I really enjoyed The Mist. Every time it looked like it was going to devolve into bad cliches it shifted gears and kept you invested. Darabont has continued to impress me as a director and he certainly didn't fall short here. Great ending too.

Thought the first part was a little dull but then it got better and the ending was fantastic.

i agree. great ending...though a lot of people hated how it ended.

I read the book first, and then saw the film. I must say that this is the only Stephen King adaptation that I liked better than the book.

The ending was really sad and very clever. (different to the book).

Devolution here,

I had mixed feelings too. About the whole movie. A little religious, but all in all entertaining but the ending was crap.

We are DEVO

Yeah, me too. His books are usually much better but this was the exception.

I saw The Mist and enjoyed it, too. Just wondering, since a few people posted that King's books are much better than the movie adaptations (which is usually the case with any author), what is your take on a Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, The Shining, and The Green Mile? I've never actually read any of King's books, but I do think that Shawshank is one of the greatest movies ever made.

Hmm, Stand by Me could be a toss-up. I thought the movie was as good as the book. I have never seen nor read the Shawshank Redemption. As for the Greeen Mile, the books were definitely better. The Shining book by a country mile!

The 1997 mini series version of The Shining is much truer to the book, but really quite dull to watch compared to the 1980 film.

Yes the mini series was very good. The thing is with Stephen King books, you really can't fit the story into an hour and a half/two hour film. Mini series' are a very good way to go with his stories, like with 'The Stand' and 'Golden Years'.

I agree. 'The Stand' and 'Golden Years' are two of the best too!

My fave mini series by far is Storm of the Century. That one wasn't from a book tho, he wrote it specifically for the series. Never seen Golden Years.

I found The mist one of the most depressing films i have ever watched, but also thought it was a good film at the same time, and the ending really annoied me, like they couldnt have waited another 5 bloody minutes lol [Smile]
