I own Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama. Picked up an old VHS copy at a video store that was shutting down. [Wink]

FYI.. Vicious Lips, Valet Girls and Trancers are available on netflix instant streaming!

Muffy has mentioned Vicious Lips to me, but I've never seen it.

I believe I watched Trancers back when I was a kid..I remember my mother liking it. I will add it to my queue to watch! [Smile]

Ronnie .. here's my original thoughts on "Vicious Lips" .. I suggest that you give it a chance late at night sometime! [Wink]

"I don't know where we are man.. but it ain't heaven"

 -

"Vicious Lips" is a cult classic.. a SciFi Comedy that is so bad it is actually incredibly entertaining.  Set in the distant future, it still had such an 80's fashion flair and feel.  For fans of the Cantina scenes in the original "Star Wars" movie this wacky flick is a must view.  I totally enjoyed all the references to space adventure movies/tv shows from the past.  Let me put it this way.. the main character in the movie is named Judy Jetson and you will see a "Danger Will Robinson" if you watch closely.

 -

Here's the premise:

An out-of-this-world girl band has a chance for their shot at the big time -- if they can manage to get to the galaxy's hottest night spot, the Radioactive Dream, in time for their gig in this campy sci-fi comedy. But first, they'll have to fight their way through a meteor field, deal with a crash landing on a isolated planet, and manage to avoid a crazied Venusian man-beast who's escaped his cell on his way to prison..

 -

Two things that make this movie totally worth watching are:  the incredible tunes throughout and the fact it only lasts 75 minutes!

"We're a band Judy.. a band has got to stick together."

 -

Lunar Madness!!

This movie would have made for a great 80's music video.

I truly think the key to enjoying "Vicious Lips" is to watch it late late maybe even add a third 'late' at night and go into it planning on a bizarre ride. The tunes and the crazy fashion make it all worth it though.

Muffy is a now a huge fan of "Vicious Lips".. last I heard, she was starting a fan club. ha [Big Grin]

And I know I torched "Valet Girls" when it was compared to my beloved "Valley Girl".. but it is another fun movie with some great tunes. The lead actresses are rather entertaining, though this movie probably destroyed their careers! Especially, Meri Marshall that plays Lucy who is definitely an excellent singer .. oh and the fashion in the movie is 80's awesome.

Unlike aTomiK, I have seen almost none of these...although I am now completely sold on Vicious Lips! [Razz]

I loved and own Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn. It sits on a shelf right next to my copy of Spacehunter!

The others I have seen and have actually enjoyed each of them although I don't own any of the rest are Puppetmaster, Ghoulies, Trancers, Troll and TerrorVision

Doesn't Muffy like Ghoulies?

For exploitation-enthusiasts it's nearly impossible to pick only 5 favorites from
Young Warrior's list above, and i'm sure Dolls and From Beyond are gonna get mentioned a lot..
so let me pick one that has been stuck in my mind since i first saw it :

Breeders !

There, i said it ! ..and yes, you've read it correctly.. There actually is someone who likes
it ! [Big Grin]

The ending in which a couple of naked babes roll around in a pool of semen is just..
UNFORGETTABLE !
(or unforgivable.. whatever you prefer)

Don't know if i heard it correctly, but Criterion was preparing a collector's edition
double-disc set for their 'continuing series of important classic and contemporary films'..
you don't believe me ?? [Wink]

i'd like to watch vicious lips, until valley mentioned it above i'd never come across this one before(for me that's quite a rarity).
from the looks of it vicious lips was never actually released here in the u.k, unless it did come out but under an alternate title, think i'll have to do a bit more investigating, but so far i've come up with nothing!

when they released sorority babes in the slimeball bowl-o-rama here they cut it by 1 minute 9 seconds and to add insult to injury they gave it the crummy title of - the imp .

ones i've watched so far from this list

walking the edge
the alchemist
ghoulies
trancers
crawlspace
eliminators
terrorvision
ghost warrior
cellar dwellar
from beyond
ghost town
zone troopers
ghoulies 2
prison
the caller
enemy territory
dolls
breeders
intruder

When it comes to '80s exploitation/drive-in/grindhouse fare, Charles Band and his Empire Pictures stand along New World, Film Ventures International, Crown International, and Cannon as one of the best. Even his earlier, pre-Empire films are loads of fun, especially Laserblast.

I know he gets a bum rap among critics and the horror community, but I can't say any of his '70s/'80s output is unwatchable or awful. I have to confess I haven't seen a lot of his movies, but from I have viewed, there isn't one among them that didn't entertain me. Here's my top 5 (no particular order):

Ghoulies 2
Crawlspace (Klaus Kinski is great in this one!)
Parasite
Prison
From Beyond

It's a pretty good B-movie. It's about a family who move into a new apartment building which happens to be the site of an invasion from a parallel dimension. A Troll possesses a young girl and goes from room to room causing mayhem, and nobody believes her brother (Noah Hathaway from Neverending Story - his name in the movie is Harry Potter!)

My five (in no order):

Trancers
Troll
Ragewar
Eliminators
Terror Vision

I got round to watching troll in the end,I purchased a cheap DVD of it,thought it was pretty good fun,my 8 year old son loved it.

the DVD also features the in name sequel only troll 2 which from what I've heard is atrocious,as you can imagine I've not got up the courage yet to check it out.

One of the movie-related books i bought last year, was this one :

 -

The book has its focus on the early days with company Charles Band Productions ('75-'83), and
especially the Empire Pictures period ('84-'89).
There are also chapters about Charles Band's video distribution company Wizard Video,
as wel as one about several unreleased Empire productions.
In-depth, honest reviews and tons of photo's (only black & white though) make for a facsinating read.

I would love to read that book. Band's companies made a lot of fun films. While they weren't always great, they were rarely boring. "Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity" immediately comes to mind as a classic Band product. The budget was next to nothing, and some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but the film runs under 80 mintues, is never dull, looks amazingly good, and is quite entertaining. Hollywood producers today could take a few lessons.

"Troll 2" is jaw-dropping. See it, and then watch the documentary "Best Worst Movie," a loving tribute to the cult surrounding this terrible fim. The documentary is fascinating--funny, heartbreaking, and inspiring. (I was glad to see that a couple of the stars take their new-found fame in stride, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, at having starred in a movie scraping the bottom netherland of the worst films on IMDB.com.) [Smile]

"Lovely and resourceful Daria and Tisa escape a space gulag only to crash land on a nearby world where a guy in tight pants named Zed is playing The Most Dangerous Game.
Zed turns the girls and another guest loose in his jungle preserve to serve as the prey in a mad hunt.
Armed only with knives and their wits, the girls must battle their way accross the jungle to a hidden arms cache before Zed catches and kills them." (IMDb)

Watched Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity (1987).
It´s an entertaining b-movie (perhaps closer to c-movie) with a lovely cast including Elizabeth Kaitan, Cindy Beal and Brinke Stevens.
The plot is silly as hell but the most important thing in these films are that the girls look good. And they do [Smile]

See androids, mutants, spaceships, laser guns and cute ladies getting even with evil men. Fun stuff!
