"Day of the Triffids" starred Howard Keel I believe and was based on the novel of the same name. It has a very similar storyline to "Night of the comet" although "Triffids" obviously came first. There is a meteor shower and the next day everyone that watched it is blinded. The Triffids landed in the meteorites and are killer plant creatures that prey on the blind humans. A few people are unaffected, such as the main character who I believe was in a coma during the meteor shower.

It's been a long time since I read the book (1987), so I think I might be wrong but you get the basic idea.

I love you guys! I really thought no one would respond to this one cuz I didnt know the exact title or even the name of the "monsters" ("Triffids")
I love to ask people what their favorite horror movie is. This friend is a bit older than me and when she said "Night Of The Triffids" (Only she said "trippids") she really threw me for a loop. I've never even HEARD of that movie. Will have to see if its on DVD.
Thanks!

I love Day Of The Triffids. The main character was blind at the beginning of the movie and he had an opperation and his eyes were all bandaged up and the next day they were going to remove his bandage to see if the operation was successful. So...when the meteor shower occurs...others everyone else is blinded. When he removes his bandages he can see. This was really cool. Everything was reversed now! He could for once see while everyone else was blind. How ironic.
Yes! Giant plant monsters! I enjoyed it. The Brits even took it and made it into a tv series in the '80s.
Mamamiaseetpeaches, you have to watch this movie just for the cheese factor (sorry Rocksteady). And it is available on DVD!
