Devolution here,

What is the most underrated soundtrack that you can think of?

I just watched Beverly Hills Cop and didn't realize until the 50th time that I have seen it that the music was top notch. I know that many of you probably love this soundrack so I sound like I am on crack, but are their any opinions?

There's two soundtracks that don't get much credit. The first is the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack, had the good fortune to find it on cd and it's got some cool stuff on it. The Repo man soundtrack is even better, top notch punk stuff.

I always liked Real Genius, but it never came out on a soundtrack, legally at least. Nonetheless I own it anyway.

Pretty in Pink is good too, I know there are more that I like if I could only think straight this time of night.

It's not from the 80's, but the "Dumb and Dumber" soundtrack is totally ace. Crash Test Dummies, Pete Droge, Gigolo Aunts, Deeelite, The Prcclaimers, Butthole Surfers and The Primitives all on the one album. I guess coz the film is kinda dumb (in a genius kind of way), the soundtrack is easy to overlook.

Devolution here,

I really liked "New Age Girl" off that soundtrack. Oh yeah, there used to be a link on the Net to get the whole Real Genius Soundtrack.

Amen, Ali...do you know how long it took me to figure out that CS Angels were Comsat Angels so I could get "I'm Falling"?

Chaz Jenkle (sp?) also has a good song called Number One, I believe.

It's really too bad they never released an actual collection for it.

I don't know if you'd call it underrated but Pretty In Pink's soundtrack belies its fluffy storyline - a bit of Suzanne Vega & The Smith's never goes astray. Although I just got out Less than Zero again and I had forgotten that it was a pretty awesome soundtrack too.

A really underrated soundtrack and moive in my opinion is Dudes. It's got songs by the Vandals, WASP, Legal Weapon, Janes Addiction and Megadeth. Anyone know of any tribute pages for this movie out there? Jon Cryer as a punk rocker/cowboy was hella cool.

I never listened to the soundtrack from Wall street but I love The Talking Heads song "This Must Be The Place", it's playe during the movie and at the end credits. I do own it, just not the Wall street soundtrack version.

Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :

This must be the place is one of my favorite Talking Heads songs. Just recently, buzz and hometown indie band the Arcade Fire did a cover of this song live with David Byrne.

La Bamba was an underrated soundtrack. Though it was made up of old music, it was rockin'! Los Lobos and all the other acts did a great job.

The Trick or Treat Soundtrack has to be one of my fave yet most underrated soundtracks out there. It took my months after seeing the movie to even find a copy of the soundtrack and even now its still killer!!!!

Fastway rule all as far as soundtracks go...

Noms [Cool]

Well some of you all know I have this wierd obsession with Teen Wolf but in all honest it really does have a very good soundtrack. It only had 9 songs but I loved "Win in the end" "Big bad wolf", "Way to go" and "Shooting for the stars" I actually downloaded each of those songs....

I've always loved the "Over the top" soundtrack.

Watched Fright Night again, really digging some of the songs on the soundtrack, is that an easy one to find?

Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :

Wasn't really underated in the 80's, but the Breakin' soundtrack is TKO.

I'd say the Beat Street soundtrack should get some props as well.

OMG, I LOOOOOOOVE Vanity 6! [Big Grin]

And in answer to the thread itself, I believe the soundtrack for "The Great Mouse Detective" is underappreciated indeed!

My #1 pick for underrated is: Metropolis:

1.Love Kills - Freddie Mercury
2.Here's My Heart - Pat Benatar
3.Cage of Freedom - Jon Anderson
4.Blood From a Stone - Cycle V
5.Legend of Babel, The - Giorgio Moroder
6.Here She Comes - Bonnie Tyler
7.Destruction - Loverboy
8.On Your Own - Billy Squier
9.What's Going On - Adam Ant
10.Machines - Giorgio Moroder

"In 1984, Fritz Lang's classic silent sci-fi hit Metropolis was reissued in tinted colour and sporting a rock and pop soundtrack."

"Here's My Heart" has always been one of my favorite songs:

I always did think the Uncle Buck soundtrack never got any respect, with its nice mix of older ("Jukebox Baby") and contemporary ("Wild Beats") tracks, held together with a terrific main theme in "Rhythm of Life" that's easily one of the best of the decade.

Bamersy,

I´ve been hunting that Metropolis soundtrack for many years now.

The soundtrack to this movie is INCREDIBLE!! Between Depeche Mode, TKA, Lions & Ghosts & Icehouse, it's in my top 5!!
