I heard someone redoing this song yesterday on the radio, and it was totally annoying. Who did that to a cool song?

I loved this song when Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam did it.

Hey Isis,

The song you heard is by The Black Eyed Peas and it's called "Don't Phunk With My Heart." I actually don't mind it but since I've been hearing it so much, it motivated me to pull Lisa Lisa out of the archives. I absolutely love that song and I can't stop singing it. Do you remember the 80's show Kids Incorporated? The one girl from there, Stacey Fergueson, is now a member of The Black Eyed Peas...they call her Fergie.

Wow, I didn't know Fergie was from Kids Inc. I used to love that show. I also loved " The Guys Next Door". Does anyone remember any of them?

Which song, Lisa Lisa's or the Black Eyed Peas'?

To delve into the waters of my bitterness vis a vis the music of the modern day for a moment (To me, mocking and belittling the music of the modern day counts as 80s talk):

I'd listen to Lisa Lisa any day. I hate the Black Eyed Peas myself.

I don't subscribe to their political beliefs.

I feel odd on the rare occasions when I see "Kids Incorporated" star Stacey Ferguson. I actually only see her in news bits on VH1 (The only non-music network of the Viacom "music" channel family that I'll watch). I refuse to call her Fergie...She'll always be Stacey Ferguson to me.

Finally, considering the fact that in real life I've been called retarded due to my autism (for Christ's sake, retardation and autism aren't the same thing!), I loathe the song "Let's Get Retarded" (That's the actual song, not "Let's Get It Started"). I also loathe myself when *I* use the term retarded, if that means anything.

While I do disagree with Ferguson's political beliefs, I would love for "Kids Incorporated" to come out on DVD.

To bring this back to the 80s itself, how about when Full Force worked with Samantha Fox in the late 80s?

They really bought out the blue-eyed soul side of the "wild dame" and she was one of the few white women who could pull off a hip-hop look without looking like a doofus or a wigger (which is more than can be said for Ferguson, one of the definitive wiggers of our time).

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

I never saw Kids Incorporated, I think I was probably too old for it whenever it was around.

I use to love... Lisa Lisa, (seeing that's a cool name- [Razz] ) I remember a friend of mine gave me that cassette tape, and I still have it to this day. We use to play: "This is Cult Jam"...and I would always do the part where she said...well, what about me? what about my name? and then they would sing...Lisa, Lisa....it was fun.

I don't know anything about the Black Eyed Peas, what songs I have heard of theirs I thought stunk.
