Singer, songwriter, actor (allegedly [Razz] ), author, producer extraordinaire; love her or loathe her Madonna has been doing her thing for over 20 years now, and has reinvented herself about a hundred times in between.

She’s outrageous, brash and is in way over her head with the Kabbalah (sinister stuff), but when it comes down to it; Madonna’s a fantastic singer and easily one of the finest performers of our time, so when did you like Madonna best and why?

For me, it was circa 1985-90 and then again in 97-98 (in terms of her look and the music) and though some of her stuff is a bit samey these days, she’s still 100x more exciting a personality than Britney, Christina and all the other wannabes put together.

Like A Virgin and earlier. Her stuff off the movie Vision quest was great as was Borderline and the like. I thought she was so damn cute then and I've always liked cute more than sexy or sultry anyday.

Christina Agulera can actually sing. Have you ever heard Madonna live? And I mean live, not one of those overly-produced shows that she does with all pre-recorded material. She can't sing a note, and she pretty much acknowledges it. Christina Agulera is a very talented singer, which I think everyone has seen on tv, since she was a tot.
Britney sux. Period.

My favorite Madonna album is Like a prayer, but my favorite era for singles is during the 00's - Music, Don't tell me, American Life, Hollywood, Hung up etc...

My favorite songs by her:

-"Borderline"

-"White Heat"

-"Gambler"

-"Into The Groove"

-"Crazy For You"

-"Cherish"

-"Vogue"

-"Forbidden Love" (One of her most recent tracks)

The last track on the list was one I downloaded off Shareaza. That service kicks butt.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

My favorite MADONNA stuff is the first album. I think she's highly over-rated but tehre are a handful of songs I like from her that came out after the MADONNA ALBUM:
Take A Bow
Frozen
Get Into The Groove
Open Your Heart
That's pretty much it. I think I like her new stuff less and less as it comes out.

I've never really gotten too much into the Material Girl. I find a good portion of her songs to be incredibly haunting and frightening to listen to. Still, "You're an Angel" and "Beautiful Stranger" stand out.

I like her early stuff 1985-91, especially the first 2 albums. I don't care for anything she has done in the last 15+ years.

Even though I'm not a massive overall fan, I definitely like little bits of her entire career.

The early era (1983-1985/86) will always be my favorite in terms of music and image - after all, this is the Madonna that first came into people's homes and had Valley/mall girls dressing up like her. The videos and songs had a light, fun quality to them, and she was a total cutie (suggestive, but still not over the top).

The True Blue/Like a Prayer era (late '80s) pushed the envelope a bit further. She actually got more serious and creative in this era, which I think really let her have staying power (unlike some stuff from 1984 which was passe by 1987 even). The controversy over the "Like a Prayer" video worked to her advantage, IMO.

After this, it gets kinda so-so for me. She got super sexy/edgy for awhile, then did Evita and some '90s ballads before reinventing herself in '97 with "Ray of Light" (electronic dance/pop that was very up to date for then).

You could actually argue that all her recent hits since then are kinda based off that general sound, albeit in a more toned down pop/dance sense (just like everything Starship did in the '80s was based off their "We Built this City" comeback). She's still creative, smart and (IMO) attractive. Her latest album already has two hit singles/videos.

P.S. I admit, I never understood the need for the British accent, LOL, but that's her.
