who do you just hate watching on the big screen/TV?I am certain most of you have a few ones.Maybe it`s not anything wrong with their acting skills, you generally Just dislike this actor in a strangely unexplained way.

I have at least two.Max von Sydow and Ashton Kutcher.

Woody Allen. To me, he's not funny at all and I don't like his movies.

I feel Woody Allen is very overrated too.

I can't stand Ashton Kutcher either.

I know I got in deep trouble on here for saying I couldn't stand Patsy Kensit in Lethal Weapon 2.

There's lots of actors I can't stand..that are probably more current actors...

I can not stand Jack Black or Ben Stiller, and everyone loves them both. They annoy me to no end.

I can't stand Matthew McCaughney and Kate Hudson.

I never could stand Vin Diesel.

I have a good friend who is a celebrity photographer....and he's met everyone from Clint Eastwood to George Lucas to Muhammed Ali to Princess Diana.....and it's funny how many people he's met and who he says is a total jerk.

He said Kevin Spacey and Teri Hatcher are really rude.

My friend is good friends with Cary Elwes and he got a part in the movie Glory.

He's met so many people in the entertainment industry, he's been everywhere from the Playboy Mansion to the Cannes Film Festival.

All those actors are just regular people, they never usually are anything like their characters.

I think alot of people that become actors/actresses do it because they can be someone other than themselves, and they like that.

I love Woody Allen movies......i'm ONE of those ....haha I like the dry witty humor... [Big Grin]

you know who I strangely can't stand Julia Roberts.....I love alot of her 80's movies (Mystic Pizza, Satisifaction) but I swear she's the same character in every movie with the same smile and same laugh.......I think she's a bit overrated the only movie she branched out in was that weird Mary Reily I think and didn;t it flopppppppppp!? hehe

Woody Allen is great - you just have to get the point of everything he does.

Non-favored status for me goes to TOM CRUISE, closely followed by JOHN TRAVOLTA.

Posted by TKO (Member # 1471) on :

I love Woody Allen (and his movies)! Alan Alda is another hyperactive actor in the style of Woody Allen that I like.

As for actors I simply can’t stand, no matter what movie they're in, I’ll pick Tom Cruise and Glenn Close.

Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :

Tom Cruise sure turned into a "nut job" with all that Scientology. He brainwashed his poor wife as well and I feel sorry for their kid. As far as his movies, I like most of them. He is a talented actor, but it does seem like the same character in almost all his movies.

That's too bad about Kevin Spacey. He's one of my favourite actors. I think he plays an excellent bad guy but he was also very very good in American Beauty. Hopefully if I were to ever meet him I'd catch him on a good day.

This one person who posts on another message board said that John Cusack is pretty rude too IRL. Think she met him on a chance meeting on a couple occasions. I think it was like at a park or something in NYC.

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I heard that about John Cusack too, which is too bad.

I have never watched 1 Woody Allen movie in my life time, so I could never say for sure if I liked his movies...there was never anything about any of them that had any appeal to me to ever attempt to watch one. He as a person, does nothing for me, he just seems so weird.

I can understand not liking Ashton Kutcher (I don't like him either), but why Max von Sydow?

Is it because of that old classic "The Seventh Seal"? [Smile]

I can't stand Andy or Rosie either....thanks for mentioning them.

I liked Max Von Sydow in Flash Gordon.....I thought he was good as Ming. Outside of that though....I can't remember him being in anything...except didn't he play Jesus in a movie, and wasn't he in Strange Brew? Those 2 movies alone...show his diversity- [Wink] [Big Grin]

Don Cheadle--there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way. For the record, I think Ben Stiller is a funny guy...I usually like most of his movies.

Devolution here,

Besides Unfaithful (totally because of Diane Lane) Richard Gere is the pits.

I also think that Julia Roberts and Daryl Hannah are the pits.

I agree with most of these picks (except for Max Van Sydow, John Cusack, John Travolta and Kevin Spacey)
ASHTON KUTCHER! Wow is he annoying or what?!
And also Sarah Jessica Parker, Jenny McCarthy, Ashlee Simpson, and Amanda Peet.

you know who I love that people say is annoying Kathy Griffin! Her show on Bravo my life on the dlist is great......she always says the worst things like asking Olivia Newton John "didn't that leotard give you a yeast infection" in regards to the "physical" video, Olivia cracked up!

Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :

I can't stand Kathy Griffin. I never liked David Spade either. I actually don't think Brooke Shields was ever a good actress. I never liked Annette Benning or Warren Beatty. I don't like Halle Berry either.

Sometimes I might like a person in 1 or 2 movies, but then I don't like them in anything else but those few movies.

Like I like Jane Fonda in 9 to 5 and On Golden Pond, but I don't like her in anything else.

The same thing with Meryl Streep...I like her in Kramer Vs. Kramer and The River Wild, but I don't like any other movies she was in.

I like Glenn Close in The Jagged Edge and The Big Chill...but nothing else.

I love Robert Redford, but there have been some movies he has done that I couldn't stand him in...I didn't like him in Up Close and Personal or in Indecent Proposal.

I like Richard Gere more now than I use to...but he is someone that goes either way for me too.

Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :

I still think for some reason that Tom Cruise's marriage is a sham. I really liked him as an actor until he went nutso. Now I change the channel everytime I see his annoying mug on tv. He's good friends with Oprah so that explains alot of it. Richard Gere is also wacko over his religion. Enjoy your religion however you may but don't smear it onto anyone everytime you do an interview or make an appearance.........

Posted by SammyHain 44DDD-26-36 (Member # 3150) on :

Yeah I can't stand to watch any of Cruise's movies anymore.

Posted by NowhereGirl (Member # 465) on :

i'll watch a few of tom's movies because i like the movie. i don't care about his religion. his acting up in interviews is definitely uncalled for, but when it comes to a movie, ..you like what you like.

as for cheadle, i think he's an amazing actor.
same goes for kevin spacey. his acting is brilliant.

i guess i never met any hugely famous people. if i ever did, and i was a big fan, only to get snuffed or have a bad experience, i would view them differently. it would be too disappointing.

i too, dislike glenn close. her acting is great at times.. but blech!

I like Don Cheadle, he seems liked he would be a nice person...but I don't know that for sure.

But I actually liked him in the movie "Reign On Me" with Adam Sandler. That was a newer movie that I liked. It was sad, and Adam Sandler looked like Bob Dylan, but I liked his friendship with Don Cheadle. The girl that was the gorgeous one that put the moves on Don Cheadle...her name in real life is Saffron...I thought that was a cool name for a girl...then I found out she's a lesbian and she dated the woman who was in Harry Potter who played Harry's aunt...I just couldn't picture that one at all.

When you do meet an actor/actress they usually are so different from what you thought they would be...and my own expierence is that they do have major ego problems. The one person who I have gotten to know that I think is really nice, and she is so down to earth is Adrienne King from Friday the 13th...she is so sweet, and she and I talk alot, and she seems like someone who really appreciates the life they have.

Some people that I have just thought of, that, for some reason, I don't much care for. And some are pretty big names.

MICKEY ROURKE: In the early 80's, he seemed pretty cool, and there was a time when I thought he would be the next James Dean. Somehow, this guy got way off track.

RICHARD BURTON: Not the worst actor, but certainly one of the more "hammiest" (overacting) performers. His approach seems more suitable in Broadway stage plays, but to me, is overbearing in movies. His Shakespearean or period roles are an exception, though!

BEN STILLER: With the exception of "Keeping The Faith", this guy annoys to no end.

MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY: I just don't understand his appeal.

MADONNA: I respect her as a singer, but not as an (ahem) "actress".

Has to be Rob Schneider. In addition to being a no talent hack who only got to be a big name riding the coattails of the infinitely more talented Sandler and Farley and so on, Schneider so clearly forgets that comedy is meant to make the viewers feel good about themselves, to forget whatever might be troubling them in their lives for a while. He, however, sees it as a way to bully and lash out and make fun of those who are the slightest bit different than he. Thus his only worthwhile role to date was in Home Alone 2 and largely because Mac humiliated him all through the picture ("And there's plenty more where that (bubble gum "tip") came from."). Plus, he's also been very clearly corrupted by his million dollar paychecks and treats everyone with contempt; his arrogant rebuttal letter to Ebert after the latter hurled the wretched Deuce Bigalow 2 off a cliff tells you all one would need to know about his views with anyone who doesn't agree with his sadly warped world view. So let's hope Sandler stops giving him bailouts in the form of agitating and borderline offensive minority roles in his own projects, because then we'll be able to watch Schnieder sink faster than the Lusitania. And THAT should be more entertaining than anything he can come up with.

Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :

Author of 1986's The Dark Knight Returns, which definitively returned Batman to his dark roots--although it was slammed by some for perceived fascist overtones--and 1988's Batman: Year One, which lays down the basic current setup for his origins, and which the recent films have adapted to a degree

ISIS,

He played the kid who got kidnapped in "The Legend of Billy Jean" He was good in that. He was in "Back to School" as well. It looks like he's mainly a director now... [Smile]

He was in Jaws 2, which was on TV on Saturday night and I watched it. That is my favorite "Jaws" movie. I do love the cast of characters in it. Donna Wilkes is in it...and I love her in stuff...I forgot about her...she is in the movie "Angel"....that is a movie that I never get sick of...but I always forget about it.
I loved her clothes in that movie. She did another movie called "Blood Song" it was really good. She also was on Hello Larry- in the first season. I should add her to the likeable list.

I can't stand Rob Schneider (or Johnny Knoxville)...and I can't stand Rosie Perez's voice either...those are all great people to add to this list.

You know who I think is over rated now...Jessica Biehl...I don't even think she's attractive, and I never thought Cameron Diaz was good looking...she certainly was no Charlie's Angel and neither was Lucy Lieu.

I can't stand Luke or Owen Wilson either.

I always thought that Jessica Biehl was butch and mannish too....that's so funny that someone else thinks that...and others don't. I think Cameron Diaz looks like a frog....I am sorry.
I think Paris Hilton is downright ugly, and so is Nicole Richie.

It's all a matter of opinion though. I am sure that there's people I think are good looking that other people don't think so.

I can't actually think of anyone current that I thing is knock down gorgeous looking.

Oh.... there are lots of people that I think aren't knock outs that I think are very attractive lookly based on their personality. That's what I am saying though...that nobody always agrees on what they consider to be good looking....I think Angelina Jolie is another person who I think is really unattractive....that's just me...I know a billion people will disagree...to me I think what it is ...is the feminine thing....Angelina, Hilary, Cameron and Jessica...all do have masculine qualities about them....

I think that's the part I find more unattractive about them then their looks....

There's a tabloid magazine out right now...I saw it today in the grocery store...it showed a bunch of celebs with no makeup on....I have no idea why they leave the house without makeup...I mean it takes 2 seconds to stick some eye liner and lipstick on...when celebs don't even make an effort...that's kind of sad...because they really are paid to look a certain way. Wether people say that looks shouldn't matter or not...in the entertainment industry they really do matter.

Maybe they want to go out and not be recognized. Maybe just once they'd like to buy a loaf of bread without being swarmed by fans.

Evidently looks don't mean anything in the entertainment industry because according to you no celebrities look good anymore. There sure seem to be a lot of people who are famous nowdays.

Uh, ISIS, you're not a celebrity. Celebs put WAY more makeup than most "normal" people do, even if it's not for a TV or movie part.

And there are times when a celeb isn't wearing makeup because they want to go out (like shopping, errands, coffee, take the kids to school, etc.) and NOT be recognized and hounded by paparazzi.

It gets to be shocking when they find themselves on a tabloid with no makeup, and looking not-so-glamorous.

To me, it seems more like he has the SAME personality in almost all of his movies. He's not near the top of my list (or even on the first page), but he is OK for me. "Revenge" is my favorite movie from him. I also liked "The Postman" and a few others.

You need to see "About Schmidt". He made me forget that he was 'Jack Nicholson the Star' and really got into the role itself.

But I can see your point: several of his movies makes you wonder why he's in the movie. That's probably because he is such a big star, that sometimes you think of him as simply Jack, instead of the role that he's trying to play.

I think you're right about it being their acting "style" talking about Nicholson and Cruise. They are both good actors to me. Nicholson gets more recognition because of the "wider-range" of characters he's played.

I think The Postman was Costner's best film.

I think Marlon Brando was way overrated...
