Berlin is probably best remembered by 80's fans for the tune "Take My Breath Away" from the movie "Top Gun". and others more 80's chic might know them for their hit "(Riding on the) Metro".
And of course Kev knows about Berlin from listening to the tune "No More Words" while watching "Vision Quest" and reading his 'crappy cardboard cover' of his DVD.

But wait.. allow me to direct your attention to an album of Berlin's that actually sold the fewest copies.. however is now considered a synth-pop masterpiece by many. The album is called 'Love Life' and while it does contain "No More Words".. the album as a whole is an artistic statement. I've actually read where other groups have credited this album as influencing their career.

1. When We Make Love
2. Touch
3. Beg, Steal Or Borrow
4. Now It's My Turn
5. Dancing In Berlin
6. Rumor Of Love
7. Pictures Of You
8. In My Dreams
9. No More Words
10. For All Tomorrow's Lies
11. Fall
12. Lost In The Crowd

Give it a listen!

Love Berlin! Terri Nunn is such an underrated singer. "Love Life" and "Pleasure Victim" are both great albums. I got into their music after I saw their episode of Bands Reunited on Vh1, and then got to see them in concert at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, which was one of the best shows I have ever seen [Smile]

I think my favorite song by them is "Pictures of You."

So cool Veronica! Of course, I'm thinking that any concert at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas would rank pretty high on my list..

I agree that "Pleasure Victim" is a good effort too, but I'm totally digging "Love Life".

Berlin is playing in Cali on my birthday this year and I'm not ruling it out just yet.

I think Berlin were hampered by their mega-hit 'Take My Breath Away', which is what most people know them for. They did more great stuff but at the time were considered something of a one-hit wonder.

Love Life is a great album...and the opening track "When we make love" is one of my favorites of the unknown song catergory by them.

Just thought Id mention Terri Nunn was in the (horrible) disco movie THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY when she was a teenager. She was so cute!

I think she auditioned for the pasrt of Princess Leia too? anyone else hear that rumor?

Yes, Mama I heard about that too..I think you can watch her screen test somewhere on youtube.

Here's a segment from a Russell Trunk interview with Terri Nunn about it:

Is it true that before becoming the lead singer of Berlin that you auditioned for Star Wars and the role of Princess Leia?

”It’s so true that it’s now on their 25th anniversary DVD release! They put my screen test on it,” she laughs. ”It is so hilarious, you just got to see it. Harrison Ford and I are sitting in lawn chairs in the middle of a warehouse reading these parts together and it is hilarious.”

Did you ever get a call back from them? ”George Lucas went beyond that. That guy did more for my career than anybody. He brought me back in three times, did three screen tests on me, and then sent me this letter about how wonderful I was, but how he went with Carrie for certain reasons. But, he wrote this letter that my agency sent out to people about what a great actor I was, and how he was such a fan of mine. And it really helped me get work at that time.”

”And then, after the TV movies and B-Movie ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ strangely enough I met Georgio Moroder. Georgio was working with Donna Summer at the time and that brought him over here from Scicilly and she was in the movie. So, I met him – and this was before I was even in a band – and I was totally I love with the man; he was like a God to me. And, who would have thunk it but later on he would he would have written and produced my first number one hit.”

Thanks for that, Val. My respect for George just went up a couple of notches.

Me too. Disco innocence at it's finest.

Been listening to all the Berlin albums at work. Their most recent albums are great too. An under rated group.

Just bought the Terri Nunn solo album Moment of Truth (1991) and it´s a decent disc.

I listened lots of Berlin stuff the other day and really like the band. Like Jakey said, the new stuff rocks too!
Would love to see 80s albums cd reissues someday.

New wave rules! [Smile]

Check out also the album from Squares released 2019.
It´s a band Joe Satriani had back in the late 70s, early 80s, very good stuff!
