There's a lot of them. Sometimes one will filter into my mind doing mundane chores at the bank and supermarket. Some of the ones I am going to list aren't that well known as they weren't released as singles, not as obvious as Endless Love by Ross and Ritchie.

De Falco - Jeanny - Had the tape back in the day, and this was a true downer, but had some funny ridiculousness to it.

Rockwell - Knife - Not much else known from him, but he should have got a grammy for the dreariness factor.

ZZ Top - Rough Boy - Couldn't have a list without this classic!

Pet Shop Boys - It couldn't happen here - Depeths of despair personified.

Easily one of the most somber and depressing songs of the 80's in my book came out right at the tail end of the decade in 1989.
