So checking out some garage sales today and I found a box of 80's and early 90's tapes, I picked up some Prince and then I picked up two albums by Wendy and Lisa, two members of the revolution. I wasn't even aware they released albums on there own, did they make any videos? Anyway, it's cool when you make these discoveries.

OMG, I was screaming like a mad fangirl when I saw the thread title! [Big Grin] I have heard quite a bit of their album work, & the music they compose for "Crossing Jordan" & "Heroes" is absolutely riveting. ^_^

Surprisingly, W&L's albums don't sell for too much on Amazon; I've been begging my mom to buy a few of them, including their debut album. [Smile] BTW, I've seen some of their videos on YouTube & other sites, Riptide, & they are absolutely spectacular. [Smile]

I would like to get a chance to meet these fine young lasses. It would indeed be a sheer delight to be near such beautiful, talented musicians as these two. ^_^

I recently got the Purple Rain special edition DVD, and saw the extras with the Wendy and Lisa interview. I have two of the three Wendy and Lisa tapes, I just need the Eroica one, I think their third and last. It would be great if Prince would do another Revolution album with Wendy and Lisa, but with prince pushing 50, I'm skeptical.

Actually, they've done a couple more albums, under the name "The Girl Bros."

And I really think, even if it's unlikely, that a Revolution reunion would be very nice. [Smile] I'd definitely be the first to see it. ^_^

Supposedly they will be in some way involved with Princes new album this year "Planet Earth"

I wouldnt get too excited really. I'm a huge Prince fan, but honestly, he has gone from legendary, to embarrassing, to mediocre/decent. But even a decent Prince album to me is a dissapointment considering the fact that everything he did was consistently Legendary for decades.

For Prince to get back, he needs to reign in his Diva like tendencies. But other divas like Sting are touring now with his old band the Police, so maybe it's not that farfetched.

I disagree. I think in order for Prince to get back, he needs to swallow his pride and get back with Warner Bros. Seriously. Prince is a musical genius, but it seems the problem is, the man can write 100 songs a week, but only maybe 5 of them are really AMAZING tracks. Prince needs someone with the weight and the pull to tell him, ok you gave us 12 songs for your new album, but 4 of these arent good, can you give us 4 new tracks?

Prince seriously seems to have issues determining the good from the bad. I mean his past several albums have had some fabulous songs on them. But think of his single choices? They are always one of the weakest songs on the album.

Prince was consistently great with warner bros. Most of what he has done since then has been mediocre at best.

Well, as for me, I personally think Prince will always, always be #1 in my book. ^_^

I still love Prince and consider him my favorite as well. And I have still enjoyed his recent albums. But seriously, you can't say that the stuff he has put out in the past few years is as good as what he was doing in the 80s and 90s. Lyrically and Musically it just hasn't been the same scale.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that this very achilles heel is what ruins most artists. At first, when they are a nobody, they try very hard and get told in no uncertain terms by the record company what is good and bad. As they become a household name, they become isolated and surrounded by "yes" people. No-one has the nerve to tell them that some of their stuff is bogus and it all goes downhill as a result...

I'm sure its true of movies and other creative endevours too... "Evidence item A for the prosecution": George Lucas and Star Wars... Someone needed to tell him long before "phantom menace"... [Wink]

hehe good point. I once read an interview with Ewan Mcgregor and they were discussing The first two prequel movies. He was talking about the really poor dialogue and how it was difficult to read the lines or act them at times. The interviewer asked him if anyone talked to Lucas about this, and he said "No, Who's going to say to Lucas 'Your dialogue sucks!'"

Well, I must say I agree entirely with you. [Smile]
