I watched the first audition tonight.... I see we've been introduced to this year's Danny Gokey - the good looking Morman who beat cancer.

Great singer, but so was Gokey, I just hope he doesn't earn my hatred like Gokey did.

Meh, I wasn't too impressed, overall, last night. There were some good singers, but nobody really jumped out at me. They go to Hotlanta tonight so we'll see.

I agree 100% with what petty said. Some decent singers but nobody that I feel will be anywhere near the final 2.

I had to work last night so had to convince 6 teenagers that they really wanted to see American Idol...which ultimately means...I actually got to see very little of the show!

That Jermaine guy is by far the best so far this season of the ones we've seen.

"Pants on the Ground" guy was LOL and I have major respect for him.

What about Lamar? hahaha...

I was embarrassed for Lamar

Yes he is!! He was great.

That Pants on the Ground guy was flippin hilarious! I can honestly see him having a hit with that song...be it a one hit wonder, but still.

Which one was Lamar? Was he the one who effed them all the way out on the street?

yup that was Lamar

Not one performance from Chicago that one would call great? What a lousy group of singers.

Posted by Sir Sammy Hain Esq. (Member # 3150) on :

Orlando really had some great singers. Some potential finalists to be found there. Best city so far this season by far IMHO.

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

Matthew Lawrence is the best contestant they've shown so far, I think.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i watched it last week but missed it this tuesday but you are right lamar was pretty funny!! i will have to watch it nest week but so far i was not too impressed with any of them either? worse then last year in my opinion!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

The last guy from the Orlando auditions...the one who'd been in jail...I liked him. Kara said he could make the top 12. He was very, very good. Chicago auditions sucked.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

oh yeah i remember him pettyfan he was good have to watch it tuesday and see what's going on again lol!

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i don't know what it is, but this season has sucked so far. i know it's only a couple weeks and 4 episodes in, but wow, absolutely NO ONE is standing out to me. ok wait.. i take that back.. the chick from tennessee (from week 1)..i remember her, liked her voice. i don't remember anyone else at this point.
if it wasn't for pants on the ground guy, the show would be a total bust for me so far. of course, i'll keep watching, though.

Posted by Jessie the Sunflower Goddess (Member # 1877) on :

I like the young girl that wore cowboy boots and had extremely curly hair. I think she was on last Tuesday's episode like the first audition. Keep your eyes on her.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i liked chris last night he was the one that was in foster homes all his life? and i also like the girl from tuesday with the black hair that sang pat benatar good rocker voice! the rest were lame!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i missed the show last night was there anyone worth listening to? bill is gonna watch enter the dragon with bruce lee it is on at 8;00 tonight on amc channel i believe i like it too so i will probably watch it with him lol

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

There were some pretty good ones last night. The girl at the end, who grew up poor and said she thought all kids went w/o eating, she was really good.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Okay, Matthew Lawrence, the guy who'd been in jail...was he just not there or did they just not show him or did I just miss it?

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

I didn't see Matthew either!

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Just watched the final 24 announcement from last night... I had only seen one audition so I've got no perceptions of people... however I feel so sorry for that poor girl who has tried for the last 3 years, I was sure they'd put her through as she makes for a good story. The poor darling was devestated, I don't think she'll be back again.

I didn't get to see too much of the personalities so I can't say yet who I like or dislike, I guess I'll start forming my opinions next week when the performances begin.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i have not been watching this season either stitch just not into it for some reason maybe i will next week and see if anyone is worth watching lol also if this is simon's last season with idol i probably won't watch it at all anymore it won't be the same without him for sure!

Girls Top 12, here's my take

First girl I missed (Paige I think)

Ashley - I like here but bad choice of song, she seemed out of tune a little, I think the song was too big for right now. Maybe in the future...

Janell - Not really memorable

Lily - I only heard the beginning, I was dragged away kicking and screaming, but kudos to anyone who sings the Beatles.

Caitlin - walked in during the judges comments, don't know what she sang but she was getting a good response. I did laugh when Randy told her not to box herself into a style, because that's what he loves to do the contestants, year in year out. (Note, saw the recap, she did the Beatles too, wow three in one night)

Haeley - Another Beatles song, and really cool and modern. I could imagine Colbie Caillat singing this. Loved it, even though she's dressed as a nurse! Judges were right though about the upper notes.

Lacey - oh honey no. I like her voice, it's very interesting but this was so NOT the song for her. I'm glad she loves the song and that it speaks to her, but please next time choose a song you can sing. I hope she gets another chance to do so. Uh oh, she openly admitted she disagrees with Simon, she's toast.

Michelle - wow she's gorgeous and she seems sweet. I hope she can sing.
Tough song, Fallin'. I love her vibrato. Very very good job. Simon was right, there was no "wow" moment but she is definately safe.

Didi - I liked it first but it didn't go anywhere. Her style is very popular here in Australia right now.

Siobhan - I agree with Kara, a suprising choice but a good one. Lovely falsetto. I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the best performance of the night so far. I think Simon is intrigued by her.

Crystal - the anti-Idol. Anti Idols have enjoyed some decent success here in Oz. That was a great performance, great song for her voice, the harmonica could have been stupid but it worked for her in the context of the song, and I loved the arrangement of the song, it put the emphasis on the opposite beat to the original.

Last girl. Can't really remember her, wasn't impressive.

Were the microphones turned down too low tonight? Everyone seemed too quite, or the band was too loud.

I liked Ellen, I was worried she would be too positive and end up as useless as teats on a bull, but her criticism was very constructive - encouraging but not misleading.

PS thank god for +2 TV, I was able to catch the show again 2 hours later and caught some of the performances I missed first time around.

My predictions - so long Lacey and last gir.

Best year huh? Yeah right!! I sure hope the guys are better.

Posted by Secret Admirer (Member # 3574) on :

I have to admit that the girls' performances were all pretty disappointing. I generally don't ever like the guys on AI, so I'm not expecting much from them.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

And time for the lads...

Todrick - really cool interesting version of "Since you've been gone". Probably moved away from the melody a little too much, but as Ellen said, I like that he took a chance. I agreed with all the judges in a way. Simon said the murdered it, but it wasn't that bad.

Aaron - he has a decent country voice for a 16 year old. I didn't think it was anything special but it wasn't bad enough to see him going home just yet.

Jermaine - singing "Get here". Doesn't this song have a good history with AI? I have a feeling that Guarini sang it way back in Season 1 and made the ladies swoon. He's good but he reminds me of a lot of other past contestants - Nikko Smith and Anwar Robinson in particular. There were slight tones of Usher and Neyo in there too, but he doesn't sound unique enough for me.

Tim - Who did he replace? What's the goss? He's a bit sharp in places, and his falsetto is not good, and in a song like "Apologise" you need a great falsetto. I don't like his hair. Unless there's a major improvment, I don't think he's Top 12 material.

Joe - I don't know the song and I can barely hear the music. I like his voice and he connects with the camera really well.

Tyler - he had the swagger to pull this off. He does need more booze and drugs to pull it off fully though lol. I wasn't blown away but I wasn't disappointed. Simon's point about him going to "want to be a rock star school" was interesting coz I thought his diction was too perfect for the song, hence my booze and drugs comment.

Lee - seems like a nice guy but Snow Patrol? They've been the kiss of death on Australian Idol for the last few years. He's adding intensity to the song that's not normally there but he's also going off key at the same time. I hope he makes it through, he seems like a good guy. I didn't watch the preliminary rounds so if Simon thinks this is his best performance, how bad was he before?

John - interesting lower register, I hope his upper is good. His voice reminds of Marty Pellow from "Wet Wet Wet". Not the best choice of song, it didn't really show him off to the best of his ability. I do like his vibrato. I didn't think it was flat like Simon said, but I agree that it was emotionless. Just because a song is important to you doesn't mean you can sing it well.

Michael - I want him to do well, just from watching the package. The tempo is too fast. He's singing it well though. Kara is correct - it wasn't superb but compared to what came before it, it was terrific.

Alex - I like his voice, but once again he sang the wrong song. A recurring theme for tonight. He reminds me a little of Eliot Yamin. Didn't quite get all the notes... I hope that wasn't his best.

Casey - best of the night so far. Awesome. I just wish he'd cut his hair, because underneath it all there's a very handsome man. It's obvious the judges love him with all the joking.

Andy - I don't know the song but I think he's doing a really good job. He missed a couple of the highest notes, but the song showed of his range and style really well.

What's with the music tonight? Last night it was too loud for the girls, tonight it was way to quiet and the vocals were too prominent in the arrangements.

My predictions - almost impossible to pick who'll go home. I know that Casey, Andy and Joe will be safe.
I pick Tim and Jermaine to go.

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

I liked Lee and Casey the best. I felt really bad for Tim because he had tears in his eyes after his performance....I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed another week due to sympathy votes.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i liked casey lee and tyler i think tyler could be a good rocker if he belted it out more?

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Lee's hot... [Wink] Ahem, anyway, I liked him, Casey and Big Mike. Voice-wise, I liked Casey best. He's not bad to look at either. [Wink] I think the guys did MUCH better than the girls, but as I've said before, I'm not a big fan of female singers in general. Never have been.

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Todrick- awful rendition of Since you've Been Gone, and he is waaaaay too full of himself. Same with Jermaine. Aaron has a great voice. Hope he does better next week. Casey James is hot with all of his hair, and he can sing. Don't cut your hair Casey- it's what the chicks like!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I liked Aaron, too. Even if he did sing a Rascal Flatts song lol. I detest Rascal Flatts.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Well I didn't pick any of the evictees this week. I don't really care that Janell is gone but Ashley was a shock. Her performance last night wasn't great, but she was being pimped strongly.

I'm very suprised about Joe being eliminated, I thought his voice was terrific. Tyler was another shock elimination, again coz he'd been pimped quite a bit, but I'm glad Alex Lambert got to stay, I like him.

Boohoo Tyler, stop whining.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I had a feeling Tyler would go.

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

Tyler's performance was pretty horrible vocals-wise. Joe didn't deserve to leave that early though. Like I said, Tim got the sympathy votes....

Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :

i can see why munoz was voted out. his performance was completely FORGETTABLE. no one was going to remember him with that performance. these contestants choose songs that are way too big for them to sing (ashley) or choose these obscure songs (songs that the general public won't recognize) so they run that risk.
ashley deserved to go, she did an awful job trying to sing that leona lewis song.
tyler wasn't THAT bad.. not as bad as tim, that's for sure. but america is going to give him another chance, i guess.
simon said everything right. they need to choose the right songs.
in reality, they all weren't really that fantastic. some stood out because they were able to at least carry the tune..and there were only a handful that sang on key.

casey was good, aaron was better. and i love lee. hope he does better next week. not a big fan of andrew garcia, but we'll see if he steps it up too.
the girls are a lost cause to me, at this point. well, maybe not so much with crystal. i really like her. but she needs to really rock out. like simon said, she sounded as though she was singing in a subway. it's true.

So it's boys tonight, coz Crystal is in hospital and can't perform under doctor's orders. I hope she gets better, I like her so far.

Top 10 Boys -

Mike - Very very good, a major improvement on last week. Our current Idol Stan Walker performed this last year and knocked everyones socks off.

John - I don't know this song. Is there a blues/soul theme tonight? It was a decent performance but I didn't think much of the song. Not memorable for being good or for being bad. He was emotionless in his song last week - this could be an ongoing problem.

Casey - was very good last week. A song with Idol history, wow. Oh, it's "I don't wanna be". I like the song but I think only Bo Bice did it justice on the show. The chorus is very difficult to pull of in this song and he's doing well but not brilliant. It wasn't too low in his register like I remember it was for Chris Richardson. He's very good on the axe too! Probably a small step down from last week for me.

Alex - I don't know this song either but I like it and he did a good job. This was a much better choice of song than last week and it really suited his voice.

Todrick - More toned down that last week, perhaps too much? Poor guy can't win. I do like this performance tho - OK he's building it up now. He's a very good singer there's no denying that but he needs to find a style that people enjoy.

Jermaine - before the ad break, Ryan announced "Jermaine coming up next" and I was like who? I had to look back at my notes from last week to remember who he was. And he's doing another old boring song that's been done to death on this show. Why not try something modern. Chris Brown (boo), Neyo, Usher... I don't care how this guy sounds, I want him to go just for being dull.

Andrew - I love this song! Good song, good voice, nice song.. in theory it should work but sadly there was something off about it. At times he sounded both sharp and flat at the same time which is simply not possible yet here we are! He finished well by holding the notes without embellishment but it was not enough.

Aaron - More vibrato in his voice than I noticed last week. I still don't get why everyone is doign such old songs tonight. Get with the program people! Having said that, this was a decent performance, good enough to keep him here for another week.

Tim - another trainwreck? Slightly sharp during the first verse, the chorus saw an improvement. 2nd verse sharp again. Tim has to go home this week or he runs the risk of becoming the new Sanjaya.

Lee - I really hope he does better than last week coz I like him. Listening to his package, was he the one who spent time in prison? Does anyone know? Oh God he's singing Hinder. Someone please shoot him and put him out of my misery. He's making it really difficult for me to like him. He's singing it well and it's definately a better performance that last week and actually one of the best tonight.

Best performances tonight - first and last, Mike and Lee.
Time to go - John and Jermaine

Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :

I totally agree with your comments. Lee and Mike were the best of the bunch. I actually thought Tim Urban did a much better job this week and was even better than some of the others.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i fianlly watched the guys last night and my two faves are lee and casey i love lee's voice nice and raspy!! lol i would love to hear him sing a nickelback song!!

Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Todrick- another awful performance. I guess he must get sympathy votes from the little pre-teen girls who think he is cute.
Jermain- more bad attitude from a church-goer? He is a jerk. Hope these two get voted off.
Tim- awful too.
Imissed the second half because I watch Lost. No reason to record it as I'm sure the internet will be filled with reviews of last night's and tonight's performances.
I hope that Crystal gets a brush and comb and fixes that mess.

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Stitch, Lee wasn't the guy who was in prison...he didn't make it past group night. His name was Matthew Lawrence.

I loved Lee last night. [Big Grin] He's my new David Cook I think, LOL. I also liked Aaron, Big Mike and Casey was good, but not as good as he was last year.

I agree--seems like only Bo where is he now Bice was the only one who did justice to I Don't Wanna Be.

Oh, and LOL @ Pitt's description of Crystal!!

Kara is a million times more irritating than last year.

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i agree with you kara is very annoying she is one of the reasons i haven't watched that much this year? i did watch to see who went home last night and wasn't surprised either? glad lee is still safe! so far from what i heard from the girls i really only like lacy?

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

I don't like Lacey at all. I sure am glad Haeley went home though.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

I missed the girls performances show and the results show this week but luckily Fox8 here repeats it all on Saturdays. The girls were overall so much better than the guys, and I especially liked Siobhan, Paige, Caitlyn, Lily and Crystal. I even liked Didi but I think I might be alone there.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Thank god for Saturday Idol catchups. First, the girls -

Katie - I like her range, she has a nice lower register and had no trouble with the higher notes in the chorus. Not fantastic but not really memorable.

Siobhan - I like Siobhan but she's a slooow talker dude.... Very brave to start acapella. I liked this performance, it was unusual but not too much so it will put voters off. She has been one of the most consistant over the last 3 weeks.

Lacey - I don't know the song but it's lovely and a good choice for her voice. I hope she makes it through.

Catelyn, Caitlyn, Caitlin - I'm more used to the Martika version so this seemed a little underwhelming to me. Randy's right, she sang it well but there was no connection.

Didi - Wow, she made this sound like a brand new song, I could imagine Feist or Colby Caillat singing Rhiannon in this style.

Paige - my favorite girl this season, she's so unusually beautiful. Oh no Paige, what are you doing? I'm afraid you've just written your ticket home. It's nice to hear the more vulnerable side to her voice, but I think it also bought out her failings as a singer. Poor sweetie.

Crystal - Best of the night so far! I don't think she put a foot wrong with this performance, in fact, I don't think she's made a mis-step in any of the live shows so far! Guaranteed final 5 at least!

Lily - A risky, quirky song choice, but one that Lily can get away with.

Who's gonna go home? Katie and, I'm sorry to say, Paige. Maybe Caitlyn in an upset.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

And for the boys -

Lee - is singing my current obsession in "Fireflies". I liked it, he performed strongly, but without all the bleeps and bloops it wasn't exactly Fireflies.

Alex - dull song, saved only by Alex's voice. I hope he makes it through.

Tim - I know it's a hard song, but anyone can make a mark with this song. But, he did it better than I would have expected and just might have saved his skin.

Andrew - this is OK, but it proves that he is a one trick pony, and that trick is performing simplified acoustic covers of light pop songs. In my opinion that doesn't make him a real artist - and it seems Cowell agrees with me.

Casey - oh jeez, Keith Urban. Excuse me while I go dry heave! I'm suprised to hear that Casey is the oldest of the guys this year. I'd have picked Andrew. Song's over? Sweet zombie jesus, at least I can wake up again now.

Aaron - Don't the judges rip through anyone who tries to sing this song? I remember at least twice in the last couple of years, Simon has lambasted singers for singing about being "already there" when they are in fact nowhere and about to go home. Aaron is so likable, I want him to do well but if he makes the Top 12, he'll be lucky to survive to Top 9 week. He definately commits everything and connects his emotions to the song, and his vocals improved in the second half.

Todrick - not so whacky this week, much more wonderful. This was an excellent gospel-esque version of a really tough song. This should see him through to the Top 12.

Big Mike - Wow

Who's gonna go home? It's tough one. Andrew Garcia and either Tim or Aaron.

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Didi and Siobhan are safe.

Ryan has called Paige and Catelyn down together, I think this means Paige is going home.

OMG, Paige is safe, I'm so relieved! But Catelyn is going home which is a shame coz I really liked her too.

Casey is safe. Meh

Tim is safe. that sucks but he was much better last night.

Lee has been more consistant than Todrick, but Todrick was very good last night. It should be Lee in the Top 12 - and it is. Good.

Crystal is safe. Big Mike is safe.

Lacey is safe. Aaron is safe.

It's between Alex and Andrew, Alex is a better talent than Andrew, and in a perfect world should go through. But it's not a perfect world, and Alex misses out. I'm gonna miss his soulful voice.

And finally, it's Katie and Lily. It's been a night of suprises, so this is probably gonna end badly, with Lily going home. And so it is...

4 terrific singers go home tonight. But the Top 12 is mostly very very good, with the exception of Andrew and Katie, who are at talented, and Tim.

I'm sooooo glad Lilly went home!

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

REally? I quite liked her. Maybe it was the weird faces she pulled while she sang last week that saw her get sent packing?

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

lilly did make alot of faces when she sang but not a bad voice i am just glad lee is still there so far my fave !!

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :

Yep, Lee is my fave too!

Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

i was not too impressed with the way they sang the stones songs last night the rolling stones always have alot of energy when they sing these songs and they all slowed them down way too much kinda boring i would say. my faves are still lee, chivon, and tim

Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :

Top 12! Live! woo!!!

Big Mike - not bad but not a patch on the last few weeks. He'll be safe for sure

Didi - I thought this was great, really intense and moody.

Casey - Not bad, I could hear something like this at the local pub. I don't think he's got a true rock voice but at least he's not as fake as Constantine.

Lacey - I like Lacey but I have a terrible feeling that she won't last long in the competition. Not a brilliant performance, she needs to start showing more range.

Andrew - This guy still has to prove himself to me in order to earn his spot here, IMO. It was OK, he was off key a few times, his voice cracked a number of times on the high notes.

Katie - this was OK, nothing amazing, but it really is such a beautiful song. And finally a song I know! I'm not much of a Strolling Bones fan.

Tim - terrible. This is what Jason Castro might have done if he was here this year but he would have sung it better.

Siobhan - I know this song too! This was a terrific performance and arrangement. Those high notes, wow! Best performance of the night so far. Will be interesting to hear what criticisms the judges have. Her smile reminds me of Demi Lovato.

Lee - I like Lee, he's cute. He gives of a Kris Allen "nice guy" vibe. I like this, this is the type of arrangement Tim should have gone for.

Paige - my favorite. She's looking and sounding great tonight. She looks really confident. Much improved over last week's disaster. I like how she's changed the gender of the song. She's quite unusual, I'm sure she's the first black (oops, African American) rocker the show has ever had!

Aaron - haha, his mum is named Kelly Kelly. This kid continues to impress. Not perfect by a long shot, but for a 16 year old it was a good song choice and I don't think he's shown the softer timbre in his voice before. And Randy agrees with me!

Crystal - this chick is such a natural. Is gonna be like Fantasia, where it's obvious from the start that she's gonna win? Best performance of the night, better than Siobhan.

Best of the night - Siobhan, Crystal, Didi,
Possible bottom 3 - Andrew, Tim, Lacey.

Going home - Tim.

completely agree. and i think i stand alone, but i DID NOT like siobhan's version of paint it black. but i think she just might WOW me at some point. sammy reminded me of the kara comparing her to adam lambert. and i have to agree with that...in a good way.

I don't like Siobhan's voice. I also don't like Lacey's. I was checking around on the Idol website this morning, and most predicted that Lacey would go home. Tim was a strong second prediction. I agree, Stitch, Jason Castro could've done the same thing but pulled it off.

Constantine...ha ha! He was so full of himself...

Lee's adorable and has a good voice...I voted for him a bunch of times.

Watching results show live (well, a few fast tracked hours behind the USA anyway).

I'm disappointed that Paige is in the B3, I really like her. I'm also disappointed that only Tim made the B3 and not Andrew. Only one spot left, my guess is it's Lacey (I haven't read any posts since last night so if someone has posted the results above, I haven't read it!)

Orianthi is awesome, a very cool Aussie chick. It's sad that she's gained fame on the back of Michael Jackson's death, but it's very likely that it all would have happened anyway. Question - as an Australian, why is that our accent sounds weird when we are on American shows? Orianthi spoke just the same way I do, but because Ryan was there with his Yank accent, she sounded really strange. It's quite odd...

It's between Casey and Lacey - and I'm not suprised that it's Lacey. I correctly predicted Tim and Lacey for the B3. I hope Paige is the first to be saved.

Crap, Tim's safe, dammit. Oooh, Ke$ha's coming up, she's awesome, her album is terrific especially the song "Stephen".

As much as I like her quirkiness, I'm hoping it's Lacey that's going, I think Paige has much more potential. And ..... it's Lacey. I very much doubt the judges will save her. Perhaps if it was Paige they may have used it, but they're more likely to wait until later in the season.

Goodbye Lacey, I like your voice, and I really love the song you sang tonight.

Lacey's voice is just too quirky. Not sure if she will make it professionally. She could be a one-hit wonder someday, who knows. THat Kesha chick is AWFUL! We turned the channel after listening to that crap for about 60 seconds. Orianthi was great.

I like Siobhan the best. I did like Lacy as well...would rather have seen one of the boys go home....also like Didi and Crystal, maybe Andrew...all about the girls though....

Pitt, Kesha was beyond awful!!! I was like, what the hell is she celebrating? I'd never heard of Orianthi (they don't play her on Octane lol) but I liked the song.

I like Ke$ha, she's not the best singer but she has a lot of energy to give. Pop music should be fun, and Ke$ha brings a lot of fun to her music and videos.

Orianthi is an Australian, so is therefore amazingly beautiful and talented.... she is singer/songwriter/ guitarist, who began to gain fame last year when chosen as the lead guitarist for Michael Jacksons "This is it" concerts.

"According to you" was a Top Ten hit here late last year. It's a little more "pop" than her usual stuff.

"according to you" is so overplayed in my city. i liked it for a minute.

ke$ha reminds me of a younger courtney love, in some ways with the whole, "i do what i want..bad girl" type of image.

lacey's voice reminds me of cardigans, sixpence non the richer type of music. it's sweet but not powerful.

and my goodness...andrew is bugging the crap out of me. people are voting for him and why??

That's the same question I ask myself Ronnie, every time he's safe...why????

Top 11 Live

Lee - pretty good, he's getting better each week but it was an old fashioned arrangement

Paige - I love Paige but this song never goes down well on Idol. And i remember the last time she sang a ballad, it was horrendous. Oh, honey no.... that was not good.

Tim - this wasn't terrible, that's really the nicest thing I can say about Tim's performance. But it was more of a performance than singing tho.

Aaron - this will most likely be a shocker. Actually, it wasn't too bad, better than Tim. He's not the best singer, but unlike Tim, he puts effort into it. I think he would do well in a boy band.

Crystal - another great performance. I'd like to hear her break away from the acoustic/folk sound and try something a little more pop, just to see how it suits her. But at the moment, she can do no wrong.

Mike - as always his voice is lovely. I didn't see the Ruben season, but from what I've read Mike is a lot like Ruben. He needs to diversify - after the massive success of his Maxwell song, he's been sticking to the same style every week.

Andrew - OMG, so bizarre. I can't stand this guy, and unlike Gokey (who I despised last year), he doesn't have the talent to back himself.

Katie - this was suprisingly good. Her voice sounded stronger than I remember it being in the last few weeks.

Casey - probably my favorite performance of his, it was fun. Having said that, I still don't think he's particularly amazing. And he still just stood there, he didn't move around like he claimed he was going to do.

Didi - I hope she does well, because the irony of being eliminated on a song called "You're no good"? Too funny! I like the arrangement, it's a little Winehouse/Duffy/Paloma Faith. Didi has a great voice, she's a bit of a dark horse in this year's contest.

Siobhan - I hope she kills in the pimp spot. I just watched a YouTube video of Stevie Wonder performing this on Sesame Street back in the early 70's, very cool. Siobhan is so comfortable on stage, she really rocks it! Best of the night by far.

Best - Siobhan, followed by Crystal and Katie
Bottom 3 - Paige (sniff), Tim, Andrew

Eliminated - probably Paige, I'm sad to say, but if it were up to me, it would be Tim.

I say Paige is going. She was horrible last night. I still don't like Siobhan.

So long Paige.

She was one of my favorites, but I have to admit after that performance, America made the right choice.

Thank cheebus for Fox8 here in Australia, not only do they broadcast the show only 8 hours after the USA, you can watch it again straight away on the time shift +2 channel. And again the next day at 12 and 2pm! I'm watching the 2pm showing so it's my last chance until Saturday.

Top 10, here we go

Siobhan - I like her quirk. She looks so beautiful too. She puts a lot of feeling into her singing, you can see it in her face. But there were a few bum notes in the choruses. I like that she converted the scream to an actual note too, but the judges were all absolutely correct.

Casey - I really don't care about Casey. I might go to a pub to hear him sing but I wouldn't pay to get in. But having said that, I actually enjoyed the performance more than any other week.
For me, that's about the level of his singing. He relies on his guitar too much, yet I don't think anyone has called him on it.

Big Mike - I love Mike's voice, but this songs sounds like it's gonna be the same ol' same ol' that Mike has given for the last few weeks. There can be too much of a good thing. And after listening to it, it was lovely but basically the same performance as when he sang Maxwell except he's playing guitar.

Didi - I didn't get to hear Didi's song, but the judges were pretty harsh, even Ellen got booed!

Tim - I hope he sucks. I know that sounds terrible, but I want either him or Andrew to leave. At least Tim seems like a nice kid, so maybe I should be praying for Andrew to go. And maybe I should coz that was actually pretty good! But going by the judges, maybe I was thinking "well it's pretty good for Tim"? Simon's comments - best of the year so far!

Andrew = I really hope this stinks. Actually it was kinda nice. Dammit.

Katie - her voice has been improving each week, and I'm glad she did a good job on this. She's not the best singer in the group by far, but she's got nothing to be ashamed of. Randy was right, it actually was one of the best of the night. And I was shocked that she was in the bottom 3 last week coz I thought she terrific then too. And good for her when she whispered to Ryan that she was gonna listen to herself, rather than choose between Kara and Simon. I'm liking this girl more every week.

Lee - now that Paige is gone, Lee is probably my fave this season. He finally looks comfortable on stage, and this is by far his best vocal of the season! Casey could learn a lot by watching Lee. And wow at Simon's comments!

Crystal - I hope she can focus enough on both the vocal and the piano, but this is Crystal, so I'm sure she'll be fine. And she sure was, that was killa! Crystal is like the Melinda Doolittle of this season - way ahead of everyone else in performance ability, but will probably fall at the last hurdle.

Aaron - I'd feel sorry for anyone following that performance. I love this song. Someone did it last year, and killed it! Just like Katie, Aaron is really growing on me and getting better each week. This is his best performance so far and a good way to end the show today. I thought the judges were a bit harsh.

Top 3 - Crystal, Lee, Andrew
Bottom 3 - Didi, Siobhan, Tim
Eliminated - Didi.

Buh-bye, DiDi, won't miss ya a bit!

lee is doing much better but something about him is lacking, and i don't know what it is. but my goodness his voice is amazing.
crystal blows every single one of them out of the water. she SHOULD win, but probably won't.
siobhan drives me nuts with her yelling. and kara was right, her lower register is awful. which is why she yells because that's only good note she can carry.

tim is so full of it. he's smiles because he's holding back the tears, his eyes water up and he turns red ...what a moron, anyone who stands there giggling like a little kid, and cannot take the judges seriously and the competition (for that matter) is a big joke! i cannot believe this twerp is still there. it's annoying.

i do not know what to make of aaron right now. he's there but not really with the top people.

and sorry but andrew may have done better this week but unless he kills it every week from here on out, i will stick to disliking him. there is no power in his voice and he cannot sing a song unless he takes a pop tune and sings it acoustic style with his guitar. but i will say that i love that chris brown song he sang. it's the only chris brown song i like.

don't know what to say about casey. he's good but again, something is missing. he plays it waayyyy too safe.

What a disgraceful result this week. Glad the judges did the right thing.

I just read this page and have abolsutely no idea who any of the people mentioned are! Counting the days until this Reality TV fads over.

Look, if Darius and Steve Brookstein can't make it, I ask you: what hope is there for the world? [Razz] [Wink]

In all seriousness, those two were the only singers on this programme I actually remember because they were characters.

IMHO winning The X-Factor is worth less than winning at Bingo or taking home a goldfish from the coconut shye.

My 2 cents, spend them wisely.

Not to be argumentative, but what was disgraceful about it? Mike was horrible Tuesday night, IMO. He didn't get enough votes. Henceforth, he was at the bottom. That's the way it happens. Was he the worst? No. I think there are a couple who should've been long gone (Tim and Andrew) but apparently they have tons of fans who vote for them. Mike's fans should've voted more, simple as that. But he butchered Eleanore Rigby. Perhaps that's why they didn't vote.

What's disgraceful? That he is nowhere near the worst 5 there, nevermind the bottom.

Hehe, Watched Darius recently on another show, Popstar to operastar [Razz]

Darius is still on the scene? God bless that walking cliche. Ten years later and I still remember his take on 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'. Legend.

I feel I'm intruding on this thread, so please continue... [Razz]

I was talking overall, not one single performance. I do think it was his personal weakest. I don't believe it should be one bad week and you're out tho. I bet you wouldn't too if it was Lee [Razz] who is actually my fave too.
