The Late Heath Ledger Stars in this Austrailian Romantic Drama based off a novel by Luke Davies of the same name. While this is not one of the top films the Late Ledger was known for, it's certainly one of his strongest performances. This film is pretty much dubbed an underground cult film at best due to it's graphic nature. Yes, it's definetly NOT one for the young kiddies.
It took a little while for me to absorb this film as a whole. The graphic nature of it at some points feels forced and rather cliche of past films like it. But over the span of more viewings, I've grown to really appreciate what the filmakers were going for. I have not read the novel it is based off of, and though many who have say this film is pretty weak in comparison, I still find the movie intriguing. And Ledger's performance in it just gets better to me with each viewing. And the other actors do a fine job as well. If you're a fan of dramatic films more of the Indie style...then this may be one you'll like...if not, then you may want to pass this one by.
I give it an Indie rating of 7/10.
