"Let's do it!"

Let me start by saying that I'm really not much of a country music fan and George Strait music is normally not what I would listen to.  But back in the early 90's I had just upgraded my surround sound system and gave the movie "Pure Country" a chance.  It was one of those hidden gem surprises we are always searching for on here.  I made my roommate watch it the next night and we both went out and bought the soundtrack that weekend.  I still have tunes from the movie on my ipod and love when one of them comes up on a shuffle.

George Strait plays country singer Dusty Wyatt Chandler who is fed up with the overdone effects at his concerts that his manager Lula  (Lesley Ann Warren) deems necessary.  Dusty's frustration reaches a point that he eventually takes an unannounced break and walks away after a show. Dusty decides to follow his roots home and changes his appearance and soon meets Harley Tucker (Isabel Glasser) a rodeo girl working hard to save her family ranch.  Harley has no clue that Dusty now going by the name of Wyatt is a country music superstar.  When Wyatt doesn't show up for his next concert, his manager Lula then hires an aspiring roadie (Kyle Chandler) to lipsynch dressed as Dusty, while they continue to search for the real Dusty. Dusty decides to hang around Harley Tucker's ranch and they start to fall for each other..

I'm stopping there in case a few of you seek out this flick.  It is best played loud with surround sound.  The room with actually turn into an awesome concert atmosphere!

"Pure Country" made me a huge Kyle Chandler fan.  I've enjoyed his career ever since and think he is an underrated actor.
