Everyone knows that Australians love Vegemite. A few months back, they released a new version of vegemite that was a mixture of vegemite and cream cheese.

They ran a contest for the public to come up with a new name for the product, and the winner was announced on Saturday - introducing the "iSnack 2.0"

iSnack 2.0

My god, the public reaction as been vicious. So venomous in fact that Kraft have given in and are dumping the name.

Some really funny names have been bought up as a possilbe replacement -
"Voldemite";
"YerMumMite";
"Black crap with cheese";
"Jackomite" (because it started black but is getting paler"
"Yeasty cheese"
"Fromage Noir"

God knows what it might end up being called.

I like Black Crap With Cheese!

Have never tasted vegemite in any way shape or form, by the way.

I have. Black Crap With Cheese sounds about right.

I don't even want to go near 'Yeasty Cheese'.....

Vegemite is a bit like oysters. Oysters are nice fried in butter with some bacon, because then they taste like bacon. Although on second thoughts, not even all the bacon in the ssouthern hempsphere could disquise the taste of Vegemite.

Let's hope they are all sold out when I go next year........

I tried Vegemite not long ago. It tastes like a variant of Marmite, which, in itself, is an acquired taste. I thought it was horrible. But then, the Aussie that made me try it hates Marmite, so I think they both might need getting used to.

I had it once, can't recall much of the taste. I like the fact the Aussie's bring something different with the Vegemite.

But do we feel that way because we were raised under the influence of King Marmite, or is it intrinsically superior to the pretender to the throne... Vegemite?

I love marmite so much I can eat it out of the jar...I tried vegemite once and was all excited (yes I am easily pleased) and it was the most revolting thing I have put in my mouth...and that's saying something!!!! grosse, minging and rank!!!!
