Color of Night is a film from 1994 about a color-blind psychologist who becomes involved in numerous murder mysteries while taking over a group therapy session from his murdered friend and having an affair with a mysterious woman with a deep secret.

The feature was headed by Bruce Willis and Jane March and co-stars Lesley Ann Warren, Ruben Blades, Scott Bakula, Brad Dourif, Lance Henriksen and Kevin J. O'Connor and directed by Richard Rush ( The Stunt Man ).

When this film came out, it was negatively received by critics and flopped at the box office, winning this film a Razzie Award for Worst Picture. The movie did very well on the home video market and Maxim magazine listed the sex scenes between Willis and March as the hottest in film history.

What was your reaction when you first viewed this film?

I like this film as a guilty pleasure. The sex scenes are good, and it certainly is a good looking film, courtesy director Richard Rush. The big problem is that it plays like a big budget version of a Cinemax After Dark erotic thriller of the era. The cliches pile up faster than the bodies (can you say, "Hitchcock hero with psychological defect"?), the supporting cast chews the scenery (take a look at Lance Henrikson, for example), and the big twist is so stupid that you'll be saying, "You've got to be kidding me that Bruce Willis couldn't spot that. I spotted it about 15 minutes into the film!" With director Rush, it could have actually been a winking spoof, but it's hard to tell. Good theme song by Brian McKnight and Lauren Christy, "The Color of the Night..."
