenly be cancelled or if we are little more lucky cancelled after the first season finishes. But it is hard if it is a show that you like and they so often leave us with so many unresolved loose ends.

click the link and hope you don't see a new show that you really enjoyed

Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :

[Mad] I love Ringer

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Helen .. I was fan of "Ringer" too! I really thought the show had found its groove toward the end of the season.

Same thing with Ashley Judd's "Missing" .. it started slow, but the last several weeks were fantastic. But I'm probably biased because Ashley Judd went to my college and I've always rooted for her.

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Wow.. it's like none of them had a chance?

Ringer got boring.. I had read that it was going to be canceled for a while.

Breaking In was canceled again. Sheesh...

The Finder was ok, I caught a few episodes. Harry's Law had a horrible time slot.. I am not surprised about most of these.

Val.. you are definitely biased.

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Ronnie .. ouchy

That is a great point though about the shows not getting a chance. Unfortunately, it is all about ratings and it is sad that promising shows are cancelled so quickly. It isn't fair to the shows and it definitely isn't fair to the viewers that put new shows on their watching schedule.

The Networks all but beg us to check out these new shows .. then dump us if the show doesn't get a big enough audience right from the start. [Frown]

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

Shows I am going to try out:

New show on CW based on the super hero Green Arrow...

The new Dallas!

I'm going to finally begin Breaking Bad, there are a few rewinders that I know watch it, plus it's been recommended to me by several other people I know. I understand the show's 5th and final season is on it's way.

I think I might be done with the competition shows. [Frown]
