I'm guessing most of you have seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy and I was wondering how many have read the books?
Which is your favorite movie in the trilogy? Is it different to you favorite book of the trilogy?
I read LOTR twice in High School and my favorite was The Fellowship of the Rings. I really struggled making it through The Two Towers, I found it fairly dull, with so much of it about Merry and Pippin in the forest with the Ents.
My favorite of the films is The Return of the King, however I'm re watching the trilogy right now so my opinion may change. I'm watching The Two Towers right now and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I ever did in the cinema.

I've read the Hobbit and the Rings trilogy. Gotta agree with you Stitch....liked reading Fellowship the best. I read the books for the first time just shortly before the movie releases. What I liked best is that the movies depicted, for the most part, what I envisioned when I was reading the books. It's been a while since I've watched the movies again (I own them), so hard to say just yet, what my fav movie is. * Can't wait to see the Hobbit...which is already in production, w' Mr. Jackson at the helm once again.

I've not read any of them, but liked the films. I was never a big fan of sword n' sorcery or Middle Earth but LOTR are excellent fantasy epics. Fellowship Of The Ring is my favourite of the three.

Mr Jackson is not at the Helm as such for the Hobbit. Guillermo Del Toro is directing with Pete producing I think.
I read all three books in 2001 whilst serving in Sierra Leone and thought Fellowship was the best (didn't like all the damn songs though).
Movie wise, 2 towers was my fave.

I´ve read The Hobbit and the Rings trilogy too. The movies were ok, but i like the books better.
I also like the Ralph Bakshi Animation movie The Lord of the Rings (1978)

aTOMIK i have to agree i really enjoyed the animated version of the film didn't think many people had seen it.
Also read the Hobbit and LOTR,must admit the Hobbit is a lot more easy going to read than LOTR and i'm looking forward to see what the film turns out like.

I read The Fellowship of the Rings in Jr high and thought it was incredible. I never got around to reading the rest if the trilogy though. As far as the movies, I thought all of them were entertaining and would love to see these on Blu-ray.

That scene is funny and I must admit that the original "Star Wars" trilogy is the stuff of legends, but the prequel trilogy has unfortunately tarnished my overall view of Star Wars just a bit. Speaking of animation....what is everyone's thoughts on "The Clone Wars"?

You're right Valley.... the prequels, the cartoons and Lucas himself, has pretty much ruined Star Wars for me. I rarely even watch the original trilogy anymore!

For years fans demanded the Star Wars prequels but when they finally arrived, it was obvious that no new movies could be quite as good as the ones we'd all imagined in our minds.
Episode I-III don't hold a candle to IV-VII but they're pretty entertaining in their own way. Less is more. Valley, I'm in a minority of one when it comes to the 'Clone Wars' everyone I know hated it with a passion.
'Blue Harvest' had its moments (Stewie Vader, the couch scene) but I think those guys were so excited about getting the green light from Lucas that they forgot to write the jokes. 'Robot Chicken Wars' was funnier IMO.

The Star Wars prequels were a letdown but I do like the very ending of "The Phantom Menace" as I thought it tied the trilogies together rather nicely.

I liked the endings of all of them.... the end credits that is, cuz then they were over!
